June 8, 2010 WONDERful 5 Day Key West Cruise

I can't believe we leave in 1 week!!!

It has been so busy between getting ready for the cruise and trying to close up another school year that I haven't been on the boards in awhile. Our students still have one more day and I have until next Monday. Then we leave as soon as I get off work. I spent yesterday with all the moms in our cruise group shopping for last minute needs. We had a blast and everyone is so excited. I still need several things for the DD though. I may have to drag her out today. She isn't a big shopper but doesn't like me to pick out her things either...teens, gotta love em'...LOL. I packed my FE gifts and the hubby is ready to kill me. It took an entire suitcase. I told him that just meant we could bring home lots of souveniers but that didn't seem to help. :goodvibes

Andrea, I hope your dog is doing better.

Everyone have a great week.

Good morning all!! :wave2: Happy Memorial Day!

I am working today but it is actually a good thing because I traded so I could be off FRIDAY...to start my vacation early and finish packing!! The kids have their last day (hour) of school that day so that's another reason I wanted to be home!! I have not started packing at all and it's starting to make me nervous!! I will start this afternoon.

So one week from today...we will be waking up at the Hilton Garden Inn at LBV..got the best rate there that includes breakfast... anyway we plan to do DTD Sunday afternoon (we are flying in Tampa-flights look best-I am an airline employee-flying standby!) and maybe Monday morning too..then also a trip to Walmart or some grocery store to get beer/wine for the ship and any other last minute things we may have forgotten!

Update on my sick puppy Bailey... :guilty:
I will try to make this brief...she is on the heavy duty meds now (antibiotics and steroids) which they try to figure out what is causing her platelet count to be so low...in the mean time we are watching her closely for any internal bleeding, bruising, etc. Nothing yet. She is lethargic but still eating fine, etc. The tick panel (blood test) came back all negative which is actually not a good thing...that was the lesser of the evils I think. Now they are looking for what the cause could be...cancer, some autoimmune disease..lupus? I am not sure how much more testing they will do..or we can pay for. She is a member of the family and of course we will do everything we can to keep her healthy..but we are well over $1000 with this already... I am hoping they can somehow figure out what it is and treat her so we don't have to spend tons more money on the testing. I am sad....trying not to be...but know we will probably have to say goodbye to her a lot sooner than we ever expected to. :sad1: Ok now I have myself crying again!!! Stop!!! Thanks to all for your interest and support.

So that's all for now...I might write more later!! It's a long work day for me and I am not too busy so ...lots of time to think about the cruise!! :yay::yay::yay:

Oops, I forgot that it was Memorial Day in the States, so Happy Memorial Day to my Cruise Friends

I wouldn't mind working a holiday if I can start my vacation early, so I hope your day goes quickly for you

 Aww poor Bailey, it's such a worry when our pets are poorly, I really hope the meds kick in for her very soon

Andrea, DW works at home and types medical transcription for hospitals in the Chicago area Swedish covenant and Northwest community. I have brought up all the suite cases and garment bag this morning to air out may start a little packing latter shoes belts and the such to start and shaving kit.

we can not believer how close we are! So excited! We are flying into Orlando next Monday and staying at All Star Movies for the night. We're planning to just be lazy and not do any parks or much of anything as we'll be at Disney for 8 days when we get back...

I think they stopped running the banana boats on CC a year or so ago. From what I remember hearing, the outfit running the excursion decided to discontinue it.

For those of you who are worried because you haven't started packing yet....don't be. Since this is our first cruise, and I have probably read WAY too much information, the idea of packing seems so daunting to me that I keep putting off even thinking about it.:confused:So much so, that I convinced my family to go for a bike ride today instead(there is an old train track that crosses 2 states that is very close to our house). Of course, when you're talking about the Katy Trail- it is over 140 miles with towns (sometimes ghost towns) spread few and far between at times. :scared1:But, they were game---so after almost 20 miles and a VERY welcome stop at a winery with trailside access- I feel able to START thinking about what to pack and how many bags we're going to end up with.

We get in pretty late on Monday evening, so we're spending the night at the Fairfield Inn near the airport. :worship:I'm totally envious of those of you who will be arriving early or staying later to do the World:worship:. School and work preclude any early arrival and a ballet intensive keep us from being able to stay any extra days (oh yeah, there's also that little thing called money :headache::headache:).

@ Carole : congratulations to your daughter with her dancing. We have begun our trek down that same road and see many memorable years and moments with the kids ahead. I wish her all the best!

Andrea- our hearts are with you and your beloved pet. Cherish these times with her.

I CAN NOT wait for next week!

I'm so so sorry about your dog. I know that they become part of the family. I feel for you and I'll be praying for your dog.

Excuse my grammar mistakes please!!

I can't believe that one week today we'll be walking under those huge Mickey Ears and entering our ship to "Welcome aboard the Disney Wonder the .... Family"

For those of you that have cruised before, do you prefer to have lunch at Parrot Cay or do you head straight up to the Beach Blanket Buffet. We like the BBB, as we enjoy sitting out in the sun for our first meal, then we'll grab a couple of loungers by the Goofy Pool and have our first cocktail

See you all in one week !!! :yay:

So we'll see you in the Country Inn & Suites, BBB and the Hard Rock (just incase you think we're stalking you :rotfl2::rotfl2:) ;)

Have a good day at work Debbie :)

I am soooooooooooo excited!!!! We leave in 3 days!!!! Bring on the fun and wdw/dcl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't believe our cruise is just around the corner. We are traveling Sunday doing DTD and Magic Kindom on Monday. Have started to pack the toiletries and things but not clothes just yet. Its been a busy week already for 2 of us at work so we are certainly earning our vacation. Can't wait to see you all on board. Travel safely.

next Monday we will just be hanging out at the Port Orleans French Quarter and go to DTD in the evening We will drive over to the port early . We will have Lunch at BBB. see everyone in 7 days

Yay ! In 7 days time we will be in Key West :yay: We still haven't made any plans other than to walk down to the SouthernMost Point for photos and visit the Hard Rock Cafe, as I want a HRC Key West T-shirt and I need to pick up a couple of HRC KW Hurricane glasses for some friends

I hope you're all getting on well with your packing. I'm going to be busy gardening today, as I want to get the lawn cut. I can't do anymore packing till Friday when I put my nice dresses and tops in the cases

Have a great day everyone :)

We're nearly packed - mostly because it's dance recital all day Saturday, and leave at 2am on Sunday to make our 5:30pm ADRs at the Yachtsman's! :rotfl2: All the packing has to be done by Friday night - and if I have anything to say about it, it'll be completely done, packed in the car, and ready to go so all we need to do is get up and go on Sunday!

1 week from today I'll be grabbing breakfast at BBB! And with any luck, I'll actually have the whole family with me so we can eat outside, rather than having to carry a tray+ back to the stateroom! :rotfl: I don't know why they think vacations are for sleeping in... ;)
