Was Captain EO a good idea or an idea to create a Michael Jackson based attraction?

I have never figured out what made Disney think of creating the Captain EO attraction? I basically think Michael Jackson desperately wanted to have his own Disney attraction so that his fans could see a Michael Jackson based attraction to cash in on his popularity at the time Michael was working on his 1987 album Bad. And what was the story behind Captain EO? The way I see it Captain EO was developed was so Disney could begin marketing celebrity based attractions and shows and Disney Hollywood Studios and Epcot began doing the same thing with Ellen DeGeneres with Universe Of Energy and Sounds Dangerous With Drew Carey and Captain EO in 1986 was the beginning of celebrity based attractions. And why Captain EO was brought back when Michael Jackson passed away In 2009 was not only to honor Michael Jackson but to see how successful it would become again. But they should've done a lot better with Captain EO in my eyes. And it's no secret why Disneyland followed suit by adding Captain EO to Tomorrowland later on
