June 5,2010 Relocation Cruise

i'm sure i've got one of those lying around here somewhere ;)

Izzie and I also finally made it home after leaving Europe kicking and screaming (well, in our minds). What an amazing trip and great new friends to boot! Thanks to all of our table mates! you guys definitely made it a special cruise.

we miss our (nutty but great;)) table mates, and dinner without charlie and sandor just isnt the same!

Hi guys

Hope you are all settled back in the routine!!!

We obviously are finding it difficult, so have booked another one August 18th Med again, much more impressive stops.

Are we mad or what!????

Anyone fancy joining us? It won't be the same without our tablemates either.

Kate

i did look at some of the later med cruises, but i just cant get the time off work. plus i think our bank balance wouldnt survive another one! but i am still holding out that we might be able to do a transatlantic some day

It would be great if you could 'wing' it!!!

I must admit, we were thinking of a holiday to WDW end of August, but the prices were more than doing the cruise!! Even October was £1,000 more (Mike wants to stay in a 'Disney Hotel'!

We hadn't been on holiday since early last year and we normally go skiing in Feb/March, but didn't this year, so the way I see it, we are only taking our 'usual holiday allowance ;)

Gty 12 again - Mike is not allowed the wine package, or the beer package and I won't have a bag to buy. I am going to get loads of pins on ebay which will save loads! Thanks Karen for getting Charlotte into that!!! Brook and Jenna didn't help either!!!! (do you get the feeling I am trying to justify myself!?:))

The cruise meet thread doesn't seem as lively as ours, but not really got into it yet. They don't seem to want to do FE's, which Lottie loved, so I think I am going to just put it up and put gifts in overnight and pretend!!!!

Wish Gary all the best with the interview and have a great time in Spain.

Kate

thanks kate,
i'd love to have done another cruise, i'm getting serious withdrawl and we've only been back a week, but there's no chance i can get any time off in august.
yeah sorry for starting charlotte on the pin trading but it looked like she really enjoyed it :)
have a great time and dont forget to tell us all about it

Wow...back on the Magic so fast for you!

I don't have enough vacation time to pull off a long Med cruise. However, we have started planning a long weekend trip to London in October. Yesterday I bought tickets to the Les Miserables 25th Anniversary concert at the O2 arena. Don't know what else we will be doing yet...but I am excited about this one time only event!

Mom and I also booked the 6 night repo cruise from Los Angeles to Vancouver on the Wonder next year.

Kate, somewhere around here I think I have a bunch of older pins that I used to trade with...I will see if I can dig it out so you can have some stuff for Charlotte to use. (That may take a bit of closet cleaning, though!) :-)

Kate, I am so envious of you...I've got my eye on the Aug 18th cruise but seriously struggling to justify it, we're hoping to get back to WDW next year and so maybe I should look at a cruise from the US instead next year.

Does anybody know what the chances of next years med cruise prices dropping?

I also have Karen to thank for my kids new pin obsession.....!

The London trip sounds great. The 02 Arena is supposed to be fantastic. I was pleased to see you got in BOTH shows on your last visit - that is dedication to the theatre!!

Vancover sounds great, we were tempted with Alaska and it was one of those that we put on hold with DCL (it may even still be!), I think it is one of the few places - apart from India, that I would like to visit.

Any pins would be a big bonus. There are some she wants to keep - mainly Chip & Dale and the Animal ones, so I am going to take those off before we go. If you do find them, great, let me know if I can send you anything in return - Crunchies, Jelly Babies? etc..... If not don't worry, I would hate you to go to any trouble and I know what it would be like if I had to 'ferret through my drawers!', figuratively speaking of course!.

Take care love to your Mum.

Kate

Kate, do you mind me asking who you booked your flights with for August?

Not at all, I have just done it with Monarch. We were going to go the morning of the cruise, but Mike lost his battle with having to be in work to do the salaries and mising the ship, so we are going the day before.

I tried every which way to get the price down, apart from changing in Amsterdam, but the final cost was a huge £500, It is on the high side, I think because the return is on a Saturday before the schools go back. Chances are, it will go down, but I like to get everything in place, as I can start to relax about it:)

The price is good for a cruise and they honoured our obc, although we didn't get to speak to the cruise consultant, however, we had put a form in to ask for an appointment and they had logged it at Disney, which I thought was very efficient.

I walked around town today, checking out prices and I could find a 7 day for $639 per person, although that was with a very standard cruise line - no comparison to Disney, but it sailed from Southampton, so no air.

Easy Jet may come in fractionally cheaper, but we didn't think it worth the stress! Booked the Novotel again, one night, including breakfast £84, which I think is better than we got before! However, we won't be eating in the hotel that evening unlike before - over the road to Subway for us!!!!

It would be great if you decide to do it, last fling before the bad weather starts! we could joiin tables! (see I am getting the swing of it now!)

Kate

P.S One thing to bear in mind, if you haven't got the OBC. If you book with Disney, the grauties are extra, so we put these on the booking, so only really benefit from $100 obc. If you book with say Iglu, or ROL, then gratuaties are likely to be included. But if you do, check, if they think the booking will be lost because of them, they should include it. Also you can book a gty12 on the Disney website, although it says for three people, they upgrade you to a 10 or 11 I believe.

Best of luck

Thanks Kate, I was hoping you'd have some magic flight price you'd got. It's the air fare that's so prohibitive for us. If we could get to Barcelona and back wothout the cost of the airfare we'd be booking! Monarch is the cheapest i've found but for the 4 of us it's well over £500. Oh well...i'll keep my eye on the airfare and if it drops...you never know! I'd love to be on this cruise as I would be on over my Birthday.

Disney are so smart making these cruises so addictive:lovestruc

Hello fellow cruise mates!
Well, we have been home for a week now and the heat of the summer and the kids being home has kicked in. We really enjoyed being able to meet most of you. I think with our early seating, some of our paths never crossed. It was our first FE exchange and disboard meet, it was a great addition to the cruise. We had a decent transfer via Disney tour to London. We would not use Disney again though. I am curious to see how the private transfer tours went, Kate your ride back, and what you did Sinthia.

It is sad to see our thread getting bumped lower and lower into history. I see some of you are already involved in your next cruise. I wish we were going again soon. I will be keeping a watch on rates for December and next June.

We posted a blog of our cruise while in Europe. Take a peak further down to find mention of the FE. Susan, Leo did not make the picture because he was tucked in bed sleeping. The girls had a blast with everyone's treats and I loved the chocolate! Sinthia, you certainly made up for leaving your things behind! Our door went from boring to BLING. Thank you!
