June 5,2010 Relocation Cruise

Morning Everyone!

We are in full dance recital mode here so I am crazy busy. Last night we had dress rehearsal until 9. Now we have recital tonight & tomorrow night.

The FE looks great! I always forget about how much I love Tigger until I see him on something.

I tried making packing lists yesterday and got the following response - "Why are you asking me what I am going to wear on a plane in 2 weeks; it's probably going to be something I don't even own yet!" Oh well, so much for preplanning.

For all the walkers, I think I walk about a 14 minute mile. I am really short (5') so that's about as fast as I can make my legs move :rotfl: I'm not packing my sneakers though, it remains to be seen how fast I can walk in Tevas.

Gotta go...still haven't decided what I'm doing for FE gifts and there's a dancer wanting to know when she gets to start getting ready (the recital's not for another 10 hours :rotfl:).

MMM

Has anyone put Gibraltar on notice that we will be provisioning there???? I think one might find some nice French, Spanish and other interesting wines there. That is my Plan,

Oh I will be with both the Drinkers and the work out groups...

Also your Cabin Steward will provide you with wine glasses if ya ask.

Sounds like Gibraltar is going to get hit by some serious wine drinkers....Bring it on:cool1:

Hello,

The girls and I had fun last night decorating bags and sorting goodies for the FE. I did not realize how much space a bunch of little things would take up. So I'm expecting your edible items to be squished, but promise everything is fresh and new! Now time to get ourselves ready!

I've been reading on other threads about the pick pockets in Barcelona, so everyone be aware.

For those of you that live closer to the ports. Are you packing pants or shorts to tour in. Not sure on the weather.

This is very very very true, Barcelona PD has a unit just for this issue. Travel Smart

Good Morning Cruisers!

I am afraid I will be hanging with the alcohol crowd over the exercise crowd.:lmao:

The two do NOT need to be mutually exclusive :rotfl:

Carolyn and I are walkers, about a 14 minute/mile pace. We don't go every day. We also try to use the stairs as much as possible. Alex

We also try to use the stairs as much as possible!

Need to finalise FE gifts this weekend, unfortunatley there is nothing handmade or personalised in my gifts....I am feeling slightly inadequate!

No need to feel inadequate, although our gifts are handmade, they are not elaborate.

Hello,

I've been reading on other threads about the pick pockets in Barcelona, so everyone be aware.

For those of you that live closer to the ports. Are you packing pants or shorts to tour in. Not sure on the weather.

I am packing travel skirts and capris (or cropped trousers?), and layering for the top layer - light weight t shirts and long shirts to go on top.

Have a great day all!

So after many painstaking hours researching the excursions, I finally booked the following Disney excursions:

Gibralter - City Under Siege
Cadiz - A Taste of Caiz & Jerez
Lisbon - City Tour and Oceanarium

Still feeling nervous whether the girls (ages 6 and 9) will enjoy them. Our experience with excursions have always been active excursions, snorkeling, canoeing, sailing, etc.

Thanks Kate for sharing your photo of the FE, I really like your flag on the bottom. I was about to dedicate the entire weekend to making the FE when a girlfriend of mine volunteered to make it for me this weekend. :woohoo: She has made letter holders in the past (looks just like the FEs with larger pockets) and still has the pattern.

Also starting to get nervous about how to keep the girls occupied during a 8+ hours flight. The longest we have flown is to Seattle, a 5+ hour flight from Toronto.

Only 13 days left to pack :scared:

Hey, we do both. When we did the first transatlantic crossing and stayed on for the med cruise we brought 44 bottles of wine onboard in hard sider luggage (we shared the wine). But that went out of Canaveral so we could drive there. We hope to find a place to buy wine in Barcelona and carry it on the ship, if not we are getting a wine package. Alex

Scott- We have no plans for Gibraltar, can we join you and Lynn in the wine search? Alex

I was researching hotels for families and came across this great Web site on how to dress in Barcelona to avoid being a target for pick pockets.

The link to the Web site is within the title of this post. Have a look at the related pages at the bottom of the Web page. Great stories on popular picket pocketing "scams". The Web site is barcelona-tourist-guide.com.

Have any of the UK crowd got their travel documents yet? I booked with Virgin Holidays and I still haven't received anything yet.:confused3

i got mine by fedex yesterday. apparently one of the CMs from bluewater got hers too, the other one didnt, and my manager hasnt got hers yet.

K8T, shame on you for looking at the FE gifts thread! naughty ;)

Karen, now you have told everyone else on here!!!

They look great. Funnily enough, I bought one pin on ebay the other day, haven't got anymore, but was having a look. A Mickey wearing a bearskin (hat) and carrying a Union Jack. Just took my fancy!

We had our cruise docs from Disney a couple of weeks ago, with our lables. Although our flights we booked ourselves. I print everything off on line, only got to add Credit card details and we are good to go. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the links Re. pickpockets in Barcelona. I think it sounds worse than it is, we have always been OK, just keep everything out the way and keep an eye on what is going on around you. No different from any other city really.

Scott, we may give you our shopping list. ;) I can't remember if it is an Asda (Walmart), or Tesco at the port I think the latter, but you can see if from the ship!. Alex I like your style with the wine, we are going to get on well, OH is very very impressed!.:goodvibes

Booked for the Dolphins today in Gibralter, the guy said that Disney are doing the same trip at that same time and did I want to go through them. I told him that if I go through Disney is is £40, book direct, £20. I think he was a bit shocked at the mark up, but confirmed the book direct price, so it just means we walk five minutes rather than get the bus, I can live with that

Got the cropped trousers on today. You will definately need Capris and or shorts. We were in the Med at the exact same time last year and it was hot. I did have a couple of sweaters, but don't think I used them much. Just be prepared for showers.

Have a good weekend.

Kate

sssh, dont give away my (now not so) secret gift!

is the asda/tesco in barcelona or gibraltar?

A mission , a quest, sure please join us, we are prob going to walk over to the cable car or the lighthouse and hit the Wine o Mega Mart ( I made that up) to see what we can find.

Heck we might just offer this as an excursion, maybe we could borrow a hand cart from the ship or better yet a fork lift:lmao::lmao:

Wonder if my International Drivers License is good for a fork lift???:confused3:rotfl2:

After a little bit of research. I can confirm the supermarket is adjacent to the docks, where the ships berth.

It is in fact a Morrisons (used to be Safeway) and all alcohol is sold without VAT, which means it will be considerably cheaper (17.5%) than in the UK :cool1:

Location http://www.qype.co.uk/place/475173-Morrisons-Supermarkets-Gibraltar

Hope this helps, maybe meet you there!

We could all take empty backbacks and probably get six bottles each in them, and then haul back to the ship.......

Remember the transatlantic when everyone put their leftover liquor outside Ken and Shari's stateroom? I don't think they could get in their stateroom after all the alcohol was "donated" to them. :rotfl:

if not, i've got a UK drivers licence, so that should work as its a british territory!
can just imagine the scene now, everyone's queueing up to reboard, when the beep-beep reversing noise comes round the corner, and a forklift full of wine is being followed by a thirsty line of dis-ers!

It is in fact a Morrisons (used to be Safeway)

cant believe we go all the way to gibraltar and there's a morrisons there! :rotfl:

sounds like a plan to me! there'll be baileys in mine instead of wine though......

2 weeks today!! the novotel party bus :rotfl: will have been and gone and with any luck boarding will start soon, we'll be heading straight to parrot cay for lunch then hit deck 9!
then maybe one or two :drinking1: before the deck party:
