June 5,2010 Relocation Cruise

susan, i counted 19 rooms (18 gifts).
think this is the final count and scott is doing a list for us all.

same here about things to do in cadiz and lisbon, is the town centre within walking distance from the port?

hope you have a safe trip scott and lynn, have a great trip and see you on the cruise!

Have a great trip! :cool1:

I had to look up triscadecaphobia!!;)

See you next week.

Kate

just checked the news and the-thing-that-must-not-be-named seems to have quietened down, fingers crossed we all get to barcelona with no problems.

Have a safe trip, Lynn and Scott.

I am working on the spreadsheet and will post the complete list here shortly (after my boss isn't hanging out right next to my desk!) :rolleyes1

tell him its important, and that you need to do it! :rotfl:

Kate, Do you recall where or how you went to the beach in Cadiz? I thought we might find a beach after the aquarium in Portugal, but any other recommendations would be great. The Disney pool just doesn't match up to the sand.

Documents: We received our documents about a week later than others on the board. D also sent them regular mail, in the past it was always FedEx.

Hi

We went to a small beach called Balenario de la Calista, which was a very small harbour, so calm, warm water. There were were sunshades and chairs, which they came around and asked a euro for, but the showers were free.

Cadiz is very compact really and you can walk into town from the ship. But we got the HOHO bus right outside the ship. Below is a map of the route and Cadiz. It was around £12 ($18).

https://media.city-sightseeing.com/images/library/media/inventory/42/Doc/tour-map.pdf

We started at Stop 10. Did a long ride around Cadiz, getting off once or twice, saw some Roman ruins etc., so saw a little of the area, then got off at the Cathedral Stop 6. and walked a few hundred yards to the square and through town, back down to the beach - stop 7. We had some time here and got the bus back to the ship.

I can't remember how long it took to get through the town, but our 4 year old did it OK. She loved being on the Open top bus in the sun, and the headphones gave good information in English.

On the bus tour, we went past Playa Victoria, which looked great, with long sandy beach and play area for the children. (stop 4). I think we may head off up to here later on in the day this time.

Don't forget that the shops shut around lunchtime for Siesta and all the locals go inside, or to the beach themselves until mid afternoon, so do what you want to do in town first thing. The market is also open in the mornings.

If you want a large shopping area and department store, El Cortes Ingles is fantastic, they are all over Spain, one in Barcelona too. Worth having a look! (stop 12), A few years back I got some great bargains in there, still wearing one evening dress now!

So much to do and so little time!!

I have the same!! Keep swapping tabs on the toolbar to bring up my actual work!!!!!

Kate

just had a look at google maps, think i might just walk round cadiz, it looks pretty small and walkable, but lisbon is a lot bigger so might get the bus or something there.

Kate;

Were you the one who booked transportation in Barcelona? I have a feeling that the four of us will need a van, or at least something bigger than an airport taxi to get us to our hotel. What company did you use?

Adrianna

Hi Adrianna,
KT27 Put me in touch with a private taxi company to take us to our hotel from the airport.
Here is the link: http://www.suntransfers.com/airport...ation-shuttle=barcelona-city&poblacion2=10076

I have just booked our transfer and it was 40Euro for 2 adults and 2 children.
Hope this link helps:goodvibes

Thanks for the link. Just booked the minivan. We probably could have gotten away with the car, but wanted to be on the safe side. The last time that we did Towncar service at WDW, we swore we'd be upgrading to a van or limo from then on, as my husband was riding in the front seat with a suitcase wedged between him and the driver.

Now all I have to do is pack!!!

P.S. to all the Brits. A department store here has just started stocking Boden! Love it, love it, love it. Bought a maxi length sundress that I plan to pass off on formal night so that I don't actually have to pack a ball gown.

We are going to be doing lots of walking. Dwight is a horrible sheep so he isn't a big fan of buses or tours :(

Almost everything that I don't make my daughter is mini-boden. My husband continually asks why I feel the need to airmail clothes here...the sizing is wonderful....the kids can actually wear them for 2 or 3 years...and the quality is such that they can take washing repeatedly for 3 years and still be passed down.

Are you near a Nordstrom? Nordstrom and nordstrom.com are carrying mini Boden. Save the shipping. Still not the mama clothes, but one can always hope. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

OK...everyone do a final check to make sure your information is correct!

THANK YOU KATE for the CADIZ info! Now I won't be winging it. I think we will go to the stop 4 beach too.

Yensid - might want to put a question by ours, we will be trying to get out of our cat 11 room. jgura 6111

Looking forward to meeting everyone, we'll be keeping a look out at the terminal for hung over Disers. If you want to say hi, we will be wearing matching white t-shirts. (that still need to arrive)

Just rang them today... they say Disney have not yet sent them the tickets etc!!
Starting to get a bit worried now, will easyjet allow boarding without hardcopy tickets?
I must say Virgin have been completely useless whenever I've rung them up with queries (still waiting for the DVD!!)
Fingers crossed we should get something this week:sad1:

Hi
This is for all the Brits who are travelling by Easy Jet to Barcelona. As I still haven't received any information from Virgin I'm going to do what Kate suggests and print off as much as info as possible from the Disney site. I have the receipt for payment for the holiday which details which flight we should be travelling on so I hope that will be adequate for Easyjet.

The main thing I wanted to ask is...Is it just me or is Easy Jet's luggage allowance ridiculous? I looked at the allowable size for a piece of checked luggage. It doesn't seem any bigger than a little trolley case:eek:
and are they mad when they say no more than 20Kg per person or they charge £10 per kilo over. Gosh, I can do 20kg in shoes alone:rolleyes:
So I suppose I have to buy 3 small cases now, which is a bit of a pain unless anyone can tell me that I'm completely wrong and I can put all my diva clothes and shoes in one large case. What a headache:sick:

Roll on the holiday, we are all counting down the days in this household.
And for all the Americans that are flying to Europe, have a good flight and we'll see you on the "Move On the Magic" Party ship.
