June 5,2010 Relocation Cruise

Yensid - might waf nt to put a question by ours, we will be trying to get out of our cat 11 room. jgura 6111

Looking forward to meeting everyone, we'll be keeping a look out at the terminal for hung over Disers. If you want to say hi, we will be wearing matching white t-shirts. (that still need to arrive)

wrabitdad (6060) said they would keep a FE list on their door with updates for room changes. If you do change cabins, please leave them a note.

If you look for us in the terminal, we are wearing blue denim shirts with lots of embroidery on the back, if you can see the our backs as we will be the one's on the floor passed out from jet lag! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Alex

Hi

The main thing I wanted to ask is...Is it just me or is Easy Jet's luggage allowance ridiculous? I looked at the allowable size for a piece of checked luggage. It doesn't seem any bigger than a little trolley case:eek:
and are they mad when they say no more than 20Kg per person or they charge £10 per kilo over. Gosh, I can do 20kg in shoes alone:rolleyes:
So I suppose I have to buy 3 small cases now, which is a bit of a pain unless anyone can tell me that I'm completely wrong and I can put all my diva clothes and shoes in one large case. What a headache:sick:

QUOTE]

It's not just you, it is ridiculous. I haven't checked out the dimensions of the cases but I know the 20kg is stupid. I really don't want to have to take 3 cases so am either going to go on a spending spree in Gibralter and/or wear all my clothes to travel in! The only saving grace that I can find is that there are no weight restrictions on hand luggage so I intend to fill hand luggage bags with heavy stuff like shoes and straighteners etc.

Good Luck!:goodvibes

Thanks YenSid12222 for sorting out the FE :yay:

i think yensid's room is going to be the first stop on our FE delivery, he's going to have updated lists in his FE for us all

OK...everyone do a final check to make sure your information is correct!

mine is fine, thanks :)

sounds like everything is coming together nicely, not too long til we all leave now! only 10 days til we leave, and only 6 more days at work!

One word Ambien.......;)

We are in DTw right now flight to LHR in about one hour

Our info is good to go

have a great flight :)
are you staying in london or going straight to spain?

Three nights in london then to Normandy for four nights then espania

sounds like a great trip! have a great time and see you onboard!

quick question:
for things like room service tips and extra tips for CMs, are you guys doing it in euros or dollars?
i'm thinking of doing it in euros, they're in europe for 3 more months, and that way i dont need to go out and specifically buy dollars.

Welcome Anna! We live in Edenton, about an hour from the Outer Banks. DH was just in Charlotte last weekend for the NRA convention. He was in awe of the light rail. It wasn't in the last time we were there.

Hi desparatelydisney! Good to see another Carolina Couple will be on the ship. Can't wait!!!

Kate;

Were you the one who booked transportation in Barcelona? I have a feeling that the four of us will need a van, or at least something bigger than an airport taxi to get us to our hotel. What company did you use?

Adrianna

Not us, but I think you have the info. now!

We are going to be doing lots of walking. Dwight is a horrible sheep so he isn't a big fan of buses or tours :(

OH is the same, hates being herded, as do we really - waiting for people who can't tell the time, winds him up! Although with a five year old it is often easier to get a taxi and work to our own schedule.

Almost everything that I don't make my daughter is mini-boden. My husband continually asks why I feel the need to airmail clothes here...the sizing is wonderful....the kids can actually wear them for 2 or 3 years...and the quality is such that they can take washing repeatedly for 3 years and still be passed down.

We love Boden too, I didn't realise you couldn't get it in the States. Have you tried Joules, similar sort of thing.

THANK YOU KATE for the CADIZ info! Now I won't be winging it. I think we will go to the stop 4 beach too.

No problem, it really is an easy place to negotiate, but do go into the town area and the cathedral, especially down in the crypt, the girls will love the way the sound echos down there. There is a nice area placa outside, where you get get a coffee and an ice cream.

Hi
This is for all the Brits who are travelling by Easy Jet to Barcelona. As I still haven't received any information from Virgin I'm going to do what Kate suggests and print off as much as info as possible from the Disney site. I have the receipt for payment for the holiday which details which flight we should be travelling on so I hope that will be adequate for Easyjet.

The main thing I wanted to ask is...Is it just me or is Easy Jet's luggage allowance ridiculous? I looked at the allowable size for a piece of checked luggage. It doesn't seem any bigger than a little trolley case:eek:

Roll on the holiday, we are all counting down the days in this household.
And for all the Americans that are flying to Europe, have a good flight and we'll see you on the "Move On the Magic" Party ship.

Yep 20 kilos is standard now on all flights, including BA. I think with Easy Jet, you actually pay for your 20 kilos extra, so that has probably been included when you booked. It is usually one carry on, cabin size = within certain dimensions and one suitcase/bag with your 20 kilos in. You can only check one bag in and one bag with you in the cabin, so don't take three separate ones.

Monarch is the same, but we added an extra 3 kilos each, just to get my shoes through!!!:rotfl:

I am presuming Virgin booked your flight, have you got reference/booking number from them. As you will need this with Easy Jet. Disney isn't the problem, just do it all on line and print it out.

i'm thinking of doing it in euros, they're in europe for 3 more months, and that way i dont need to go out and specifically buy dollars.

Our gratuaties were included in our price, but we will still probably tip the room steward and our wait staff, if they look after us!!! If I pay for anything in the spa or hairdressers, I usually just add it on the receipt when I sign. OH had a lot of euros at work, as they were doing a lot of stuff in France and Spain when the 'you know what' kicked off, so is trying to get rid of them, which is good news, if he spends them on me!!.

Not long now. I had a look through some photos of our last couple of cruises tonight, to get an idea of what to wear and what not to wear!!! How sad is that, but trying to make a 'capsule' wardrobe!!!:confused3

All ironing done, except what I wear in the meantime, so just need to pack.

Is all of Western Europe on the same type of mobile technology? I just ordered a phone to use for the time that we'll be in Europe. I anticipate needing it while we're in Spain, but the last thing I spoke with the the rep about was the UK. Now I'm wondering if I should call back and make sure my phone will work in both countries. :confused3

I would think if it is able to work in the UK, then it will work in the rest of Europe. My phone will find the telephone company in that particular country and it comes up on my display. As long as the phone is for 'international' use, then you should be fine.

I have an iphone and am a bit concerned about roaming charges. I have heard all sorts of horror stories about people running up huge bills. I have data roaming disabled on my phone, but still worry a bit about it. Honestly, when I had my old 'brick' phone, life was so much easier ;)

That reminds me I must ring Vodaphone and sort out a Passport for my phone which gives me a set fee to call the UK. I believe too I can buy a wireless package for Europe for a week, which caps the costs too.

Kate

its actually harder for us to take our phones to the US than for you guys to bring yours over here.
apparently europe is tri band, but the US is quad band, so your phones should work over here, but only some of ours work over there.

k8t, guess that means you're tipping in euros? our gratuities are included too, but the last 2 cruises we've ended up tipping more as we feel they really deserve it. :worship:

where's all the nice weather gone? we get 3 days of really nice weather, and now its back to cold windy and dreary :(

This one is for the ladies..:thumbsup2

Would anyone like to share what they are wearing on formal night?! I need to decide if I am to buy a new dress or use one I have, so your comments will help me decide. DH is renting the tux so I also need to look the part:)
Alos, I've read about the dining rooms being a bit cold, is this correct? Would a pashmina/wrap do to keep me warm? I laughed when I got an email from DCL this week telling me to bring a scarfe and gloves :rotfl:

Only 9 days now until we're in Barca-single digits!!:dance3:

Oh, and also, is anyone dressing for pirate night. DS has a pirate outfit I may or may not bring...I don't think i'll be wearing anything piratey though I may look for a skull and crossbones t-shirt or something.

Thanks for the advice re not having tickets etc from Virgin yet.
I have asked them to send me the documents they already have .. and the disney tickets when they receive them.

A couple of other questions please if anyone knows the answer?

1. How do we know whether our booking includes tips or not?

2. There does not seem to be any dimension restrictions on Easyjet for the main baggage (just 20kg max). Is that correct?

Thanks

Karen

I have got a couple of black dresses which is my standard cruise 'posh' night, usually I have a Pashmina, or a crochet cardigan (bit more glam than it sounds!), as I find the Air Con. is usually chilly on ships generally. With a little bag and some sparkly earrings, it does the job. :)

As for Pirate Night, dd has her outfit, but we don't usually wear anything, maybe a stripy top (like smee) and bandana. OH will put an eyepatch on, but he doesn't do 'dressing up' - well not in public :rotfl: When we went on DCL before, they gave us bandanas at the meal, but I am not sure you get these now, I think I read they have cut down.

1. I was told when I booked that gratuities were included, when the guy re-read the booking back to me. It is also in our cruise info. Not sure if it will be our reservation info on the disney site - have you had a good look through your booking on line? If it doesn't then presume you haven't prepaid. Virgin should tell you if you ring up. I don't know how Disney do tips, someone here will know more, but usually you get envelopes and put an amount in and hand to your room steward and servers and Maitre D on the last evening.

2. The main baggage doesn't usually have a size restriction, but bear in mind it has to go on the conveyor belt and down into the depths of an airport and be thrown around by the baggage handlers

A standard suitcase probably won't allow you to cram much more than 20 kilos in anyway (i.e. a 80/90 litre case). If you take more than one bag to be checked in say 2 x 10kg bags, with Easy Jet, you will pay an extra charge for each one, so keep it to one. Think also that you may have to lug them around too!

So to sum up, you have one piece of hand (goes in plane with you), baggage, that has a size restiction, as it has to fit in an overhead locker. And one checked in suitcase of 20kg. Easy Jet are notorius for charging for anything overweight, that's how they make their money!

Hope this helps.

Kate

P.S Yes Karen, euros for us - didn't think they would want £'s

I have a long silk dress for formal night and Palo. We are wearing pirate T's, could not haul all the costumes on this trip. I'm also wearing all my dinner clothes twice....nice. The restaurants are all cold, sometimes the theater too.

We just used the large space saver bags from Target to pack all the kids clothes for the first time. They are amazing! Found them in the storage area. Ofcourse the weight is the same. It's just like the infomercial!
