We always go to DIsney in Sept but my DGS will start kindergarten this year so I am taking him in June for his 1st trip. How are the crowds & weather this 1st week in June usually?

We've done this week numerous times and will be there again this year. It's not as crowded as the rest of the summer and if you go with a plan and have your FP's you should be ok. We never have an issue. We do get there before rope drop.

We always go the first week of June. We will be there at the same time again this year. It will definitely be hot, but not as bad as August. Crowds build throughout the week as more schools get out and people head for vacation(my kids always get out the last week of May, but we live in the West).
Get to the parks first thing in the morning to beat heat and crowds, take a break at the hotel and swim during the hottest part of the day and then go back to the park in the evening to enjoy the shows and maybe a nice dinner. This is what works for my family, I hope it helps you. With a five year grandson, he will enjoy so many things at WDW, don't try to fit them all in. I have each of my kids pick their top three "must dos" and everything else is just icing on the cake. Maybe I'll see you there

I did this week last year for the first time. We are back again 6/3-6/11 this year. My DH, myself, and my boys (5 & 3). It is VERY hot and fairly crowded. However, if you have a good plan, then you will be okay. The best plan is to tour early morning/rope drop, take some sort of midday break - whether it be at your resort, a long TS, or indoor shows - during the hottest, most crowded part of the day, then back again for evening and/or nighttime touring. You don't really need fastpasses for the early hours...maybe starting around 11, give or take. drink lots of water, wear breathable or sweat-wicking clothing, get a stroller for your grandchild. If you think he will like characters, we do character meals so we don't have to stand in a lot of lines for the characters.

This . We always go first week of June and will be there June 2-13 this year. Agree with with everything you said regarding crowds, heat, and parks plan including afternoon breaks. Also want to point out to OP that June is the rainiest month in FL. You will get a thunderstorm just about every afternoon that can last a couple hours or into the evening. Has never really dampened our plans other than if were at the waterpark.

Hot (but not as hot as later), daily storm potentials (great time to be in parks), and crowded. I have been this week twice (4 years ago, and 12 years ago) and will be there that week this year. Our last trip is what determined we will buy park hoppers from now on. They were given to us accidentally (system mess up), and we hadn't planned to use them until a shoulder to shoulder day at Magic Kingdom. As the others have said, planning is needed, but be observant of the area and be ready to be flexible and change those plans to maximize your fun. Last trip we planned to do the mid-day break, but ended up opening and closing the parks every day and had the best vacation we ever had! This trip we plan on using Express Transportation, doing 4 parks in 2 days then taking it easy for the remaining 3.

Thanks for your great tips. Afternoon breaks will be important. I rented a stroller for him at Kingdom Strollers. I would rather he have it and not need it then need it and not have it. This Nana is soooo excited for this trip!! It is my DGS's first trip to WDW and I have been waiting impatiently since he was born to take him. Lol. We are 50 days away & now that all the planning is done, I can start working on how I will surprise him with the trip. Thanks to this Nana my DGS likes all things Disney and he will freak out when he knows he and Nana are going to The World

We always go the first week of June - our dates this year are the exact same as yours! Agree with what everyone else said, it's crowded, but very manageable if you have a plan. We always go early and take a midday pool break, then head back to the parks in the evening. Hope y'all have a magical trip!

I'm surely not usually a Debbie Downer, but... I took my son in June several years ago. Gotta say, never again! It was SO hot! I probably just hit a ridiculously hot year, but WOW!! I remember the one day being 97 degrees with 90% humidity. It was the only Disney vacation that I LOST weight! I really hope you and your grandson have a grand time...just giving my account.

We're accustomed to that time period. We'll be there with you too, 6/2-6/10. I agree with all advice. I've tried it, and it "works" (but just not for us). However, I wanted to add our lazy night owl touring opinion just in case anyone reading is like us; they actually like to sleep in on vacation and they're still an uber planner and wanting to maximize (rare combo for WDW I know )

Maybe bc we're south anyway, but the heat doesn't bother us. In fact, our allergies thank us for going down (TN is HIGH pollen 24/7). We now sleep in, but still find it a great time of year to make up for it later on! Bc we arrive late, we'll FP our 3 selections, then play FP roulette. With June hours typically being later, we get so much more done the last 2hrs before closing than we ever have the 1st two after opening. Then we close the parks down. Like last bus to resort down

Just for uber planners who like to sleep and vacation while on vacation , it's definitely doable the first part of June

Like others have said, June is a rainy time of year to go but that definitely does not slow us down, we bring our own ponchos from home and make sure they are in our backpack just in case...we love it when it rains, we are the type of people that if we are at our resort and it starts to rain, we will head back to the park because we know park patrons are wanting to get out, you will find much shorter lines then .

I also like when it rains. Lot less people in the parks. It was New Year's Eve a long time ago Hollywood studios was packed or whatever it was called back than. The rain came it was pouring. No wait for anything. Did Hollywood tower of terror 13 times that night.

I usually go week after Labor Day and it is pretty darn hot & very humid then but DGS starts kindergarten this year so couldn't go in sept. I have been so many times that this trip is all about him. What he wants to do/see & at his pace

We're there from June 3 - 10, too, and I've been nervous. It's our first summer trip, as I've pulled DS out of school for a week during the spring for the last 5 years (I miss you, Flower & Garden!!!! ). Everything I've read on Disboards has been WONDERFULLY reassuring, though. I'm expecting the higher crowds, higher temps, but we've got a solid plan and multiple battery chargers for afternoon thunderstorm breaks playing Pokemon Go.
