June 29, 2008 - Magic - West Coast!!!!

Hi everyone!

I've been meaning to post on here, but hadn't had the time! I finally got around to booking excursions today too!

It'll just be me and my boyfriend this trip :goodvibes

Hi Auroo, Em, Info,,,,, how are you all doing? I'm at the office right now and just killing time and resting. Posting on the other threads for the june 1 and june 5 back to back that we are doing. Still need to get some excursions. Probably won't be any left.
Bill

We actually booked in December. This will be my third DCL cruise- but first on the West Coast. My first trip was an absolute fantasy, but my second ending up being a total nightmare! Fingers are crossed for this trip!!

And Dan, I think you are referring to the June 1st and 5th sailings, but if not...I just booked excursions the other day for this sailing and only about 4 or 5 excursions were at capacity...

Can't believe this trip is approaching so quickly!

Hey Bill! How are you doing? You are going to be the 'cruise master' after all of these trips :) How cool! Let us know which excursion(s) you choose....we're so excited for our Pirate ship excursion   I'm still trying to convince my 11 year old DD that a dress is mandatory for dinner two nights....I took her to the store so she could pick one out, and she was HORRIFIED!! :scared1: :rotfl:

Here's hoping for a magical pixiedust: third cruise....you know what they say....third times a charm ;)

Hi Shipboard Gang,
I am family to Hawaiian Mickey and Kouris Family. There will be 12 of us traveling. Yippee! This is a rerun of our Mediterranean Cruise from last summer -- my first DCL! Nothing like it. Never had a better vacation. Hoping for a repeat.
Someone posted a ? about whether they would play a movie "Wall-E" that's being released while we are enroute. Just from my little experience, DCL did show Ratatouille while in the Med prior to its release in the US.
Also, what is a fish extender?

While I leave the planning up to the experts (seasoned travelers) in our family, I thought I'd ask what did each of you returning cruisers like about the ship?

What did I like about DCL? Palo's, KidsClub, Drink of the Day, Shopping Seminar, Walking Deck (okay, I only did it twice but it felt good to do it), Art Auction (ok, the martini's too), bond with family and meet really great people. Our DisBoard folks all met for a private party on the bow one afternoon and the captain came. Nice photo opp! What do I hope to do this time? Meet more great people! Can't wait to hear the meeting/organizing suggestions from all of you!

Hey Tiny Bubbles,
Have you booked any excursions yet or you just going to hang out with the locals, drinking all their tequila.:drinking1 Looking forward to getting on the boat, relaxing with a cold cocktail, having a lovely dinner at Palo's, celebrating Henry and my birthday. :cake: I think this trip will be a lot more relaxing than the Med. Boy did we do a lot of walking on that one. I didn't even gain a pound on a 12 night cruise, that is unheard of. I'll do it on this one for sure. I have been craving those morning yogurts from the goofy's galley for a year now, can't wait to have one, and the pizza, I love the pizza. I better go to bed, I am making myself hungry. Lets talk about what we plan on doing in port.

Ok, I am getting even more excited about the cruise. One month left and then school is out. I am counting down the days. I will then be getting ready for the cruise. I agree this cruise will be so different then the med. The med. cruise was not very relasxing. It was lots of wallking. But, we were able to see some great sites. This cruise will be very relaxing and fun. I am so excited.

Just curious...I've read many times that the Med cruises were definitely 'tiring'. Were there just lots of excursions that everyone over-did it? :confused3 I wish I could've seen those sights, but my DH and I hope to at some point :)

The med cruise was wonderful. We saw a lot of wonderful sites. But, it was a very busy cruise. We got up at 6 and had breakfast and was off on one of our excursions at around 7 or 8. The excursion would last till 5 or 6. We would then go to dinner and the show. We looked forward to the sea day because we were so tired. It was a cruise of a life time. We saw lots of wonderful sites and loved every minute of the cruise.

Aloha,Everyone,

Boy it's getting close to our trip:cool1:. My wife are going to Disneyland the day before the trip anyone want to meet at the Hearthstone Lounge or the Napa Rose Lounge on Sat 28th? Just want to meet a few people before we get on the ship.
We did this in Barcelona before our trip on the lucky triple 7 cruise. We met at a local restaurant an got to know alot of people before we got on the ship.
It was great to know some people before we got on the ship.

aloha,

hawaiian mickey:thumbsup2:banana::woohoo::yay:

We will be at the GC from Thursday to departure of the ship. We have a 5 yo (turning 6 on sail date), so I don't think Napa Rose is going to do it for us. But we are available.

We are also staying at the Grand California. I have a 9 year old and a 19 year old. We will arive on Thursday. I would love to meet up before we get on the cruise.

We'll be at Paradise Pier the night before. CAN'T WAIT!!!   But I wouldn't be able to take my kids to the lounge either...my DH and I on the other hand would LOVE IT  Anyway, can we all maybe find somewhere else? If not, maybe on the ship the first day? Or is that too hard to do :confused3 I know there's probably a lot happening. Any ideas?

Aloha,
We can meet maybe at the Hearthstone lounge. It's in the lobby of GC. Both lounges are family friendly. Go to both a lot. Families are welcome at both. You see a lot of families there because it's close to the side entrance of DCA. Plus we can bring our drinks out to the patio. That's where there is a lot of room to mingle.
Can't wait to see all of you at GC or on the cruise.:cool1::thumbsup2:banana:

Sounds AWESOME!! We'd love it. Anyone else? ;)

Em,,, We booked the pirate ship in PV today. Is it really good? It looked like fun, but I don't know with a 12 and 15 year old. What do you think? We also booked the BOB in Cabo. In Mazatlan, we wanted to do the beach thing, but it is sold out. I have done it before and we could do it outside of Disney, but doing it with Disney guarantees that I won't miss the ship. The beach excursion also has 4 wheelers that you can rent and drive on the beach as well as going on horseback rides. There were jellyfish in the ocean when we were there before.

Hi Bill! Good to hear from you :) Well, as far as the Pirate ship....my family absolutely LOVES Pirates of the Caribbean...the ride AND the movies. So that excursion was just a MUST for us. I have a friend that did it on a Carnival (I think) cruise and her entire family loved it. So I'm kind of going off of that. But it sounds like the beach part of it will greatly interest your kids...snorkeling, kayaking, etc. If I were that age, I'd pretty much dig on that kind of thing. I don't know your children, but just going on that age group. :) I also wanted to do the Beach in Mazatlan, and it was sold out.... Bummer! But for my clan, we figure since it's our first sailing, there's plenty to explore on the ship. And on another website, I read about the jellyfish. :scared1: That would immediately make me run away :rotfl: I'm kind of a wimp that way :rotfl2: So are you thinking you and your family want to meet us all the night before the cruise? I'm the dingy blonde who's eagerly anticipating her first Disney cruise!!! :rotfl:

Wow,,,, Your first Disney cruise. I remember ours. Seeing the ship is an overwhelming experience. Absolutely AMAZING. Something that you will remember the rest of your life. Also the entrance into the ship. Expect to have your names announced as you enter through the gangway. WOW!!!!!!!! They really do it right. It would be great to meet you guys the night before. Didn't you say that you are also staying at the Grand Californian? I don't know for sure what the plans for us are as of yet, but I do know that we are going to Knotts Berry farm and the water park with our Cedar fair season passes.
I am taking Billy to McDonalds right now. 1AM. He is hungry and yet we need to get up at 6-7 in the AM to go and see Mammaw in southern Indiana.
Have you considered doing the beach thing outside of DCL? The only concern is that there is no guarantee that they will hold the ship if you are late.
