June 27, 2013 - Magic in the Med (Venice)

Rome in Limo has a website just for people looking to share a tour and it helps to keep costs down. The drive to Pisa, then Florence and then back to the ship will be long...but I have heard Florence is amazing!! A friend of mine said that people who think the drive to Florence from the port is too far have never been there. My DS19, who went to Italy in 2009 with a friend agrees. It was his favorite city.

:thumbsup2
We're there:cool1:

We have room in our private tour for Rome if you're interested in joining us. We are going through the company Rome in Limo and so far have 2 families sharing. Our kids are older (16-20) and we plan on hitting most of the major sites with the exception of the Vatican. Only way to see the Vatican on this trip is if you go with a Disney excursion (due to our being there the last Sunday of the month there will be huge crowds and longer than usual lines)

Sorry for not getting back on the "ride share" for Rome yet. We just finished our crazy insurance stuff today. Yea!! So anyway... My husband and I are up for coming along with you guys. Send me a PM and we can get it all situated. Thanks so much for offering!

We are in ATL... Short delay leaving from home when we discovered we needed our employee ID for the rental car rate we got which was $100 less than any other available rate, so we took the extra hour to go home, get my ID, then back to get the car then back home to load up and go. S we didn't leave home until noon but it was fine because my brother couldn't meet us til 6:00 so he got to the hotel just a few minutes after us. We had dinner together then we returned the rental car and took the shuttle back to the hotel. Checked in online for our flights.... So now we sleep, have altar check out tomorrow, then off to the airport!

Getting SUPER excited, flights and hotel are BOOKED! Thanks for all your support on this last minute trip. Though timing (still) isn't great, as we probably will still be needed here in the states while we are gone, but oh well, they'll just have to wait,:rotfl2: We are getting in on the 25th and are staying at http://www.chicandbasic.com

You guys interested in joining my family of 4 in Naples? Nothing to think about or plan. We have a car and driver picking us up and taking us down the coast to Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Rovello (sp?), soak in the culture, check out the towns maybe jump in the ocean, eat some gelato, get some wine and lemon cello, stop for pizza in Naples. Sounds good huh?
A car for 6 is 400 euro, 67 euros pp, not bad for a private car and driver.

Just wanted to say that I hope everyone has uneventful flights to BCN. There have been several June 15thers who have had difficulty with airport issues and delays. Be sure to arrive extra early for your flight because it is better to wait at the airport than be a few minutes late, or encounter a long TSA line, etc.

I can't believe all the horror stories on that cruise! So many issues! Moral of the story, be at your airport EARLY, watch the news regarding strikes etc and be flexible!!!! :)

We only have to drive to O'hare, its about 1hr. 45 mins. Hopefully that will be uneventful!!!

I know, right? And double check your airline info for flight schedule changes... I would say do so daily between now and when you leave. A family that was originally scheduled for June 27th had a cancellation that set off a chain of events that means they are now sailing with us again but were supposed to be on this week. I'm happy they are back with us, but whew, so much stress for them. A June 15ther's airline had a flight share so when she got to the airport to check in, she went to the counter for the flight she thought they had but the fine print said she should be at the other airline's check in... They missed their flight because the line was so long at the original airline. So check and double check and triple check. And do the same for passports and other critical documents.
