June 26, 2011 5 Nights on the Disney Dream!!!!

I sent out an updated FE list a few minutes ago. Please let me know if you did not receive it and should have.

How about setting up some on-board meets? Maybe at the sail away party or something? Anyone want to take on this challenge?

Let me help you with that. What are you looking forward the most on the Dream?

Since it my first cruise ever, I'm looking forward to the whole experience in general. Several of my friends who have cruised before have told me that my friends and I will have a blast, but not to try to cram everything in because it just isn't plausible.

I am excited about the verandah though and being able to go out their to see the sunrise. I've already told my boyfriend I'll be waking him up early to see it at least one day, but he isn't too thrilled since he normally goes to bed after midnight because of work and doesn't wake up until after 10am.

You are half way there to be able to PM! Just do a few random posts. How's the weather where you are? Who is your favorite character? What is the first thing you want to do on the Dream?

Once you get to 10 post and can PM, please send me your email address, Your family's name, your room number and the names and ages of everyone in your room! Then I will email you an update FE list!

The weather is chilly, but has been warming up. We did get some snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning. I thought schools were going to get a two hour delay but we didn't. Virginia is ridiculous when it comes to snow, people act like it is the end of the world. Had to get up at the regular time (6:30am) so I could deal with the high school students for the day.

The weather is suppose to get into the 50's though this weekend which I'm looking forward to. :goodvibes

My favorite character is Tigger. I'm disappointed that he won't be on the ship due to the copyright laws or whatever it is that keeps them from being on them.

Princess wise I adore Ariel and Belle is a close second.

What is the first thing you want to do on the Dream?

Get a drink of the day, take in spectacular views and kick back and relax. I'll have just finished the 2010-2011 school year about 5 days before the ship sails and will be on summer break.

I have seen DISmeets had in certain spaces inside the ship...time for some TR research! We've got to have everyone meet to give out lanyards and have ample time for hello's, etc. so I would suggest the FIRST sailaway party as anyone with the 5PM dinner seating would not want to go to the actual sailaway. :)

Thanks for the update and for looking after the list! :thumbsup2

Now as for a first DIS-Meet... A lot of groups have used the Sail-Away Party for their initial gathering and it would certainly be a lot of fun. The possible down sides however are that it’s really crowded and rather noisy, so it’s a bit hard to find a good spot where everyone can get together and carry on any kind of conversation. In our past trips on the Magic & Wonder, our groups opted for a slightly more laid back approach. We would have an initial DIS-Meet at about 3:00 on the first day (because most folks have boarded by then) and usually at the “Promenade Lounge” (because is roomy, easy to get to and fairly quiet at that time).

On the Dream, there is a similar spot that might work. The “Vista Café” is on Deck-4 Starboard, across from Shutters and overlooking the main atrium (just head up the grand staircase and your basically there) Here’s a pic:

If someone just shows up with any kind of sign that has a big “DIS-Green” Mickey head on it, we’ll all be able to find each othet very quickly.

Another possible spot might be the “D Lounge” on Deck-4 amidships (which is generally used by DCL as a family gather spot and game area) .

We could also set up additional (and/or optional) meets on different days and at other spots on the ship to get together for say, coffee or join in as a group for one of the family games, or anything else you might think of. Our sea day should be pretty leisurely and might be a good time to try something like that.

Just a few thoughts, but I don’t want to be seen as trying to run the show, so anything y’all want to do will be fine by us. We’re just glad to be able to sail on the Dream in the first place.

I know that the D-Lounge is where you go to make all your reservations for Palo/Remy/etc. so it might not be the best spot. I love the idea of the Vista Cafe though! Not a problem that you suggested that though, thank you for the idea! Lol, I would never have thought of doing it there! I'm in favour of doing it at the Cafe. How about everyone else? :worship:

I think the Vista Cafe would be a great place to meet on the first day around 3pm. I could make a 8X10 picture of our lanyard logo and Green Mickey Head and have all the lanyards to distribute to the families.
I also like the idea of meeting up on the at sea day at the D lounge for family games. That sounds like a lot of fun!!

Okay for the tendering Mike and I have figured out how to avoid stairs however if there was an emergency I would be screwed because I don't do stairs well any one else have this problem

I agree!! The photo idea is great too!!!:thumbsup2

Ok, so my family and I are going to be participating with the FE's. What I'm wondering is, are we supposed to leave a gift for each person in the family or one gift per family or how does it work?

Some people leave a gift for each person or just the kids in the stateroom. others leave one gift per family it is up to you.

Yay for the weather getting better and warmer! We've needed that to happen! (I live in Prince William County!!! ;))

Me! I have a bad knee on one side and a bad hip on the other. Stairs are a real issue for me! Going both up OR down! Especially with people racing past me. And we are on deck 9!! :scared1:

The Vista Cafe sounds great to us! I can't wait!!!!

I'm enjoying the birds chirping this morning. Just another sign that spring is almost here. :yay:

You live in the neighboring county to me. I'm about 3 miles from the Fairfax County/Prince William border by the Occoquan river in Woodbridge.

Hi everyone,
Deadline to order lanyards if you are not on the FE gift exchange list is March 1st.PM me if you want them, they will cost $2.75 each.
I will place the lanyard order on March 2nd.:thumbsup2

I have bought the cardstock and printer ink to print up all the lanyard logo's.
I will be working on them the week of March 1st as I am on school vacation that week with my kids.

For all on the FE gift exchange list, 6 families have chipped in for the lanyards as gifts. A BIG Thank you to all of them.:grouphug:

***Also note that a great idea was given for everyone to meet on embarktion day at 3pm at the Vista Cafe on deck 4. I will be printing up our Lanyard logo on a big 8x10 sheet and also a green disboard Mickey Head so you can spot our group. At that time My family and I and anyone else who wants to help will pass out the lanyards to everyone.*** How does that sound to everyone?? If you can't make it at that time I will make sure to go to your staterooms and put them in your FE's sometime that evening. OK.:wizard:
