June 22 2012 New York here we come!

We still had our Character breakfast on our Alaskan cruise on the Wonder in August. That was a 7 night., so here is to hoping they continue it.

I know they had stopped it for awhile before, and then they started doing the Character breakfasts again. Actually, for a short time it was considered a "Character Breakfast" because the characters did a song during breakfast, but didn't stop at everyone's table. I think people complained and they brought it back, but that doesn't mean they didn't take it away again!

Ok, good news everyone. I just talked to my daughter on Facebook. They brought the character breakfasts back for the 8 night cruises. Even better news, there are 3 of them.

Great news ! I never been on a cruise with character breakfasts... Do you need to make advance reservations ? Is there an additional fee ?

If I remember correctly from reading, we are all assigned a morning/time, and there's no fee.

correct- no fee and they will tell you your assigned day and time. The da you go is based on your dining rotation

Hi, everyone! We are on the 6/22 sailing out of NY. It will be myself, DH, DD10 (turning 11 while on the ship...hooray!) and DD7.

We live in southeastern PA and are SUPER excited for our first Disney cruise.

Anyone out there sailing with daughters similar in age? Would love it if my girls could make some new friends and play while on the ship and in the clubs/at the beach.

Just cannot wait for these next few weeks to pass. Got our passports, sunscreen, SafeSea for the icky sea lice, just have to get some laundry sheets and we are good to go.

The washers/dryers don't take quarters, right? How do you pay for laundry again?

So glad to be on this board!

My DD is 9 turning 10 in September. I'm sure she'll be looking forward to meeting other girls around her age. Counting down the weeks over here in Southeatern MA......

Hi, welcome aboard!

My daughters are 10 and 7! We are in northeastern Maryland, where are you guys located?

My DD is really excited, what is your DD name? Maybe they can email each other before the cruise!

Washers and dryers are operated by your KTTW card, it goes right on your shipboard account...Those new Purex gel pacs work well, or the Purex 3 in 1 sheets are good for those washers too. Its easier to throw those into your laundry bag and drag them down to the laundry. What floor are you on?

J: where do you all live? We are in HdG. Are you going up the day before, or day of? Are you driving? I think we are going up on Thursday and staying overnight, then driving onto port in the AM

I am new to this forum and I need some kind of a key to what all the letters mean. Why do people use so many abbreviations now-a-days. Does it really take that much more time to write out the whole word. Maybe I am showing my age (I am NOT that old), but I'm just saying that it is sooooo frustrating when you don't know what the abbreviations stand for.

I am cruising with my wife, and my three daughters. Their ages are 11, 7, and 5.

I just finished reading all the posts in this forum (Took me a couple of days) and I realized that we missed the cut off for the "Fish Extender" (Not that I had a clue what the hell it is ;-)

Sorry in advance if this comes out the wrong way, but I am just trying to figure this all out. This is our 1st Disney Cruise (So Exciting.!!!) We went to Disney World in November of 2010 and stayed in Port Orleans.

Welcome - I am a first time DCL cruiser and it took me a while to figure out all the abbreviations too- in fact I think I ended up googling them to figure them out (then I found them in other non-disney forums!)
but a DD is a Disney Daughter - or Darling Daughter
DS - Son
DH- Husband
DW - Wife

there are more ... but you get the idea ...

Welcome! I too am interested in the 5K - from what I have gathered, they gather you in one area around 8 or 9 am, you walk off the ship together ... run ... there are some posts on the main DISBoard site but I am planning on doing it.

Hi! We are on deck 2 in an inside cabin. But, you never know with me. When we get to the port and if there is an upgrade...:lmao:

My almost 11 yo's name is Edie, the younger is Jesse (Jessica).

I prefer the Purex sheets myself. So easy.

Where is your cabin located? We live in Oreland...which is southeastern PA, outside of Philly.

I still get confused on all the abbreviations!
It was confirmed for me that there will be a character breakfast. I bet the fantasy does not have it because of the size of the dining rooms. Not sure if the characters still go to each table but if so it would take too long because of the pictures and autographs. I often thought they should ask for no autographs at the breakfast to be sure the characters can get to everyone.

anyone with a teen boy that might want to get in touch by text or facebook, etc before the cruise. My son just turned 16 a few weeks ago and I know it is easier to go to the club at first with someone else. If so pm me and I can give you Brandon's information.
I so hope someone posts the navigator's when they return!
did anyone end up linking dinner reservations?

Cool, my DD was checking this morning to see if you responded with your daughter's names. This is the first time she is excited to potentially find and meet other kids on the ship, as she is very shy. So whatever I can do to encourage her to actually DO all the activities is awesome!

I also like the Purex sheets, esp. when they are BOGO! Laundry rooms are on the 2nd floor, so good for you! They get really busy, though, and often times you can find an empty washer on 7, but not 2 or 6...
