June 21, 2007 (6/21/07) Cruisers Check In

Yes, Paula, we are all hoping you are getting better. The most important thing you can do for bronchitis is rest and just take it easy. Rebecca had a pretty serious bout of that dreadful thing a couple years back and, not to be the bearer of bad news but I believe in full disclosure, once you have it you become much more susceptible to getting it again. So be careful. This cruise, although you would prefer feeling alot better, may be just what the doctor ordered. Hey - there ya go, get the doc to write a prescription for the cruise and then you can write it off on your tax return. Hhhhhmmmm - I think, cough, that I am, cough, starting to not feel so well, cough, cough. :)
(Take that Uncle Sam.)

Well - Rebecca started to practice packing Monday. I know this because when it was time to go to bed, the bed was nowhere to be found. :confused3

So, Marsha, you will still be packing and unpacking all the way up to Thursday morning? You go girl!

And luvalldisney (if that your real name?), I almost started feeling sorry for you when you said you had to work from early August to early June. Then it struck me, I have to work from early July to mid June. :) :) Where is the equity in that? :confused3 Really, though, I have the highest respect for teachers, most especially in this day and age. God bless you!!! You deserve a break!

One week from right now, we (my group) will be on our way to the airport. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Wwwwooooo Hhhhoooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paula...glad you are feeling a tad better!!! I hope that you get better every day so on cruise day you are ready to go!!!:thumbsup2 Sorry you have to work when you are not feeling well, it often happens to us because subs are very rare on Monday's and Friday's. If you get sick on one of those days you often end up working anyway.
My real name is not Luvalldisney, it is Ellouise, but I am a disney addict. There is a 12 step program available, but you must first admit there is a problem, and I have not admitted it yet. Give me any reason to go to Disney World and I will usually take it. I live about 3 1/2 hours away, and I have done day trips!!! :rotfl2: So far this summer, I spent a week with my parents at a time share near Disney, I need to go up to a Girl Scout recording session in Daytona on Saturday and will spend the day at Disney on Friday, next weeks cruise and then from July 1-9 will be at Ft Wilderness cabins for a family reunion. Have not planned out the rest of July yet!!!!I just need my "Disney" fix on a regular basis. When I retire I intend on moving closer to my Disney fix and probably have to take a job as a cast member because retirement is 50% of salary. Of course....every day at Disney would not necessarily be a bad thing!
While Marsha keeps packing and unpacking, I pack once. Yes, I have things draped all over my apt, but not packed yet. Part of the reason I only pack once is suitcase filling and unfilling makes my cat very nervous. She has also been known to climb in and make herself comfortable among the clothes, so I try to only drive her crazy on one day. (then I leave making her very upset)
She was an abandonded kitty who spent hurricane Wilma in a cardboard box on the steps of the pet store. Storms only make her mildly upset, but packing and leaving is hard on her. During summer I am in and out, and with the packing, unpacking and storms she remains nervous a lot!
Can't wait until next week!!!!! Looking forward to the cruise and the deck chairs on deck 4.......

Wow, Ellouise, you really, REALLY know how to bring the envy out. I do not share the addiction you have - only because I can't - logistics being what it is... But believe me, if I could...... But then I do not do too bad. I have a picture of a young Walt standing in a doorway with the silhouette of Mickey on the wall beside him. I have a 3 foot tall stuffed Mickey and a 18" stuffed Minnie, and an 20" rosin/wooden Mickey on a Mickey pedestal and Mickey / Minnie bookends, a Mickey ears snow glove and various other Disney memorabilia just far too numerous to mention. And that is just what I have in my office. :)

I have a DVC vanity plate on my van. And I won't even go into what we have at the house.

So my hope is, Eric is very much into the performing arts. If I can get him to secure work at Disney World, I will just have to move to that area. Tee hee!

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!In one week we will be on board (or getting ready to board) on our WONDER ful cruise!!:dance3: I can't wait..... still gathering things together and have not packed yet. Can't give the cat too much pressure, as I am leaving for a weekend tomorrow and still haven't fully unpacked from last week!!!:rotfl2:
Know about the disney stuff over taking a house. I lost the roof of my house during Wilma so I lost a tremendous amount of stuff. I did manage to save a few precious things. My apt bedroom has my ear hat collection on the walls and that makes it very Disney (of course there is also the Disney picture frames, some disney collectibles and other odds and ends around!) My daughter just bought a 3 br townhouse and was trying to decide how to put her Disney things around without making it look like a store at Disney world! She decided most of her lithographs and such will go in the stair well going upstairs and she will get to admire them every day! It is hard to decorate when you want the mouse visible but not over powering!!!:lmao:
Pal Mickey finally got his passport, since his birth certificate was just a receipt from the store, it was hard!! His passport does not have any of the fancy electronics in it that they are doing now, so it did not take as long. I think Brady's Minn has had hers for a while. Well, you know kids they sometimes don't pay attention to warnings about how long something is going to take!! But, no problems, he is ready to go now! Still not really packed, I told him no more than 10 outfits for a 3 day cruise and he is still having a hard time deciding. Of course it does not help when Brady gives you a new pair of sandals and you have to take them and can't decide if you really want to leave your Nemo ones behind!!! Pal Mickey's wardrobe is more extensive than mine (and probably takes up more room). :rotfl2:
WOW!!WAAAAAAHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only 1 more week!!!!:yay:

:cool1: I week to go - I'd better get well quickly. Yesterday added pink eye to the list of ailments- and in my good eye too!! Sheesh. Consoled myself by ordering a few more things from JC Penney.

You guys definitely have me beat - I am sorry to admit the only disney decorations I have are coffee mugs. When cleaning out boxes in the basement we did find some older memoribilia from WDW - circular tray and (shockingly) a cigar - never smoked - in a cylinder case labeled Walt Disney World. I do also have old guide books and Alyssa has guide to WDW in french.

I'm still debating on what to wear day #1 - did decide however that Friday morning we're getting room service breakfast!!!:thumbsup2

El...I know what you mean about stressing out the animals when you leave - last for the firs ttime we left our dog home alone for a weekend (sister inlaw cfame to put her on her run - etc) - she was so stressed out for the longest time even if I left to justgo to the grocery store was difficult for her. When we all went away this Memorial Day weekend we debated putting her in the kennel but decided to leave her home - since she has the cat for company now - again sister in law came to feed them - etc and they were fine together.

Going to get some rest before work tonite.....

Ok I practiced packing again tonight LOL. I got to come home a day early from traveling for work WOO HOO. So what did I do when I got home this afternoon?

Well first Pal tried on his new sandals. Minn put on her new shoes to wear with her outfit to board the Wonder <G>

I tried laying down to rest but my mind kept racing do I have this, maybe if I packed this way it would work better, etc.... So after about 30 min laying down, up and adam.

Pulled out the already packed 30 inch rolling duffle bag and tried to see if all would fit in a 26 in suitcase. NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pulled out all the clothes (for me) and hung them on rod where I normally hang clothes to dry. Then practiced packing my clothes in a 21 inch suitcase. HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They all fit.

So a backpack will be carry on, my two checked bags: 21 inch suitcase and 30 inch duffle bag <G>

However, on my power chair will also be a bag carrying my power chair charger, a mesh backpack with rain ponchos, and other misc items.

Because of health issue i.e. heat intolerance, I was hoping to be able to pack my collapsible cooler, cooling vest and the four therma cooling paks in the duffle bag. Still may work, but if not then also on power chair will be the cooler with vest and paks inside.

I learned from last cruise (Jan this year) that all my decorations, arm bags etc.. on the power chair will be removed going thru security (they took off everything attached like my plush disney character key chains, etc..) Decided not to decorate the chair, or even have the arm bags on the chair until I get into the terminal after security. What a shame though, security won't get to see my chair all decked out with disney decorations <G>

Of course we have a few more days for me to practicing packing, trying out different ways and different style luggage, yes Ron I will probably be packing at least until Wed afternoon. I leave Wed afternoon to meet Ellouise at Cocoa where we will stay the night at a hotel near the port. Unless Ellouise starts unpacking my stuff, rearranging my stuff then I should be packed and ready by Wed afternoon <G> So if any packing is done Wed night or Thurs morning it will be Ellouise's fault not mine LOL.

This time next week good chance we will be either still eating dinner, watching a live show, movie, or having fun in one of the clubs, or maybe someother activity they have going on that night.
No matter what though as least we will be on the cruise WOO HOO!!!!!!!

I have several things to get done those last minute things like getting tip money, nails done, get spare set of crutches out of storage, and of course possibly repacking LOL.

Paula really sending you best wishes and prayers in a speedy and full recovery from bronchitis and pink eye. Keep us posted this weekend how you are doing.

Ron and Paula and who else in your party intereseted, don't forget to meet us at 3p in Promanade Lounge to say hi, and get the DIS cruisers going!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi gang!

Can you believe our cruise is so close?? I am determined to get as much rest as possible this weekend and take as many cold meds as possible.

Finalizing lists today and I think I'm going to reserve the Stingray Encounter on CC.

Ron - what's our hourly count??
Can't wait to see the "Pals" in all of their finery!!

Sorry to be away so long, gang. Yesterday morning about 8:15 my internet and email (at the office) started oscillating on and off. Did this for about 3 minutes and then completely shut down. So not being a big enough firm to afford a computer geek to keep things running, I had to put on a different hat. So after about a half hour I isolated the problem. The server and workstations were all fucntioning properly and the cable company verified that the modem was working properly. So, for some unexplained reason, my firewall had shut down. The only reason that we can come up with is someone tried to hack in. Not in this neighborhood pal. I do not have the BEST firewall - but awfully darn close. Anyway, spent the next five hours on the phone with 3 different technical support departments and finally got the firewall back up and running. Then because of the lost productivity, I spent the rest of the day (until late last night) playing catch up. Came into work this morning for a couple of hours and then it was off to Eric's school (an hour and a half drive) for a "parent appreciation" luncheon. Halfway there, I put on the brakes in my van, and the pedal went all the way to the floor. Fortunately, I got the van stopped without incident. So I will be working late again tonight, but thought I would just check-in.

Paula - I will take my problems over bronchitis and pink eye anytime. Get better soon. How long does pink eye remain contagious? We might just have to wave to you from a distance. :) :rotfl:

Marsha - I may have to spend some time tomorrow practicing packing the Prius. If I can not get the van fixed by Wednesday, we will be squeezing 4 adult size people and all of our luggage into the Prius for the trip to the airport. The Prius has an amazingly lot of room for the size of car, but this might just fill up all that space and then some.

OK - here it is: (assuming a 5:00 pm sail-away) we are now exactly 143 hours away from sailing. And only 138 hours away from boarding - if we board at noon. And only 113 hours away from our flight. And only 109 and a-half hours away from leaving the house. Let's see 109 divided by 24 - less than 5 days! :jumping1: :dancer: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo pluto: :goofy:

HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!!!!! HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!!!!!! HIP HIP HOORAY!!!!!!!!!!

PS - if you don't have anything else to do, feel free to check out my website at www.fassettandassociatescpa.com
It is a work in progress, but coming along nicely if I have to say so myself. And has a lot of good information there. After i get back from vacation, I am going to work on making it much more personal.

Nice web site Ron - very informative. Which reminds me-I still need to finish that dreaded FAFSA for Alyssa learning the hard way - middle class is no fun....

Sorry about the car woes - hope the luncheon went well.
Where is Marsha today? Not repacking I hope.

As for the pinkeye - I'm already on am antibiotic so hopefully I won't look too wretched!

Spent the afternoon resting and reading the passporter :thumbsup2

Marsha is here <G> Worked today, then headed to Epcot this afternoon. Just got home. Love the fireworks at Epcot.

I am sure to do something regarding packing tomorrow LOL. I have been planning on using a backpack as my carry-on (red one). But I also have a WDW backpack that I am now want to see if can fit everything into that one instead. So guess what I will be doing tomorrow? LOL.

Duffle bag is packed and ready. Carryon still have to make sure I have all the toiletries needed, documents, passport, dinner outfit for first night (in case for some strange reason luggage doesn't get to room in time to change for dinner). Oh and I bought a new sorta lime green sports bag this week. Now have to decide if want to take this to carry camera and few dollars for tips, or the camera case I used on the Jan cruise. In Jan I tied the camera case using it's straps to the arm of the power chair. Will need to see if the sports bag will do that too, will camera fit easily enough to get in/out in a hurry, etc...

So at least two decisions to make this weekend: 1. use red backpack or WDW one. 2. use lime green sports bag or camera case

You guys I am so OCD in planning, preparing i really need a treatment plan LOL.

Can't believe this time next week we will probably be seing a movie, oh wait it will be pirate night, so at the pirate party. Fireworks I think are usually around 10:30 or so. Way cool.

You guys I am so OCD in planning, preparing i really need a treatment plan LOL.

No kidding! I would never have guessed! :)

(assuming a 5:00 pm sail-away) we are now exactly 128 hours away from sailing. And only 123 hours away from boarding - if we board at noon. And only 98 hours away from our flight. And only 94 and a-half hours away from leaving the house. Let's see 94 divided by 24 - less than 4 days!

I mentioned to Rebecca late last night that we were only about 105 hours away from leaving the house and she sprung out of bed this morning saying she still has to do this and still has to do that. Isn't time a wonderful thing? It just keeps marching on. Want to stop and smell the roses? Better take a watch along. HA!

just so excited the more i pack and repack maybe the faster the cruise will be here <G>

Hi cruisers,

OK - that's it - I am officially sick of bieng sick. The cough is better and tolerable now - the eyes however can't get better fast enough for me.

Ron - I can't believe that I have not been out of the house in almost a week. I hope Rebecca is getting alot done.

Marsha - the Disney backpack of course. My carry on is my Disneyquest backpack.

Todays mission - set out the outfits per day - make a list of what is needed.

Paula - I do hope your eyes and cough clear up soon - and that you will be 100% by Thursday AM.

Question for you. That little ship on your time tracker is getting perilously close to the edge. What happens when it gets to the end of that scene? And please don't tell me that I have lived under a misconception all these years that the earth is round and not flat. Hhhhmmmm - now there may be something to this. It seems that every crusier I have ever talked with has actually been a different person when they returned from the cruise. Maybe the ship does fall off the edge - and all of these previous cruisers are really just aliens pretending to be the people they replaced. Are you listening Marsha and Ellouise? I think I have it figured out.:scared1:

Oh well - back to work. We ARE 5 hours closer to cruise time than we were last time I posted. Let me know if you need help with the math. :)

Here is some of that new math - we are awfully close to the time that we are suppose to leave.    :woohoo: :woohoo:

Ron....:lmao: you are overthinking.....when it gets o the end it just resets for the next Disney adventure of course!!!!!!:lmao:

Decided to get myself out of this house and do some fathers day shopping - FIL is gone for the weekend so we won't see them- think I'll buy my dad a CD - hope I don't scare the shopkeepers - haha.
Already have gifts for my DH - 2 pairs of shorts and a New England Patriots t-shirt that has the dates of the Super Bowl wins - bought that from the Pro-shop.

*** Ron - not sure if I had introduced the rest of my family to you - I do have a DH - been married 27 years this July - I also have a son - he was supposed to graduate from high school this year but didn't - typical example of very smart kid - always hated school - wrong crowd - etc - he is the sourse of much stress and heartache for me. Thankfully he is now working a fulltime job with a surveying company - hopefully things will get better. Alyssa - my cruising partner turned 20 on June 5th - she is going into her Junior year at the University of Rhode Island - majoring in accounting - I know I told you that (small world) - I;m sure she'll enjoy meeting you. My DH works as a site designer for a civil engineering firm and I work for a 24hr company that provides repairs and maintenance for retail stores nationwide - I am on the "after-hours staff" - I work from home. Also dog and a kitten. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!!

This is my first cruise - I've been to WDW several times - first time was in 1973 for my parents 25th anniversary (stayed at the Contemporary for $60/night:scared1: ) - 1974 with high school band (marched in Main Street parade) - 1977 with college friends - 1981 with husband - 2000 with kids (AllStar sports) - 2002 with kids and another family (All Star Music) - 2005 girls only with my college roomate and best friend (Wilderness Lodge).

:cool1:  :yay: :hyper2: :rainbow: :sail:

4 DAYS!! Oh yeah - that's right - 4 days!!!!!

Ron - a very Happy Fathers Day to you!!

Marsha - you'll be glad to hear that I have started to lay out my clothes......I think I need more - :rotfl:

Lists started....

:upsidedow you must remember - I'm used to camping where you pack like 4 things and wear the same clothes - :rotfl2: - now it's coordinated ourfits - jewelry and lets not forget the dreaded IRONING :scared1:

Plan so far is that I will be wearing white capris and a lilac tank top upon arrival - not sure what Alyssa is wearing yet but oh yeah - I'll be the one that is so not tan....hahahha - and we'll both have our mouths open in awe!!

:woohoo: okay guys!!!!!!!!WAHHHHHHHHHHH WOOOOOOOOOO:cool1: the cruise will be here soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!Have been on one of my weekend jaunts so I was unavailable since Thursday and I missed a lot of stuff. Paula I hope you are feeling better....sleep as much as possible before Thursday because once you get on the cruise you will want to do everything and there is only about a 3 hour window that does not seem to have anything going on (about 3 am to 6 am) so only sleep then!!!!!!!!!! :coffee: Ron it looks like your dreaded 3 problems have already occurred so all will be well for the cruise, just think that even if there is a computer problem :surfweb: while you are gone, you can't do a thing about it....3 whole days without work related problems!!!!!!!:woohoo: As for Brady, yea,I am sure she is repacking again, (can't find a smiley face that is packing a suitcase) but it gives her something to do between trips to WDW (oh yea, she has to also wedge work in there somewhere!)....At least she is the one repacking not Minn!!! As for me the cat has taken up residence in the suitcase, all my stuff is out and spread all over the bedroom and not packed yet. Just the cat is packed (oh yea, she can't go...guess I will have to unpack her). Pal Mickey has thrown his clothes all over the room again, still can't confine himself to 10 outfits.:rotfl2: I too am a camper, but live by the Girl Scout motto, "BE PREPARED!" Have one whole duffle bag filled with things that I may need on the cruise, but will problably not really use!!! It is just the scout in me I guess :yay: Can't wait...I leave in only 2 days (today does not count and the day I leave does not count!) so much to do and so little time!!!!!!!!!!!CAN'T WAIT:dance3: Looking forward to meeting everyone, but mostly looking for that first glance at the Wonder, WOW, it is so awesome to come over the bridge and see her just sitting there waiting for you.:cheer2:

DISNEY WONDER HERE WE COME!!!!!!!!!!!:sail: PIXIE DUST TO EVERYONE THAT YOU WILL HAVE A SAFE TRIP, FEEL BETTER, GET ALL THE PROBLEMS AT WORK IRONED OUT AND HAVE A GREAT CRUISE!!!:tinker:

Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! OH MY GOSH! The week is here!!!!:cool1:

(assuming a 5:00 pm sail-away) we are now exactly 81 hours away from sailing. And only 76 hours away from boarding - if we board at noon. And only 51 hours away from our flight. And only 47 hours (leaving time was adjusted - I guess because we are all so anxious) away from leaving the house. Let's see 47 divided by 24 - less than 2 days! WWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOO HHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Paula - Rebecca and I were married July 28th, 1973 (she's a couple months older than me and had to buy my beer for me when we first got married because I wasn't old enough :) ) Rebecca was a Registered Nurse for several years and then went back to school to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She was a practicing CRNA for twenty years and was among the best of the best at her trade. But as our society became more and more litigious the stress (in an already extremely stressful environment) became overwhelming and she just walked away. Now she helps me in my practice doing alot of the administration stuff - on a part-time basis. We adopted Eric when he was 5 months old (I like to say he had all of the bugs worked out by then - for example, we already knew he had a milk allergy - so there was no trial and error experimenting :) . That was on August 25th 1990. And as much as I love Eric and would give my very life for him, I will never be able to show him the love that his birth mother did when she handed him to us. (That whole story is just a phenomenal story.) And we attended Disney World for the first time in 1993. And the rest, as they say, is history! We were hooked!:goodvibes The remaining residents of our home are Maggie (my German shepherd that Rebecca got me for Christmas a year and a half ago - she was suppose to be my office dog, but Rebecca fell in love with her and I am not allowed to bring Maggie to the office anymore), Nikki (a peekapoo (or something like that) that we inherited when Rebecca's aunt passed away a few years ago), Micky (a Shizu) and Misty (the remaining half of a pair of sister Blue Tip Himalayan/Siemeze). Oh yeah, and whoever is sleeping on the air mattress on any given night (Eric's friends).

Thank you, Paula, for the Happy Father's Day wish. It was a good day. My own father passed away a year and a-half ago (my Mom passed on at a very early age in 1983 - she was 58), but my step-father-in-law, Eric, Rebecca and I went to breakfast at Burger King, took in 9 holes of golf and then went back to the house and grilled up some big fat rib-eyes and some sis kabob. Rebecca came along on the golf outing to drive the cart. (Her Dad passed away several years ago and her Mom passed on two years ago.) So, yeah, it was a good day of fun and fellowship. (And yeah, I let those guys beat me at the golf game :) )

Ellouise, thanks for the thoughts, but at the risk of angering the "problems come in 3's" gods, let me just state that when you are in business for yourself, they come in bunches and they come continuously. But that is just the way it is. The van goes in today to be fixed, hopefully. And as to 3 whole days without work-related problems? Eleven days sounds alot more appealing to me. We are leaving early on the 20th and not returning until the wee, wee hours of July 1st. Rebecca has given the neighbors and her sister and her step-dad and my employees a copy of our itinerary - with the caveat that it darn well better be a true emergency if they would need to track us down. And they all know that I am as serious as a heart attack about that.

Marsha - how's the packing coming? I was thinking about this packing thing and it occurred to me that Rebecca is actually packing for three separate trips: the cruise, obviously; and that will be followed by 5 nights at Disney World; which will be followed by a night in Miami. Bless her heart!

You all have a GREAT DAY! And we will see you soon! :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :dance3:

WOW ONLY ONE MORE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't count today or the day we leave:lmao: Can you believe it is almost here and then this thread will be obsolete.................................Wow, I can't wait :dance3:
Hope all is going well and Paula you are feeling better. I also hope Alyssa has finished her shopping, because time BEFORE the cruise is running out. (Of course there is always the shopping ON the cruise!!:rolleyes1 ) Ron, I know that you have 20 days without work, but it is easier for some one to get hold of you at WDW than on the cruise, which is why I said 3 whole days without work problems. But, I know that vacations are precious and you deserve 20 days without the thought of work or its problems! :woohoo: Marsha, I hope that your repacking is coming along well, and the weather gods are good to us on this cruise! :cheer2:
I am so excited  can't wait!SEE EVERYONE SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cool1: Good morning all.

It's safe to say that I now have "lists of lists" - hahahahahhahaha.

Todays list:
1. Wake up Alyssa (hahaha - that's a task in itself)
2. Hair cuts and color - wash away the gray for me - gotta look purty for the pics - haha
3. Shop for Alyssa
4. Iron clothes
5. Fill out forms
6. Do misc shopping.....*** should I buy a "bigger memory stick? and will I need a disposable underwater camera??***

Ron - sounds like you all had a wonderful day yesterday - I hope you get a chance to tell Alyssa about your "menagerie" - she is a confirmed pet lover!! She started volunteering at our local animal shelter when she was 14 - they hired her formally at 15 and she worked there until last year - the only reason that she left was because she was not allowed more than 12-15 hours/week.

El..(hope you don't mind me calling you that) - is that cat still in the suitcase?? I think that's where mine will be today for sure....

Speaking of said cat - husband reports that he got up this morning to a shattered glass on the kitchen floor - yuck - right near the dogs bowls too - I'm guessing some little missy was bored last night!!

Marsha - STEP AWAY FROM THE SUITCASES....no more re-packing for you - Minn....be good!!!!!

I guess you can tell that I'm feeling better and sooooo very excited!!!!!!

Marsha - what night are we having Alyssa's birthday cake?????
