I’ve just started planning for June 14-18 (a short stay before a week at Anna Maria Island — we “won” a travel package at our kids’ school gala). It’s so hard booking ADRs and making plans without having booked a hotel room! Every other time I’ve planned has been with a discount of some kind.
I take it from the variety of responses above that some people book without discount and some wait ... I guess I’d like to wait — otherwise POR is the only hotel that fits my budget and while we love it, we want to try something new — but I don’t know if I can wait until MARCH!![]()
@bluezy: Are TAs the only people who can rebook rooms at a lower rate? I have to review the rules on room-only packages v. room-and-other-stuff packages and all that stuff; it's been so long. I usually do room-only bookings and get everything else separately. (The only time I worked with a TA was when I combined a day at MK and a cruise, hoping that she could help us score some discounts I might not have access to. It ended up costing pretty much exactly the same as it would if I had done everything myself. I clearly didn't know how to use the relationship to better advantage.)
I used to do our reservations myself, but I found a TA I really like about 10-12 years ago so now I just let her take care of our reservation/package. I still do our own FPs and ADRs. I think it's important to use an Earmarked Disney Travel Agent -- they have a lot of specialized training.
