**June 2016 check in**

Nooo!!! Don't fall down that rabbit hole with me!! LOL!!

What's keeping me calm right now is knowing if we forget something, we'll have a car and a Target close by.

And new worry as of a couple days ago is our room type at HoJo. We booked through Disney, and on another thread HoJo answered my question about what kind we'd get and where we'd be located (generally speaking, not specifically), and said we could upgrade, but online it's saying they're sold out for our dates, so I'm looking at double beds for 8 nights. Not the end of the world, but still. Just one more thing to obsess about for the next 11 days!

Yeah, double beds kinda suck but hopefully they're at least comfy.

I think part of my worry is my hotel reservation just disappearing and being helpless. Last time we drove down, so we had the freedom to control where we were going. We're flying this time with a couple of short term car rentals, so I think the dependence on the airline and the hotels to not mess up is making me a little nutty.

We're also driving down to San Diego from DL, which is completely unfamiliar territory. Some days I wonder what I was thinking, as though I bit off more than I can chew.

I'm a natural worry wart so this over thinking thing can't be helped.

I am getting super excited now. Last night was my DD's HS graduation and next week is my youngest's Kindy graduation so we are getting close. I have to start making packing decisions very soon.

Just checked our front page...there's a couple of us there now and so many of you on the way in the next couple of days!!

For those of you traveling during my week of 13 - 21, I'll try to check in a couple of times and maybe we can say a quick hello in the parks!
I plan to do a trip report when we get back, I hope some of you will too!

We will be in the park the 14th-16th and the 18th & 19th. The 17th is our rest day, and I got tickets to Finding Dory at the DD theater that day. :) We'd love to meet up one of those days.

Great! We'll be in the parks the 14th, 15th, 18th, and 20th for sure, and one more evening TBD. Surely we can make a meet up happen!

Happy graduation to your kids!!

Reading where some are taking a whale and dolphin cruise. While we see many dolphins on the Gulf coast.. we do not see any whales. Any recommendations on a good whale watching cruise?

Thanks

After researching here on the DIS, as well as Trip Advisor, we are going with Captain Dave's out of Dana Point. http://www.dolphinsafari.com

We are scheduled for June 15, and I can report how it went.

It was funny, but when I booked online, there was a space for "How did you hear about us?" I put DIS boards, and when someone called to confirm, they had to ask what that was! :disrocks:

I had fun talking to someone in the AAA California call center yesterday. Last Friday, we went to our local AAA office to get maps. Since we are in a smaller city in the Midwest, the only maps they had were a CA state map and a Greater LA map. Neither are specific enough to really cover Anaheim, John Wayne airport, and Dana Point. Yes, we will have our phones, etc., but I really like to have paper maps too. When I tried to order maps online, I had some technical difficulties that IT has yet to resolve. When the Midwest regional office person got back to me, she informed me that those area maps are not available in the Midwest at all. So, I called the Costa Mesa AAA office. I was routed to the call center, where the customer service rep gave me the address and hours of the AAA office closest to the DLR. She is also sending me the maps I need, with the caveat that they may not arrive before we leave home. At least we are giving it a try. Otherwise, we may be able to stop on the way from the airport to the resort.

We're using Newport Landing Whale Watching, newportwhales.com. I don't know if they're good or not, though! It's a 2.5 hour cruise. I found a Groupon for it after deciding it was the one I wanted to use, so that sealed it.

We are able to count down on 1 hand now ...5 days to go and I still have a ton of things I need to do before we leave (I am really starting to freak out now). I am so glad that I don't have to work today because I can get most of my chores done (I don't want to be crunching it all in this weekend). Not only do we have to finish packing, but I like to make sure my house is thoroughly cleaned and no laundry :laundy: needs to be done when we get back...I get OCD and anal when it comes to all of that.

Yes to having a clean house and laundry done upon your return! I like to have clean sheets on the beds, too. :)

I'm trying to get things put at least in a box that need to be packed. We still have school until June 17th and we leave June 22nd. My girls are also in the middle of rehearsals for dance and they are performing The Wizard of Oz. I'm busy helping with costumes and not getting home until 10pm every night has limited my planning. Shows are 17th, 18th, & 19th so doesn't leave me much time.
DH still wants to book the WoC dessert meal but I'm still have a issue with the price of $400 for all of us. DD7 and I are making a Disney journal book that she can take with her and update.

I'm so excited. At the end of my crazy day UPS came and dropped off our tickets and travel vouchers. Sent a picture to my niece who is coming with us to get her excited (which is not needed as she is beyond excited). I'm just glad I was home because I needed to sign and I would have needed to wait to have them delivered again.

Last minute early birthday trip is booked ! June 30th - July 4th at HoJo :)

You will do fine with the drive to San Diego. I-5 is very easy to navigate! :)

OH!!! We were thinking of getting tickets to Finding Dory too! We are leaving the day it comes out but not until the late afternoon. How did you purchase your tickets? I am wondering if it is going to be a zoo there.

Hi there!!!! We are leaving a week from today!!! I can't believe it. Anyone staying at Beach or Yacht club around the 11th-17th? I have printed off a bunch of different disney packing lists I have found. What is something you always take that some people wouldn't think of? I have disposable rain panchos, moleskin, and the usuals. Do you buy special socks for moisture wicking?

I hope you have a great trip to Walt Disney World!! This is the Disneyland June thread, but you can find the WDW one HERE.

(but to answer the sock question, my kids and I are flip flop wearers at Disney World, but my husband's socks are all mostly moisture wicking...I'm not sure if they're more helpful, but I feel like it can't really hurt anything!!)
