**June 2016 check in**

Hello ladies and gentlemen! I am ecstatic to say that I'm going to be back June 18th - 25th for a big birthday blowout! That's right; EIGHT whole days at Disneyland! Am I going to lose my mind? Am I going to ride Haunted Mansion 20 times? Possibly yes to both

It looks like weekday hours will only be til 11pm, based on the first few weeks already posted. Rumors were flying things would be cut to pay for Shanghai and it looks like that might be true!

Hmm, call me crazy, but I don't think this is THAT big of a deal; especially when you've been in the park all day already, 15 hours instead of 16 doesn't seem like that much of a difference? Especially for the people like me that're staying longer than like 3 days; I remember last summer when I went, when I tried to stay in the park the entire time I was pretty much dead the whole next day

For me it does make a difference, that hour. I only have 2 days in Disney. In other years when the park has been open to midnight, I usually leave the park around 11. I like to leave before the big main crush at park closing. That way the bues are not crowded and I can get a seat on the bus. Also last year Paint The Night was on at 10.30, which meant that lines were shorter for rides at this time.

The hours are not up for my days yet but if the park does close at 11pm, it means I will be leaving the park around 10pm, which means I am losing an hour in the park. An hour at that time of night is a big deal as the park really empties out around fireworks time and rides which had wait times over 70 minutes during the day are walk ons.

You COULD change up your routine a bit, just this once; I mean, admittedly I haven't been paying as close of attention as I could, but once the new park in Shanghai is open, none of this is going to be much of a problem anymore, right?

I am curious about the Shanghai opening too. So once Shanghai opens, when does Disneyland go back to "business as usual"?

Also, the last time we were at DLR, the parks ended up staying open an hour longer than the posted hours. It was announced over the loud speakers mid way thru the day. Is that still happening now?

Add us to the June list! :) It will be me, DH, DS 20, DD 16, and DS 13. We will be staying at the new Homewood Suites June 18th - 29th. We will have 5 DLR days, 1 day Universal, 1 day San Diego Zoo, and the rest is to be determined. We will probably drop the first day at the Homewood and stay closer to Universal the first night after flying into LAX.

We have had many DLR/Southern Cal trips over the years, but this trip may present some new challenges. Our DD who already has major anxiety issues has had joint pain since August. After many tests we've determined the most likely source is bad side affects from her anxiety meds. She had to do a very slow taper due to withdrawal symptoms and is now about 1 month free of the meds. We are slowly seeing signs of the pain lessening. Long story short (too late) even if her joint pain fully subsides by then, she may not have much stamina for all the walking and standing. I need to be prepared with how things work if she may need to use a wheelchair to reduce the walking and standing. Oh, and how to convince an anxiety ridden teen that riding in a wheelchair does not mean everyone will be noticing and staring at her. :scared: It will help DL is her happy place. Wish me luck!

Not sure if anyone responded or if you have convinced the teenager to try a wheelchair but.... Tell her wheelchairs mean less wait time. I used motorized scooters when I was pregnant and believe me they help with pain after a long day.

The Disneyland calendar shows a grad night on the 18th. When do the grad nights end? Just wondering if that will be the last one?

We were there a few years ago during grad night and didn't even notice a difference between grad and non-grad nights.
Grad nights increase the teenage population. Why they don't still do grad nite at night is beyond me. Half the fun of grad night was all night at Disneyland.

You are right, the last grad night on the calendar is the 17th...I was mistaken!

Temps over 100+ would be too hot for me even if I was the only one in the park!

When temps get hot find a shady spot on Main Street get something cool to drink or eat (Starbucks and Gibson girl ice cream are on Main Street) then wait for parades or fireworks to start hours later. No I'm not kidding I know people who do that.

I'm not sure it ever will go back to business as usual. There are reports/rumors of tower closing in August and being turned into guardians of the Galaxy. That doesn't really seem like normal to me.

I'm going with my sister June 16-19 staying at PPH. I am impressed with all you dvc members actually getting VGC I haven't stayed in a villa there since the first 6 months it opened. Way too hard to get in. Besides I like the headboards and water slides at DLH for my girls better. This will be my first trip EVER without my girls. Not my first trip to DL.

We are there at the same time!!!!

Any of the June folks as annoyed as I am that Soundsational & Magical Map are on limited schedules?

Yeah, I read about that. Seems peculiar, but hey, they ARE just rumors, and even if they are true, it sounds like it's just an overlay, like the sort of thing they do to Space Mountain; doesn't seem like it'd change the ride much

Obviously though, Tower of Terror is one of my favorite things in the park, so any sort of change would be pretty bad

We are! We're especially disappointed about the Magical Map. I think it's one our kids would have enjoyed but I'm not sure we can make it work on this trip with the limited schedule. :-(

I'll check back in later to update the traveler log!! It's the last week of school so lots of non-vacation related things taking center stage, when all I want to do is think about our trip in 4 weeks!

Anyone else concerned about the Fastpass +? I am worried it is going to start up right in the middle of our trip! I believe at WDW you pick 2 or 3 rides per day? Wonder how it will be rolled out at Disneyland and really, really hoping they roll it out AFTER our trip!

Headed to Disneyland FOR OUR FIRST TRIP the week of June 20th. We are WDW vets, but heading to California for my SIL's wedding and decided to make it into a fun family vacation.
