June 2013 pin code watch !

Joining the group as well. :cloud9: Just decided yesterday that we were going, but the details are still to be determined. Trying to find the best deals and tricks to lower costs. A room discount would be most awesome!

I just took the plunge and booked a room at POR next June 2-9. :cool1: I'm hoping for a discount code at some point in the future, but at this point we'll be going either way.

I think we might be staying there as well. We're going regardless but I'm definitely hoping for a discount of course! We just haven't narrowed down our dates. School gets out on June 19th but there is always the possibility of extending days due to snow....but the past two years school has gotten out a few days earlier because we didn't use our snow days.

Hoping to be able to head back in June as well. Caught the last weekend of SWW this year and tho it was fun, prefer not to do it next time (or just visit HS on a weekday)

Disappointed to not receive a bounceback offer after our recent stay so I am hoping there will be a free dining offer for next summer!

We were there the last Friday of SWW this year. I didn't think it was too bad while we were there. We didn't really do any of the SWW stuff. Well the DH & oldest DS rode Star Tours (I'm thinking they waited 15 minutes maybe), and the DSs and I did the Build a Droid thing. We did have to wait 2 hours for TSM and an hour for RNRC, but I would think that would have been about normal even without SWW. I can image it being really crazy on the weekends.

We did get a bounceback offer in our room, but the DH wouldn't book it. I wish they would offer free dining for some summer dates, but I don't see that happening.

Was HS just absolutely packed during SWW ? We're planning to go June 1-8 and I thought maybe we'd try to go that Sunday that we get there in the morning... just to see what it's all about. It looks like alot of fun, but not if it's a gazillion people! ;)

We were at SWW on the third weekend, it was a Friday. This is what we did in one day including an afternoon break at our resort:
Rode ST 4 times ( my DH and dd15 rode 6 times) Between 9-10 pm there was no line and we got 3 rides in.
Muppet show
one man's dream
animation studio including the drawing class, pictures with Pooh, and the voice over thing in the back
TSM twice, both with fastpasses
watched the star wars parade and the evening SW show ( can't remember the name)
My dd11 and I saw part of the Little Mermaid but were evacuated due to the electrical sign outside sparking.
10:30 showing of Fantasmic- great seats- was not very crowded- we went in about 20-25 min. before the show and were seated front and center.
Also- forgot we saw beauty and the beast, too!

We'll go again. I didn't think crowds were that bad and it was so much fun. Next year we'll go 2 days instead of 1.

It sounds like you pretty much got everything in and then some! Thanks for letting me know how the crowds were.... I think we may try to head over there our first day. It might be a fun experience! :)

I am going to try to "hide" that SWW is happening during our visit. DH and DD are huge SW fans and I want to try to suprise them when we go. I don't really care to do any of the special events, but it would be fun to see the parade and to see everyone dressed up.

When do SWW typically happen? We are looking at the last week in June.

We have gone to SWW the past 4 years. We are HUGE fans and love it!!

But here's the thing about the parade.... its a VERY short route, and 90% of the folks there want to see it. That means camping out 60-90 minutes before it starts just to get a spot. And more than half the spots are in the blazing sun.

I just want you to be prepared that waiting for the SWW parade is NOTHING like waiting for the 3pm parade at MK, and even more competitive than getting spots for MSEP. And, to put this as delicately as possible, you won't see a lot of hospitality for anyone who walks up late and tries to put their little ones to the front so they can see. People are VERY protective of their hard earned, front row spots. (Not that I am saying you would do this.) Same goes for the Hyperspace Hoopla at the end of the night. Except folks start to get there about 2 hours in advance to be in the front.

Irin997- Historically SWW are the last 2 weekends in May and the 1st 2 weekends in June. The last day for 2013 should be June 9. We won't know for sure until early 2013.

Sydney's Mom- SWW are packed :crowded: And not just the SW events, but the whole park. Most of the SW lines are out in the heat, so its a lot of waiting in long, hot lines. All the rides get crowded because people need to get out of the heat for a bit and into the A/C. The area near Star Tours is the most congested because of the insanely long lines for Star Tours, the Chewbacca meet n greet by the speeder bike, plus the extra people who are there for Jedi Training Academy (which runs more shows and double the number of participants during SWW). And, of course, tons of people going to Tatooine Traders, not necessarily realizing the "big" merchandise area is actually in a tent behind RnRC.

As I said, we are huge fans and go each year. I am not saying this to persuade anyone not to go!! But I just want everyone to be prepared for what a madhouse it is. If your schedule allows 2 days for DHS, then by all means, please come check it out! But don't be discouraged by the long lines for everything (this means restaurants too!). You will get much more done during the week then during SWW. But if you do come, the best times are early in the AM, since the park usually opens 30 minutes before published times, and 4pm and later.

HTH! :goodvibes

Wow, thanks so much for the info! Glad to know we won't be there during SWW. Our DD11 likes SW but our nephew who is almost 7 would love it.

When we were there in June it was the last weekend of SWW and we arrived on June 2. Started mid-May I think.......It was a Saturday when we were there and it was pretty crowded. I thought my kids would enjoy the Star Wars aspect a lot more but they didn't seem to care. Oh well......oddly, they LOVED the Great Movie Ride (the one with the gangster).....we did that about 6 times in a row! We finally did TSM and they loved it too.

Hoping for a free dining code!!!!!!!!!!!

I appreciate the heads up. Might have to rethink my plan. You would think that if is was so popular they could lengthen the route a tiny bit! Guess I shall buy those hats with the umbrellas on top for our long wait! :joker:

to only one SWW and that was several years ago so this may not still be true.

There was an area at that time marked as the Imperial location. I took our son over there later in the day. That was the best part of the park for me.

There were characters coming out to sign autographs and have pictures taken, but there were also random characters that just walked around. I just stayed there an hour watching the different characters. I can't remember them all but tthere were Tuskan Raiders, sand people and Gamorrean guards.

That still happens, usually in the afternoons. They roam near the Backlot Tour area.

Tikkipoo- the parade route used to go all the way to the Jedi Training stage, which made seeing the parade MUCH easier. But 2 years ago, they invested in a huge stage in front of "the Hat" which is where the parade ends, and the characters/celebs all gather at the end for a great photo opp. However, it shortened the route by almost half, which makes getting a spot to see REALLY tough. We don't even attempt to see the parade anymore.

One great thing, however, was the decision to move the Hyperspace Hoopla from the Jedi Training stage to the new Hat stage. There simply wasn't enough room for everyone to crowd into the small Jedi area. Also, they broadcast the Hoopla on the AI screen for those of us who want to sit and watch it, rather than deal with standing, kids on shoulders etc.

Like I said, it is a lot of fun, but it certainly isn't for everyone. The best is seeing the people who came to the park, oblivious to the fact that is scheduled for that day, and can't believe the crowds... We try to spread it out over 2-3 days, plus an extra AM during the week for non SWW things.

Now, to bring it back to "code" discussion ;) here's hoping for a great rate (that includes POFQ or at least POR) as we are doing a 2 week stay this time!!

We are scheduled for our very first trip to Disney. We have four kids ages 13, 11, 7 and 5 and we aren't telling them till we get there or are on our way probably! I am SO excited I can hardly stand it!

This trip is taking every dime we have so I am praying for a discount of any kind during the time we are going (I will even add a day on for a discount) or a pin but I am not expecting either. Anyone with advice for a first timer would be great!

Kristy:cheer2:
