June 2007 Rate/Code Watch

We booked 6/30 - 7/7 through AAA and we are not members of AAA - was told they act as a travel agent on the packages and membership is not required

You don't need to be a member for AAA to book vacations for you. But if you are getting a AAA discount, then you DO need to be a member. If you are asked for your AAA card upon checkin, and don't have one, you will be charged rack rate for the room.

This is my first post on this thread but I've been monitoring for several days. I just wanted to mention that my TA said that the chances of a discount for us in June is kinda slim as bookings are up this year and there were none offered last year. Pretty much a bumber for me.:sad2: But, I'm gonna keep my eyes and ears open for a discount. We decided to stay off property this time since it's a spur-of-the-moment trip for my DD's birthday (something I would NEVER EVER consider otherwise) but I would gladly change my mind if I could stay onsite with a discount. I purchased an AP last year and have planned 4 trips during this year. I've already taken 2 of them (Nov/Dec '06 and Feb '07). The next 2 are in June and October. Not once was I able to get a room-only discount with the AP.:furious: It's still early yet for October so I'm still hoping. Good luck to everyone on securing those discounts in June!

I know people are being told that they didn't offer discounts last summer but that's not true. Although they did come out very late and availability was limited. I know we got the YC with an AP discount last summer with the other options being BC, BWI, SSR and OKW. Still hoping they'll do that again.

I keep checking my dates June 28-July 12 and all deluxes show availability except CR and all mods except CSR.

I joined AAA just to get the room discount! We were able to get CR - Tower MK view for July 13-16 and BW - std view July 16-20 at AAA rates. There were SLIM pickings at CR - at first there was only rooms in the wing, which I didn't want, but as I was talking to the CM she refreshed her screen and up popped my three nights... MAGIC!!

We are also able to book all our ADR's for exactly the days and times we wanted - CG on my bday during Wishes and Le Cellier for our 1 year wedding anniversary - we literally got the last available ressie there for the day!

I am still hoping for some fantastic code like the ones at the Epcot resorts last summer, but if nothing comes out, I am happy with what we booked!

For anyone who is not an AAA member, I totally recommend joining for the savings. Even taking into account the joining fee and 1 year dues, we still saved almost $400!

There are way toooo many acronyms being used in the thread? Is there a sticky thread that has a list of what they all mean? AP, YC, BWI, SSR, OKW :confused3

Looking at Mousesavers AP rates 6/20-8/05/2006 were released 6/8/2006 for limited DVC and Deluxe resorts.

Jennylane, DH & I will also be at the CR in a MK view room from the 13th-16th. I agree that it's slim pickings with AAA for early July. I feel lucky to have gotten anything at the CR. We' were also lucky enough to get all of our ADR's. We're eating at Cali Grill on the 14th.

Happy Anniversary :)

AP = annual passholder, YC = Yacht Club, BWI = BoardWalk Inn, SSR = Saratoga Springs Resort, OKW = Old Key West. :thumbsup2

When my husband comes up in conversation, I've referred to him aloud as DH:rotfl:

You have to keep in mind that at least part of the reason for the delay/lack of discounts last summer was due to the switch from HAVING to book AP discounts on-line to being able to book on-line or over the phone. There was a gap in discounts before this during the fall previous to this when the initial switch was made to on-line booking. Honestly, I'm not understanding why there is no promotion going for this summer.

We will be at BWV on july 15th -21st . No AAA available. I looked on AAA and do not see a 2 bdr for BWV. I am wondering if they offer AAA discount for the 2 bdr at BWV. Anyone ever got it.

I'm beginning to wonder if we should cancel our reservations for 6/29 to 7/9. We've got the Polynesian booked with MYW, park hoppers, water parks and more w/basic dining plan for myself, a disabled dad, traveling with three daughters, 10/15 and 18, and a 11 month old grandson. The price, $7200 for the Disney portion of the trip. With neck and back injuries, there's no way I'll be able to do the rides, and doing the parks with a baby will be difficult in itself. So, it's not worth the high cost, especially if Disney won't throw us some kind of a bone. I'd need the option of the monorail close by at the resort for ease of getting around, the Contemporary price isn't much better and our travel dates are somewhat limited to these dates. Thinking of spending my money elsewhere. I'm disappointed in Disney, I know I'm not the only traveler out there after spending well over fourty grand over the past years there. So, unless Disney offers us something, anything, seven grand will go a long way in the islands or even Europe. We'll see.

I can understand the disappointment especially when there are deals that come out other times of the year. If you haven't booked airfare yet you could save alot by moving up you vacation a week so you will be in value season. Also consider dropping the PH & WP. That will save about $100 per person.

For that amount of money you might want to see what the Disney Cruise is offering. When I ask my kids if they want to go to Disney World or the Disney Cruise they pick the Disney Cruise. It is so relaxing and might be easier for you.

The deadline for the April-May AP rates ends this Sunday. Maybe something will come out after that.
