June 2007 Rate/Code Watch

I just told the kids we HAVE to stay at OKW because I just bought an OKW pin on Ebay.

:rotfl:

That's okay...my DD just said to me, "Since it doesn't appear as though we are getting a discount, maybe you could sell your Plane Crazy pin on Ebay so we can stay at the Poly!" :scared1:
(decision is made...Plane Crazy pin just got put in the safe)

I told her that I am still holding out hope for June and July discounts as the public code ends tonight.

I'm still thinking that something will be released this coming week as there continues to be availability in almost every category at every resort.

Well, back to getting some chores done around the house while we wait!

I can understand the disappointment especially when there are deals that come out other times of the year. If you haven't booked airfare yet you could save alot by moving up you vacation a week so you will be in value season. Also consider dropping the PH & WP. That will save about $100 per person.

I appreciate your feedback. Heres why I'm disappointed, and please keep in mind that I understand some events are just acts of nature or the way the cards fall that affect our trip and no one can help that, but, our travel dates are limited though. My gift to my three children for Christmas was a WDW trip for doing great in school and my oldest graduating high school. My sister works for a Florida travel agent, she priced out our Disney vacation and told me there were no special offers or discount codes, but she would NOT charge us their commission, which would save us $671.00, that was great, she booked it with a deposit. In January '07, I booked RT seats on JetBlue from SWF to MCO, we even got the new extended leg room bulk head seats on their A320. I then booked Disney hoping for a rate (hoping, not counting on, my hopes were high though). A few days after booking and paying, I found out a Space Shuttle launch was scheduled on 6/28, exactly for the time we were to arrive and also found out JetBlue would now have a hub out of Westchester, NY, much closer to our home, thus saving on limo transportation. Not wanting to miss the Shuttle launch for the world, JetBlue's price to change flights two days earlier was a steal at only $58.00 total, nonrefundable/nontransferable. We then rescheduled Disney two days later, booked a rental car from Alamo, got a great price on that after haggling a bit and booked the Holiday Inn at Kennedy Space Center for the launch, everything was looking great. In March, STS117 was hit by by large hail, damaging the fuel tank. STS117 was rescheduled for this April and STS118 kept its June 28 launch date. Also in March, it was discovered that I have three broken pedicle screws in my cervical spine from a previous neck fusion, the second time this happened, requiring surgery again. Then my sister said I'll have to pay the commission and work it out later (yeahhh right!). Then, STS117 is now scheduled no sooner than June 8th, and STS118 moved to August. I guess I'm just disappointed in the whole thing and not at Disney, but, such is life. I can't tell my kids we can't go, we had a Disney trip scheduled last year that never panned out because of physical limitations and repeated settlement delay issues over my spine injuries. I'm at a loss, I don't know what to do, all I know is that timing and cost's just don't seem to be in our favor, and we can't control the weather either. The kids don't want a cruise, they want WDW. All I can say is get EVERYTHING in writing, even with family.

Wow what a year..hang in there. There must be some way to make this better.

:surfweb: (sometime this week, I hope)

:laundy: (may as well keep on doing chores...I think I may have the cleanest house in PA right now)

Group hug for KSoda :grouphug:

Here's my little story. My DH and I originally booked thru Disney and were going to pay rack rates for All star sports package. Then we checked out discounts thru AAA. For about $150 more, we were able to get Port Orleans Riverside. I know its not a discount but I thought it was pretty cool! :thumbsup2

But it IS a discount if you considered what the rack rate would be at POR without your AAA discount. I feel better knowing that I at least saved $236 using AAA.
