Hi, Jill...

...Amy and her gang get there around the same time as well, I believe. We'll all have to keep an eye out for each other as we're in line for the DCL busses...? :woohoo:

--Drew

Just a thought, but we could go to Home Depot and get the Mickey Mouse paint chips, laminate them, and hang them on our pack bags so we could recognize each other. I know another group of cruisers did this.:thumbsup2

Welcome to the cruise Kristin and Royal vizier and group. Happy to have you with us. I know that you will have a great time.

Kristin let me add my thanks to you for your service to our country. I know that it must have been difficult for you to leave your family. I think that this trip will be a time for you to get back to being a family. If it were me I would not make very many plans (except for Polo and maybe a couples spa treatment) and just plan on spending relaxing time together.

I don't have any small children so I am no help in that area. As for packing the best advice I can give is to go to the FAQ section I think that they have a packing list. Pack lots of sun screen and bathing suites. Don't get overly worked up about it. Bring summer cloths and maybe a slightly dressier outfit for the formal night. The best advice I have seen is to pack and then take out 50% of what you packed. The ship does have laundry rooms. I know that babies often require several changes or cloths a day. So you could plan on doing a load of cloths about half way through the cruise, so you don't have to bring so much for her.

Don't worry about the way everyone obsesses about the packing and getting ready we are a bunch of obsessice compulsive people when it comes to Disney, you don't realy have to be like us to have a great time.

About your Fish Ex question. I usually give one or two small family gifts and a bunch of little things for the kids. I put my Dis name on some. There a couple of threads on stuff you can get. Candy, little games, eye patch, stickers and anything disney. Dollar store, Target dollar spot, oriental trading. Silly little things seem to go over just as good as the bigger things so don't stress on it having it cost a lot. And as far as the Fish Extender I don't sew so mine is hot glued. (Don't you laugh when you see it)

Lynn

Thanks so much! I will get shopping. I am going to have Rachel (13) help with this project. She will have a blast.

Is it still raining in your neck of the woods?

You know that sounds like a good idea, they are free and easy to get. I was going to get some for the cabbin door anyway, oops I already have them from our last cruise.

By the way Kristin we are going down eairly and will be staying at the Raddison in Port Canaviral. We stayed here last September and were happy with it. They have shuttle service to the port on Saturday morning. I think the rates are reasonable.

See you all in just 25 days Magie

I always hang paint chips on my camera bag.

Yes it has stopped raining. I feel so sorry for all the people that got flooded out. What a mess. Most streets are now open.

Anybody come up will a logo for our cruise. Some of the ones I have seen are so good.

Good Morning Everyone,

I'm new to this great message board as of today! I will be cruising with you all on June 20th!

Currently, I am in Kyrgyzstan, which is northeast of Afghanistan (where I originally was). My husband is back home in the states with my 20 month old daughter. He surprised me with this trip and I am definitely excited! I have a few questions though and I am hoping the veterans here can help to answer them.

Since my daughter is 20 months old, are there any special requests I should make (i.e. high chairs, etc) prior to the cruise; or, are those items readily available? Any special considerations your guys can think of that would help me stay ahead of the game? I have reserved some nursery time for her so that my husband and I can enjoy a nice dinner, but evenso, I'm worried I'm missing something.

Are there any special items I should bring with me? I have read through some of these posts and so many people seems rushed to get "everything" ready. Seeing as how I'm currently on the the other side of the world, I'm worried that I, too, will be rushed. So, any suggestions as far as a packing list would be most appreciated.

Any other considerations I should make? Any pre-boarding hotel recommendations? Any suggestions to make the process easier? I'm sorry I don't have many specific questions, but I'm just not sure what to ask as I've never cruised before!

Last thing - anyone else have a 20 month old cruising? Anyone else done it before? I'm curious to hear your experiences.

Thanks so much! I can't wait, everyone!

Kristin

WELCOME!!! First off, have a safe trip home! Thank you for serving our country!! What a great way to celebrate being back with your family!

As far as packing goes, with the baby I am sure things can't be missed. I would just make a list of the essentials for the baby. Do a load of laundry midweek on the ship. Bring a small bottle of dishwashing detergent so you can wash her sippy cups in the sink. We did that when our youngest was still drinking from sippy cups and we bought those with us to the dinners and had the waiter/waitresses put her drinks in them.

As for as packing for you, I found I lived in my swimsuits during the day. I just packed a few shorts and tank tops to wear over my suits. For dinners in the evening I packed one formal or nice dress and I would wear that to Palo dinner outing too. One sun dress to wear and wear that to Palo brunch if you go. A pair of capri's, a couple of skorts and shirts that can intermix with the capris or skorts. I am doing the same this time too. It does cut down on packing. My problem is bringing my workout clothes. I could skip it, but I know I will feel guilty if I don't work out. Yuck! I will probably do a load of laundry mid week just so I dont'have to pack as much.

We didn't get out documents yet either, but I am not worried, yet, LOL!

We are staying at Saratoga Springs Resort on the 16th till the 20th. We are taking the happy limo service and will probably get there by 11. I can't beleive the time is almost here. We will be there at 3 for the meet and greet. I need to start learning everyones names, I am bad about that.

Yup! We arrive on Southwest at 11:20. We'll grab luggage and hit the DCL busses. If you see a group of 10 (6 adults and 4 kids -- with one adult in a wheelchair), that's us!

It's getting close now.

question about the radisson at port canavaral.....how strict is the shuttle to the port in regards to how many people are in your room? do they give you a ticket or anything.....or do you just show a room key & get on, etc...? i'm wondering because i would like to book a standard room, but it won't let me for 5. it is literally 1/2 the price if i put in 4 cuz it gives me the standard room. we're arriving later, so we literally just need to crash. thx! :)

Everyone,

Thanks again for the very warm welcome and comments. I really appreciate how thoughtful and helpful you all are. What a fabulous time we all will have!

I have to tell you, it is 2:42am here and I am ALL OVER this message board. I can barely contain my excitement. I'm compiling all the advice and writing it down! I will leave this country in a few days and head back to the United States by month's end. I can't wait to see my husband and daughter after such a long time and we are going to have tons of fun shopping for this cruise. Okay, I will have tons of fun shopping, not so much on my husband's part. I simply can't wait to get home and start the countdown!

What fun awaits us all!

By the way, any runners on here that would be up for 3-4 miles in the mornings and one long run during the week?

Kristin

Hey Folks,

As far as a packing list, I was referred to the below listed link:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=935094&highlight=packing+list&page=4

My problem is that when I click the file, it forwards my browser to someone's web page. That webpage is being blocked on my work computer. Is it possible that someone can extract/download the list and PM it to me?

Thanks so much!

Kristin

Kristin,

I'm not 100% certain, but I do have a packing list pulled from the threads, and I think it's it. I'll send it on to you in the next few moments.

Thanks!

docs came today, actually got the first dinner seating......this will be a 1st for us, might be able to walk off some of the food before hitting the hay

midship port side deck 7.....forget what exact room #...can't get here soon enough

Received our cruise documents today. Now just have to get Catlin's pasport from her father and we will have everything we need to start packing.

I am planning on doing laundry aat least once on this 11 day trip so I bought the new purex detergent, fabric softner, antistatic sheets to take with us. The only problem I have with them is that they come in a pack of 24 and I just dont't plan on doing that much laundry.I guess I will save them for our cruise next September (west bound transatlantic).

Our vacation starts in just 20 days. See everyone soon. Magie

My dh is a runner like you...but me I can do 2 miles and that's it for me. Just enough to eat dessert at night. Welcome aboard......

LOL. I hear you! That's the only reason I run, too. I think of my food in miles: a 240 calorie dessert is 2 miles! I look at a piece of cake (or whatever) and ask myself if it's worth an entire 2 miles of effort, lol. I usually run about 5 miles a day, so one can do the math! I love to eat - LOL!
And, on the cruise from what I've read so far, I'll be doing MANY loops on their 1/3 mile track!

Take care,
Kristin

I'm a dedicated runner, but I tend to never make it to exercise on the cruise. So much going on. I work full time, so I really value the time spent with my kids. I hate to leave them for even an hour to work out. We'll see if I can manage it this year.

Any of you going to try to do the 5k on Castaway Cay?
