June 20, 2009 Magic

Everything I've read to this point indicates that Pirate Night will likely be Tuesday or Wednesday night, but more probably Tuesday night (which would be after leaving Tortola, I think).

Ooh, I hope it's not after Tortola, for his sake. The next day is St. John, and that's where he's planning on scuba diving, which would mean no rum on pirate's night for him, again! Guess that means I'll have to drink his share as well as mine!!!

I found this explanation on a separate thread, when asking if the 7-day Eastern w/St. Croix had a different pirate night:

"It should be no different than the regular 7-day Eastern (St. Maarten version), as the distance between ports is almost identical. They can only do Pirate night on the night between the two Eastern ports as it is the only time they can slow the ship down enough to launch the fireworks."

Eastern:
• Saturday - Embarkation, Rotational Dining, Welcome Aboard Variety Show
• Sunday - At Sea, Rotational Dining, Formal Night, Captain's Cocktail Party, The Golden Mickeys
• Monday - At Sea, Rotational Dining, Twice Charmed
• Tuesday - St. Maarten (or alternative Eastern port in 2009), Pirate Night Menu, No Show (Movie in Walt Disney Theater), Pirate Night Deck Party
• Wednesday - St. Thomas, Master Chefs Menu, Variety Show
• Thursday - At Sea, Captain's Gala Menu, Semi-Formal Night, Lobster in all restaurants, Disney Dreams
• Friday - Castaway Cay, 'Til We Meet Again Menu, Farewell Variety Show

142 days to go! :cool1:

I think all of that is correct, except I believe the Golden Mickey night is the Golden Mickey menu and the Master Chef menu is now the third rotational dining night instead. I could def. be wrong, but that is what I have found when researching the current Eastern Cruises.

Thanks Smileneyes for that list! I mentioned to DH this morning on our way to work that I was asking the good folks here on our cruise meet thread if they knew when Pirate night was. He said if it is after Tortola he'll just have to dive in Tortola, and not in St. John. And here I thought it meant more rum for me, darn!!!!:)

Looks like we may be cancelling :(
DH's company has been talking layoffs. It just would not be responsible to cruise right now.

I am so sorry . . . I wish you the best of luck with the job situation. Sometimes you have to do what is right for your family, even if it isn't hte fun decision.

I am sure the date you finally get to go will be perfect . . .

Well all looks like we are bailing also. The military discount was awesome for this cruise.. but the military discount for doing WDW just tops it.. SO as much as I dont want to miss out on a cruise... its better both $$$ wise and time wise to do 10days at the World then 7days at sea.!

Wishing you all a great fantabulous cruise!

Hi again!

I'm not sure about the fish extenders. We're trying to watch our expenses as much as possible. I'll think about it.

Ages of our family:

Mary Me Scott DH
Liam 12
Patrick turns 9 on the cruise!

Has anyone decided on excursions yet?

Got you added, Mary. And, on the FE, it really doesn't have to be expensive. On my last cruise, some people made crafty things for their gifts -- cards, small frames, magnets. Really, the excitement is about being a sneaky fish fairy -- not about the cost.

Still, no need to decide now. We can always add you later if you want.

As for excursions, I think we are going to take my mom on a handicapped accessible tour at one stop. Otherwise, we haven't decided anything yet. It's not long until reservations can be booked. Wow. Time flies.

We rebooked on-board so long ago, I can't even remember when. We've been postponing and postponing for one reason or another (the last being DH being laid off a year ago).

We were about to postpone again due to older 2 DS' summer camp, but with oldest turning 17, we're running out of options time-wise. We convinced the boys to forego camp this year (they're going to Philmont in August, so all is not lost) and do this cruise instead.

We are 5: me, DH, DS#1 (17 just before cruise), DS#2 (15) and DS#3 (10). This will be our 9th DCL cruise (I think), 8th for boys (we did one on our own following Disneyana years ago).

DH is sending us to WDW for a week before boarding, and we'll head to Vero for a couple days afterwards. I haven't had a vacation in nearly 2 years. I think DH is feeling guilty!

Looking forward to some quality Disney time!!

Lynnette, Greg, Dan(16) and Lauren(12) from Iowa

Lauren is looking for another girl her age to correspond with before the cruise and also hang out with when we get there. She is outgoing and loves to keep active on the ship (in other words - run around a lot!) E-mail me at lharter@mchsi.com if you have a daughter her age that would like to become e-mail pals.

You have a Liam and a Patrick. We have a Liam Patrick (he's 10).

We've looked at excursions, but haven't decided on any. We tend to like to do active excursions and many times book stuff on our own to save money. It started out that we did it so our then under-10 year old could do some of the fun stuff (the 10 year old limit is a Disney one), but we quickly realized the mark-up Disney made on each excursion and decided to keep it (or give it to them in one of their stores!).

We bought one way tickets to Florida today on Southwest for $89. I guess if they don't come down on the return flight we have to stay there all summer??

Seems like our cruise is getting less populated, but the price still seems to be the most expensive one all summer:worship: . If we didn't have so many people involved in this trip we would switch to another date. I looked and 2 weeks later it is almost 2000 less than this one...WOW.

We're almost there now.........

My DD12, Lizzie, is excited to hear that she will have company - it think we now have a total of three DD12?? Unfortunately, she's not much of an emailer but definitely loves to hang out with buddies she meets on the ship. It seems we rarely see her once we get on board!

I think one of the best benefits of this meets board is for the kids. My daughter met a friend on the board for her last cruise, and it was, by far, her favorite Disney cruise ever. She's already started e-mailing lharter's daughter. Leia has gotten so much more excited about the cruise already. That's really important to us, because this vacation centers around my mom who is a severely disabled stroke patient. It's an extra benefit if the kids have fun.

Missy, do you want to tell me who you have on the cruise (first names and ages of kids) to add to the roster list?
