June 18, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

Myself, Bonnie,(38), DH, Benny, (42), DD, Sarah, (12), DD, Ashley, (9).
Gty room @ this time.

Jet lag. I am just hoping the excitement will help with that. We will have to figure out a way to meet in the terminal. We get to Atlanta at about 1 or 2 pm. When do you guys get there?

or no room. I thought if I did a private tour it would be cheaper with a van and we could go to the places we wanted to go. I think a van for 4 is 300 euro and the van which holds 8 is only 340. Let me know if you are interested

Can you give me more info on the private tour. What port were you planning on having a private tour?

We arrive around 3:30 PM, so plenty of time to get some food and meet up with you at the gate. We'll have to come up with something to identify each other, maybe the kids could make a sign that has a DCL logo on it. What ages are your kids?

Bonnie

Anyone know if there's a logo for the Med cruise and how to get ahold of it?

Also, lexlaw 69 and/or Makaylee - since you've taken this cruise before - do you know if there's a UPS kiosk at debarkation in Barcelona? I'd like to rid ourselves of excess junk (lovely souvenirs) before staying an extra week in Italy. I did a search online and didn't find anything about a UPS or Fed Ex near the port. Thanks!

Me and my parents are both on this cruise and we are still both GTY :sad1: I just want to know now!!

I've been reading some of the other threads with people going on May cruises and still not having rooms when their documents and bag tags show up. I'm really hoping to not have that happen to us.

From looking at the private tours you can tell them what you want to see and they either do half day or full day tours. I would like to do the private tours in Naples-I want to see island of capri, pompeii and the countryside amafii.
For Rome we wanted to see colliseum, vatican city, trevi fountain ,sistene chapel. My impression is you pay for the driver all day and purchase your tickets to see the what sights you want to see and it is usually less with a van. Did you get any excursions you wanted for the trip?

It should be intersesting. I guess we could wear the green mickey paint chip samples we are going to use to meet up for the FE to identify ourselves or maybe it won't be that hard. I am sure I will be wearing a Disney shirt on.

Sorry for taking so long to respond to the FE questions - life got in the way! Our details are: Rach, Cam, DD (10) & DS (5), cabin #6116. We had 48 cabins in our last FE exchange - so I'm happy to work with the whole group of 17 if that's the decision.

As to the jetlag question - coming from Australia, every flight we do is LONG...so my tip would be to get into the new time zone immediately. We have a nap when we arrive, but no more than 2 hours & the alarm is set - we then force ourselves to get out & about, and then go to bed in the early evening. It takes a few days though - on the 1st night of our cruise last Jun we were at a table with another Aussie family, and our servers said it was the first time they had seen ALL the kids at the table fall asleep during dinner, & at the early seating too! Guess jetlag still beat us!

Added your info too Thanks :thumbsup2
If the number of staterooms stay as it is I'm quite happy to go with the whole group too

Only another 2 weeks to sign up

I personally can afford to get nicer gifts if the groups are smaller. Just my two cents

Following up on the Day at the Farm excursion with DCL to get more information. The representative I spoke to didn't have any more information than is available on the website. It took her quite a while to "get" what I was talking about. After explaining that if the times in the description remain the same, three hours at a farm, plus driving time, plus lunch, it does not leave much (if any) time to "relax" by the pool. I explained that the relaxing pool time was very important to me, and I wanted to know how long we would be there.

She agreed that the times listed would have to change given the new docking schedule, and promised to contact MS for me and have them get back to me with the new schedule. Three days later, I'm still waiting for more information. I also asked if the price would be reduced to reflect the shorter day. To her credit she didn't laugh (IOW a big "no").

I'm pretty sure I'm going to drop this excursion. The new times are listed as 8:45 to 3:30, the original was 9:15 to 4:30, making the excursion 1.5 hours shorter. I'm pretty convinced that lost time is going to come at the expense of the pool, which is the part I was most looking forward to. Maybe I'll hear differently from MS, but I'm not holding my breath. Very disappointed!
