June 18, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

Okay.... so where did you get the info? :confused3:confused3

I was on hold today with DCL for 18 minutes today only to be told that they don't have anything yet.... BUT they would have something before we cruise :rotfl: oh seriously, that's a great idea.

I'd love to have a description of the Day on the Farm and Palermo for Kids.

I am a TA and was booking shore excursions for a guest who is in a suite and the options for Palermo were listed and let me book them. I have asked DCL many times why they aren't listed under port adventures but area available to book when the booking window opens, they didn't have an answer.

A day on the Farm
*Relax during an approximate 90 minute, air conditioned motor coach ride to Villa Dafne Farm. Make your way through the green countryside of Sicily, with its picturesque orange trees and Indian figs, at the edge of the Madonie mountains.
*Enjoy an approximate 3 hour guided stroll through the grounds where you’ll see sheep, pigs and take in cow mikling demonstration.
*Savor the flavors of authentic Italian cooking during an interactive demonstration of how Italian bread is made. Children can partake in the demonstration too and prepare, bake and eat the bread they made.
*Discover the process of making cheese from a local cheese maker. The sit down to enjoy a traditional Sicilian lunch
*After lunch, enjoy free time, where you’re invited to wander the scenic farmland or go for a refreshing dip in the pool
*After your visit of the farm enjoy a panoramic drive through Palermo return to the pier

Refreshments are available to purchase
Not recommended for guest with mobility issues

Well it's down to 105 days!!:woohoo:

I was wondering if you gold cc members could throw us silvers a bone and let us know how hard or easy it was to get your ressies today. Were there still a lot of openings ( I'm mainly interested in Palo brunch and dinner) or were you already limited from the platinum and concierge?
Thanks!

We can book tonight at 12:01am and will let you know. I am trying for Palo dinner. Hopefully it won't be too bad in getting it. Looking at room availability there is still plenty left on this cruise. Only the suites and category 4 rooms are sold out so far

Palermo for Kids

Journey in an air conditioned motor coach along the picturesque Via Liberta and take in such renowned sites as the 19th century Teatro Politeama and Teatro Massimo theaters. Travel along the exclusive Via Ruggero Settimo, brimming with elegant Italian boutiques and evel in the Baroque architecture as you make your way to the heart of the “Four Corners” intersection. Pass the Piazza Marina, a spectacular town square amidst scenic gardens and marvel at the architectural diversity of the world renowned Cathedral.

After your approximate 45 minute city tour visit the 17th century Palazzo Asmundo, an aristocratic home that retains much of the charm of its heyday. Note: Guests will need to climb approximately 80 steps inside the Palazzo Asmundo.

Wander the home and marvel at the 18th century frescos, the 16th century furniture, the furniture, the French and Napoleonic china, and the myriad of embroideries, vases and antiques that surround you at every turn. Children will be delighted to meet a ceramist and follow instructions to paint clay and create their own souvenirs. Afterward there’s even more fun in store for your children as they proceed to the Little Theater of the “Pupi’s Opera” to watch the fun filled story of Roland and Angelika unfold during an authentic marionette show. A Sicilian tradition dating back to the Middle Ages.

After the 30 minutes show is over, embark on the final leg of your motor coach tour, which includes a drive past the marvelous 9th century Palazza dei Normanni building, at one time the center of cultural life in Palermo.
Finally round out your adventure with an ice cream stop for both children and adults before making your way back to the ship.

Wheelchairs and scooters cannot be acommodated on this excursion

I would really appreciate this! I can't wait till our next sailing, finally gold! My whole family would greatly appreciate me not having to drag them to the port at 9:30 am, because if i can't get brunch and dinner online, this is what happens!:lmao:

It is Eastern Standard Time when it opens
You CANNOT be logged into your account before midnight or it doesn't recognize the date change. You shouldn't log in before 12:01am Eastern Standard time

Tea is the hardest to get because there is only one or two seatings
Brunch isn't much easier
Remember that these two options are only avaialble on sea days and it limits how many reservations are available. Dinner is available every night and gives you a better chance to reserve a spot

Hello to Everyone! So happy to have found this message board...figuring out all abbreviation (DH, DS,..) and reading the postings. Have done a couple of other DCL cruises before and loved our experiences with Disney. Just booked our first Mediterranean cruise a week ago and looking forward to JUNE 18. Still have to book flights to Barcelona, hotel in Barcelona, excursions...OVERWHELMING. Learning so much from this thread...Travelling with me are my husband and two kids (DS- 15 and another DS- 13). By the way, we're from Raleigh, NC. SOO excited...

Welcome, Annie! We're flying out of Atlanta. Guessing you'll go that way eventually, too. We have a DS age 15 as well. Glad they'll be quite a few teenagers!

We're booked at CASP 74, but we're just coming in the Friday night before the cruise. We're planning on spending a few nights in London before we go to Barcelona.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Julie

Hi goofydadeo! Small world indeed. Oldest DS is a freshman at Leesville HS and 8th grader DS is at TFS. We're relatively new to Raleigh. Been in Raleigh for over 2 years, before that we lived in Erie, PA. We loved Erie but we REALLY LOVE Raleigh. Weather is PHENOMENAL.... . Should have booked our airline tix as soon as we booked our cruise, but I said to my DH that prices will eventually go down(this was just before the Libya situation)...I was wrong. We'll give it another week and see...then we'll just have to bite the bullet. Did you have to book 2 rooms for a party of 4 at the Hilton? We're planning on some sight seeing in Barcelona before the cruise. Looking forward to meeting everyone!!!

Thanks Julie! We'll look into CASP 74. We're planning on coming in on the 15th to see more of Barcelona. Looking forward to meeting you, too!!!

Annie

I'm interested in sharing a Mercedes limo/mini-van while in Rome on the 6/18 Disney cruise. I'm told these get to see many more sites and will also help getting to smaller places buses can't reach.

We are a family of 4, a boy 11 and girl 13 along with my wife and I. We're from the Philadelphia area and comitted Disney Cruisers

Please PM if interested. The mini-vans hold up to 8 people. It would probably cost $800 total US.

Hi klynch! Just joined the disboard today. Booked our cruise over a week ago and hoping to book the rest (flights to and fromBCN, hotel at BCN, excursions...)within the next week or so. Are you still looking for another family of four? It will be my DH, DS (15), DS (13) and I. We'll be originating our trip from Raleigh,NC. Let me know if your Rome excursion is still open. Thanks!

Annie

PS Couldn't PM you because I have less than 10 postings.
