June 18, 2011 - 11 Night Mediterranean Sailing from Barcelona

I found a book series called "Find Out About...." they have Spain, Italy, France and Great Britian ( so the title is "Find Out About Italy" ). It has words, phrases, life in the country, history and culture. I'm trying to introduce these countries ahead of time so that DD gets a little education with all of the fun! (but don't tell her that) You might want to check them out. I found them on Amazon.com.

Mary Pope Osborne (author of Jack and Annie series) has a good book called "Pompeii" which my DD5 enjoys. Thanks for the tip on the other books.

Just booked this cruise. It will be me, DH, DD16 and DS14
:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Looking forward to it.

What is everyone planning for excursions? On your own, private guides or with DCL?

We have a snow day today in Ohio :thumbsup2 so I have time to plan and dream about this trip. I can't believe it's almost here!
I have been reading trip reports and planning for a looooong time. If only the air transportation would fall into place.
With the price of air being about $250 more per person than I thought, we will definitely do most ports on our own. Plus... I am all about the adventure.
Hopefully, my DS16 is up for it!
Can't wait.

Check the airfare through DCL, ours came to a lower price than what I was finding on my own

Update on Casp74 transportation. It looks like we had two families cancel that were going to be staying at our hotel, so we're down to 15 people. I emailed the hotel to see if there is a smaller vehicle to take us to port. Unfortunately, our only option is the bus (again, it holds 50 people). The hotel is suggesting we get taxis, which are only 25-30 Euro to the port. Unless anyone else joins between now and then, that's probably the best thing to do. Let me know what you guys (gals) think.

Thanks.

Not sure where you are looking for transfers. haven't read this whole thread. Have you tried doing a google search on airport transfers in Barcelona? You may find some different options

Thanks! Looks like we have a lot of fun reading to do in the next 108 days.

I'm interested in sharing a Mercedes limo/mini-van while in Rome on the 6/18 Disney cruise. I'm told these get to see many more sites and will also help getting to smaller places buses can't reach.

We are a family of 4, a boy 11 and girl 13 along with my wife and I. We're from the Philadelphia area and comitted Disney Cruisers

Please PM if interested. The mini-vans hold up to 8 people. It would probably cost $800 total US.

Thanks for the welcome. I think we are going to pass on the FE option this time around. we are trying to only bring carry ons instead of large bags this time around. We will see if that really happens but we are trying to limit what we pack. We did do the FE on the Panama Canal cruise in 2008 and it was fun, you will all enjoy it

Klynch - I'll check with RIL and see if they can accomodate the extra person in the minivan since we have 4 kids.

Thanks but there are 4 of us, two adults, boy 11 and girl 13. RIL looks like one of the better tour companies.

just turn up

have we decided yet were we are meeting :confused3

I believe we decided to meet in the Promenade Lounge (right outside Parrot Cay) at 3:30 before the Safety Drill. goofydadeo had a great idea about getting lime green Mickey paint chips from the Home Depot to make name tags.

Klynch - I double checked with rome in Limo and they said there aren't enough seats to fit a party of 5 and your party of 4. Oh, well, it was worth a try.

Thanks for checking.

Still looking to share a Limo / Tour guide in Rome. We're party of 4.

2 adults, Daughter 13 and Son 11.

Okay.... so where did you get the info? :confused3:confused3

I was on hold today with DCL for 18 minutes today only to be told that they don't have anything yet.... BUT they would have something before we cruise :rotfl: oh seriously, that's a great idea.

I'd love to have a description of the Day on the Farm and Palermo for Kids.

Well it's down to 105 days!!:woohoo:

I was wondering if you gold cc members could throw us silvers a bone and let us know how hard or easy it was to get your ressies today. Were there still a lot of openings ( I'm mainly interested in Palo brunch and dinner) or were you already limited from the platinum and concierge?
Thanks!
