June 18, 2009 3 night Wonder

Good afternoon everyone...Dagny, Kim, Bill...anyone else there?

Have we made any decisions on the FE exchange plans? I'm up for whatever you all decide. Since I have a million and one kids, I feel a little bad for you all having to get that many gifts! Those teenagers are going to be the hardest to shop for....gotta give me some clues on them.
My kids will be perfectly happy with things from the dollar store, sand toys, paper and pen, candy whatever.

Maybe you can all write a little something about your kids...name, age, likes, dislikes, personality.

Here are mine...

Karlie (12 next month) She is crafty....she crochets, loves to plant seeds and read.

Kassie (8..9 in August) She is athletic...plays softball. She likes to be outdoors and is a pretty typical 8-9 year old I think. Kind of a tomboy...but not extremely tom boyish.

Kole (5) Will be starting school soon! He likes toy swords, balls, paper and pens. He is a pretty typical 5 year old....just a little on the goofy side like his daddy.

Kenzie (2) VERY active. She doesn't sit still long and always wants to be on the go. She likes Tinkerbell, Dora the Explorer and Sponge Bob.

We also have the early dining rotation. However, my daughter Laura and I will be dining in Palo the first evening. Can't wait! I've heard so many wonderful things about the food..

I have 3 kids..

Laura (19) Her favorite character is Goofy. She likes music, makeup.. girlie stuff.
Andrew (13) His favorite character is Stitch. He plays the drums, music and loves Star Wars.
Abby (9) Her favorite character is Pluto. She likes to read, loves art, journals, animals.

They also like stuff from the dollar store..

My countdown says 21 days!!! Have a great night, Kim

Hey Kim... What restaurant will you potentially be missing when you go to Palo, or do you know yet? If you can,,, dont' miss animators palate. It is a show in itself.. You can eat at Parrot Cay and Tritons for breakfast and lunch, I think with Parrot Cay.

:woohoo: I got mine two weeks ago! Neener, neener, neener!

Hey Kim....

Abby and Kassie will be in the same age group. And Bill has a daughter who is the same age as your son. I have a 12 year old daughter who isn't quite old enough to be in Aloft.
Thanks for the low down on the kids. Your oldest is lucky that she can go to Palos. How fun! My hubby and I are going to Palos on the 2nd night I think...I don't remember...I will have to look at my reservation again. See you soon!!

Uh hem,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I believe the phrase is NANNY, NANNY, BOO,, BOO.
Fine, then , I will just hold my breath!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Whew,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, that was tough.
WELL, then,,,,, I,,,,,, I,,,,, will ,,,,, not talk...........................................................................
HMM,,, wait a minute,,,, I'm already not talking. I'm typing. DUH...
Okay,, Hey I need to let you know that sometimes they let 12 year olds into the aloft and stack. Particularly if the kids are mature and not likely to do well in the oceaneer lab. You have to talk to the cast members in Aloft to see what they think.
Since I am at the office , I think I will go home and look at my cruise docs.
Bill

Are you talking about the cruise documents that came with the luggage tags? I got that last week!! I was so excited.. I can not believe I'm leaving next weekend to start driving down to Florida.. I have so much to do between now and then! I'm really excited to do "special" things with Laura, Palo and Serenity Bay, maybe even a spa treatment.. we'll see. I think we will skip Triton's one night and do it for lunch instead. That way, we'll eat in each restuarant...

Karlie is mature in certain ways and immature in other ways. I think I prefer her to not know she could possibly be in Aloft. I would prefer her to hang out with little kids than get influenced by the older crowd. (trying to keep her innocent as long as possible). Plus, she will be in the same club as her sister...not that there would be any love loss if the older moves up...just easier for me to keep track of them.

Enjoy gazing into your cruise docs!!! I don't like looking at mine...reminds me how much I spent. LOL.

OMG...it won't be long before we are cruising!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kirk is home now. We get to spend tomorrow together and then I work again this weekend. Next weekend off...then the following Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then..........Florida HERE WE COME!!!!!!:woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay:

Kim...where are you driving from? I would much rather drive....I HATE to fly!!! I would take some valium and drink the whole flight if I didn't have to take care of 4 kids! Plus...the trip from Washington to Florida would suck up our whole vacation time. Drive safe! See you soon.

We live in PA.. Which in total is about a 15 hour drive. I have done it all in one day, don't recommend it. 2 years ago, we became DVC members; so last year and this trip we are staying in Hilton Head Island, it's about 8 hours from me and then 5 more to the mouse.. It's a great stopping point for us. I'm staying there 2 nights and then driving down to AKV, we'll be there for a week before the cruise. That's why I am leaving so much earlier. I love to fly, but I can see how some don't. Have all of your kids been on a plane before? That must be a long flight from WA. I forgot if you were going to Disney World before or after the cruise.. Is anyone else going to be there before? So, when is school out for all of the kiddos? We are out next Thursday. Have a great day! Kim

Sounds like you have it planned out perfectly. How fun! I LOVE road trips! I drove from Vancouver, Wa to Escondido, Ca when my 5 year old was a baby. I left at 5am and drove till midnight when I arrived at my friend's house. I prefer to take that trip in two days (it's about 1050 miles). My next road trip will be next Summer with my best friend since kindergarten. She lives in Ca and we will meet in the middle and drive to Mt. Rushmore...I've never seen that and have always wanted to!!
We are thinking about becoming DVC members. Heard about it from Bill...he's a member too. Are you glad you are a member? Money is a big issue right now...so don't know if it will happen.
We are going to WDW and Sea World AFTER the cruise. We are staying for a week in a condo near WDW.
My 12 year old gets out of school June 12th and my 8 year old will miss her last day of school (June 17th) We fly out on June 17th (hubby's 40th Birthday)! My oldest kids have been on a plane, not the youngest. It should be interesting. I think I will have to double my antidepressant..HA, HA
Kerrie

I am here. Has been a terribly busy week, unfortunately. I can't wait until June 17 when we fly to Orlando, LOL.

I think Bill asked about the kids. My son is 9 (will be 10 in August). He is a very social kid and he loves to meet new people. He might be shy at first, but once you get to know him, he won't be quiet, LOL. He is into sports and plays soccer, basketball and football. I suspect he will spend a great deal of time on Deck 10 trying to muster up a basketball game or two.

We are in the second dining seating - it works well for us since we eat late at home.

We are DVC members too. We are staying in WDW for a few days after our cruise and using points at Animal Kingdom Lodge. We stayed there in March and really enjoyed it! I would love to hear more about Hilton Head - it is the only DVC resort we have not stayed at.

Ok, I think I am caught up now on everything. Do we have four families participating in the FE now?

Can you all PM me the following (Kari, I have your info already):

Cabin number(s)
Number of adults, number of kids (and ages of kids too)
Favorite character(s) if any.

I will compile a list for everyone and PM it back.

On the bright side, I got my documents and cabin assignment. I am getting VERY excited!

Hey Dagny,,, we are staying at the animal Kingdom lodge after the cruise. We have to go see my mom's previous best friend in St. Augustine and then return to Orlando. We have a studio for the first night and then a two bedroom savanna view for the next three nights. Points limited me to that amount. I didn't want to borrow from next years points. Hey you guys,,,, look at the personal navigators listed for the Wonder Three day cruise and it shows that there is a Disney Vacation Club meeting at four PM Thursday.. I assume that the schedule will be about the same. Dagny,,,, you need to go to that because you get neat DVC stuff like caps towels,,, etc. They give them to everyone that is in your group. We have gotten up to twelve caps on a cruise in the past. They don't want to keep them , they want you to advertise for them. Later in the cruise will be a DVC meet to advertise to prospective buyers. We are still happy we are with them. How about you, Dagny? Kerrie, I am sure that if you guys wanted to come,,, and find out about it, they would be happy.. Right now, if you buy 100 points, you also get a free Disney cruise line cruise 3 day for four in addition.
Bill

I am a member of DVC too.. I love it.. my only regret is not joining sooner! HHI is wonderful, very family oriented, quiet, relaxing. The same with Vero Beach. I highly recommend both! I will also try to get to one of the DVC member meets on board. This trip, I was able to book at my 11 month window and got a week on the "club" level at AKV.. It will be my first time up on the 6th floor, so I'm really looking forward to that. My sister, her family and my family shared a 2 bedroom in November.. It was fantastic! You'll love it. Well.. I better get back to my laundry and seeing what clothes to pack for the trip!! Talk to you guys later, Kim

Hey Bill:

Yep, gotta love those DVC Meetings. On the cruise I took last month, I finally got the elusive big towel - you know the one with the stripes! I won't let anyone use it though, LOL. I have a ton of those red hats too :)

I own DVC at SSR - I wish I had joined earlier. We joined in 2002 and have not regretted our decision one bit. We are thinking of adding on just a few points at the Contemporary - maybe 25 or 30 - enough for a few nights in a studio! Now if there were a DVC at the Polynesian, I would add a bunch more!

Kim - totally agree with you on Vero Beach. We have stayed there many times! We enjoy the relaxation and the beach is wonderful. We will have to give HH a try. We were at AKL in a Savannah View in Jambo in March and it was fantastic. We will be staying in Kidani this time so looking forward to that experience!

Hey Guys,,,, We are slipping. The thread was on page two. SOOOOOO, the savanah view is pretty good, EH? What is it like? What do you see? Is it easy to get in and out of the resort when you are going to Typhoon Lagoon? I am thinking that we will get season tickets for the water parks only since we will likely go there each day. I need to get transport to the port Thursday AM. What do you all think I should do? One way only. I need to rent a car when we get back and drive up to Jacksonville before going to the AKL. What car agency should I use afterwords? Maybe a Pruis or go big time and get a Mustang convertible?
Bill

Yes...we ARE slipping! I am always looking forward to viewing your new posts and no one is posting. Boo :sad1: Bill...why don't you bookmark the thread so you can find it easier..that's what I do cuz I got sick of clicking around to find it. :)
Do you all realize we only have 18 more days!!!!!!:banana::banana:
Bill...How far from the port will you be? We are staying at Country Inns & Suites By Carlson. Hubby will take us to the port to check in while he drives the rental back to the hotel and catches the shuttle back to the port. If you aren't far from there, I bet we can make it work to get you and your family there too. Let me know.
We are renting from Budget...getting a "FORD EXPLORER 4WD 4DR/7PSGR
or similar"...I only wish we could get the convertible Mustang!! Don't think we would all fit. :grouphug: My vote for you is for the convertible...it will cheer Kirsten up. :thumbsup2
