June 16, 2014 Wonder to Alaska

I'm 50 something and enjoyed FE's. My problem with this cruise is that the FE's would take up at least a suitcase that I would have to fly coast to coast. The door will be decorated though.

I am not going to be participating in FE gifts. We are travelling from the middle east and our luggage allowance is slim.

Question: Does anyone know for sure how many hours we can book at Flounders ahead of time? Can we get more hours to book being Platinum CC members?

Any idea when timings for excurisons are posted? We are going to try and do 2 excursions Ketchikan.

The 25% discount we received from being on the Dream during Hurricane Sandy.

Oh Boy. I heard about that nightmare! Were you on the Dream or the Fantasy?! I am so sorry you had to ever experience such a thing! i hear Alaska waters are pretty calm! :cool1:

We were on the Dream. It was pretty bad. Didn't go to any ports, aqua duck was closed the entire cruise, a couple decks were off limits, plates were falling off tables, etc.
Hoping for calmer waters on this upcoming one:)

Luckily, you can bet on it!

I think our final payment is due in February for the cruise....and I guess I should start looking at airfare. I think we're going to Seattle for 2 days then taking the Amtrak to Vancouver. Hubby thinks we can squeeze in Victoria to visit Buchart Gardens....I think he's crazy because the kids want to sightsee Seattle.

I may have to do Hotwire for a hotel --- I really want to stay at the Westin in Vancouver. So much planning to do...the kids finish school the day before we leave for this cruise....I'm starting to get excited :)

PS --- what are families of 4 finding for Hotels in Seattle (Downtown) and Vancouver (Downtown/Coal Habour/Stanley Park) --- we usually stay at 4 star or higher (only because of Hotwire & Priceline)?

Anyone buy their airfare yet? or when are you planning to book that? How far in advance to book Amtrak from Seattle to Vancouver?

Hello all!

My family and I will be joining you on this June cruise- our 2nd Disney cruise. We are all so excited. The hubby and I will be celebrating our 20th anniversary and the kids (DS10 and DD14) get to tag along. :)

You can book Amtrak now (I believe) for June -- they're not as stingy as their dates as airlines...
And Amtrak's fares aren't like airlines--most times the price you see now will remain the same and usually only go up slightly (unless getting a sleeper car) when it gets close to the departure day.
I wish I could book my airline ticket but southwest's calendar is only open till the first week of June I think :(

Hello! I am new to DisBoards and am more of an onlooker so this is my first post :cool1:

I'm Amy Melissa and I will be joining you all with my fiance Nhan. This is my 4th Disney Cruise and his 2nd.

I asked to join the FB group too.

I'm super excited and have been planning since we booked in August. Just curious when you all are planning on booking air and hotel. From what I have seen there has been a wide range of almost a year out to 2 months before.

Look forward to planning with everyone!

Howdy all,

Navy family here moving to Hawaii but going to take an Alaskan cruise before heading over to paradise. It'll be me, my wife, and four daughters, 16, 14, 10, and 8. 2 Category 9C staterooms hoping for a magical upgrade!

20th wedding anniversary for us too!

We sailed on the Wonder back in 2004 and did the Trans-Atlantic on Magic this past summer. Glad to be back on the Wonder and super excited to be joining you all!

I just booked our flights on Southwest. They don't fly into Vancouver so we are flying into Seattle and then most likely renting a car to drive north. The train schedule is very limited and it looks like we would almost have to ride the bus on the way back to Seattle. We shall see. I have not had much luck finding park and cruise hotels and parking at the port is crazy so ....

Checking in here (already joined facebook!) Family trip for Grandma consisting of... Grandma, her three grown kids and their spouses, and their kids. Kids are aged 11 - boy, 10-girl, 9-boy, and 4-girl.

I'm a spouse and have the 4 y/o, DH and I were married in WDW, during the planning is how I found out about disboards and the fabulous people on here. Since the wedding, I've mostly just retreated back to lurking for Dland trip planning.

This is the first Disney cruise for everyone in the family, and DH and I have only cruised once before (sans DD). Right now I'm just cruising the boards, collecting my data for tips, tricks, etc. and making air, hotel, transportation, cruising, and excursion plans!

Joining in on the fun :cool1:

Bumped our July cruise up to June due to DH's work schedule. This will be our 7th Disney cruise, but 1st Alaskan. It will be myself, DH & DS (12). We would like to join the FE as well.

Off to read the previous 12 pages to catch up.

Just got off the Magic and a3 day Bahama trip! Such fun. The newly remained Magic is lovely and the shows were just fantastic. Now I can focus on Alaska! WE have our airfare booked (thank goodness for Amex points) Hotel reservation at PanPacific….I have heard great things, it's super close to the port..really convenient…Still looking for something a little more economical…Now checking out excursions…TA suggested White Rail Pass, Dog Mushing. What is everyone else wishing for?
