June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

Hi Everyone,

What a strange weekend without being able to post. At first thought it was just me being excluded. We are DVC members so was trying to use up some of my points which expire end of September and forgot to bank so was keen to post and keep up to date. Never mind we are back on line now.

It is unbearable weather we are having here at present so hot and today humid garden is drying up and with the water ban cannot water only with a can from water but. Desperately need a good shower of rain.

Have great day everyone.

Bumping us back up to page one! :Pinkbounc

One year from today we HOPE to be in Barcelona--this depends on if we get a hotel room before then :rolleyes1

Good Morning/Afternoon Everyone!

It's been a busy week around here and I haven't had the chance to be online very much. I tried to book hotel rooms again this morning and couldn't get anything. Some of the websites for the hotels only let you book at 6 months, and Orbitz, and Expedia would only let you book through May. So, I guess I will keep trying. At least I have the 15th booked at the Hilton. But we want to fly in on the 14th so I need to find a place we can spend 2 nights.

Britt's boyfriend David flew in for the week so they are constantly on the go and Alyssa and I have been going to the pool with our friends from the neighborhood. Today and tomorrow I need to get us ready for our trip to New York City and Niagara Falls. We leave on Sunday and Alyssa has a dance recital this weekend so Friday night and all day Saturday are busy.

We are planning on doing the Friday, June 15th departure flight which will arrive the morning of Saturday, June 16th in Barcelona -- eliminates the Barcelona room problems -- we will just be cranky for a couple of days from jet lag. Planning on staying 3 days afterwards at DLP. :moped:

Wow, it never occured to me that it would be difficult to get a place to stay in Barcelona. Its not even peak tourist season.

What trains run between Barcelona/Paris/Disneyland Paris? I'd like to arrange a side-trip if possible.

Can't believe that it's 1 year from today that we'll be flying in! :cool1: I still can't find a room for the night of the 15th. I'm wondering if I should get worried. I'm assuming that "Diagonal" is an area, correct? (IE: Hilton Diagonal) So if another hotel could be found in that area it would be ok but then what about Disney transportation to the ship? Has anyone contacted Disney to ask them about the hotels? I've just been going through the specific hotel websites.

We'll be flying in to arrive Sat. morning as well. Jet lag be darned! 6 airline tickets from the left coast is expense enough without having to worry about hotel rooms. (From what I saw, they don't make rooms big enough for my family there.)

4kidsandadog- have you already arranged for your flights? Which airline? It's a looong trip from where we are. We thought about flying in Sat. morning as well, but we're too worried about flight delays, etc. One good thing is if you tell the airline people that you're booked on a tour or cruise they will go out of their way to get you where you're going. (This happened to my husband and I on our way to London. The plane we were on had some problems so got grounded. They ended up putting us on a different airline, business class). So if anything holds you up make sure you let them know you're booked for a cruise!

No, we haven't booked our flights yet.... it doesn't look like we can get to those dates just yet. Thanks for the tip on letting the airline know we are cruising. I sure wouldn't mind getting bumped to business class if we needed to!

Hey Everybody! Happy Year from our Cruise! I feel like having a party. :cheer2: :Pinkbounc pirate: (I know those don't go together, but you have to have a pirate at a cruise party!)

We just got back from our roller coaster vacation. We went to Cedar Point in Ohio and rode more coasters than I thought it was possible to ride. I kept thinking, "Okay, this is DS's vacation. Next year, we get to do it MY way!) :cool1: We rode one coaster that took us up 310 feet and then dropped us at an 80 degree angle at 90 miles per hour. And this is my son's idea of fun??? After three days of being dropped, turned upside down, zoomed about, and generally abused at high speeds, we went to Washington DC for some "normal" fun. But, that would not last because we were, of course, close to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, where DS introduced me to more coasters that would make me feel like a bobble-headed doll.

My spine / neck / head are almost recovered now, though, and I am looking forward to planning for Europe. Yeah! (DS reminded me, though, that we can STILL plan to go to Alton Towers in England at the end of our cruise "if we want to." :rolleyes1 )

In the mean time, I need to get our passports in order and start checking on flights, etc. We'll be flying out of Atlanta, so we won't have as far to go as some of you, but it will still cost a bundle, I think. Oh well, in for a penny, in for a pound, as they say. I think we'll come in a day or so early, though. I'm afraid I'd spend the next year worrying about not making my connections if I didn't. Instead, I can worry about whether or not there will be a room available in Barcelona! ;)

Have a good one, all! I just wanted to check in and say hello.

Just popped in for a minute before I shut my computer down for the week. We are off to New York so I'll talk to everyone next week when we get back. Keep posting and keep us on page 1!

Hi There!

It is hitting me today that in less than one year, 363 short days, we will be on the Magic! :woohoo:

I have a misc question--do you think that there will be KK doughnuts on board? If so, how would they get them, fly them over? Are there any specialty pastry that Europe is known for that would replace that on the breakfast menu?

Has anyone started thinking about any special meets or activities? Palo on a sea day? On our last Turkeyday cruise we usually met about 10 each night in one of the clubs.

T-shirts or logos? Didnt someone say they were going to work on one?

Can you tell I am starting to get that excitment? :rotfl:

Thinking about food 12 months out. Am really looking forward to the Italian Ice cream as it is the best in the world I think and well worth getting off the ship for.

Weather here still nice and warm and have just realised we will be sailing on the longest day 21st June next year. Hope the weather lasts for Wimbledon as that is something I really enjoy. Some sort of football mania at present and really do not get excited about that - please dont shout me down. Glad the weather is good an I can escape outside and away from it.

Would be great to have an early meet up how about secret deck 7 and all bring a bottle of something from home to share?

Well, whatever you are doiung have a great time and lets keep us up the page.

Anyone any news about hotels as yet - all seems a bit quiet at present.

Hey Yall!

We just went though two days of college orientation. Boy is it different now! The seats in the classrooms have ethernet hookup :surfweb: How cool is that?

Ds 18 is excited about it all. Brought back lots of memories. What is everyone else up to?

Now that the # 5 ranked FIFA TEAM USA has massively underachieved -- what country should I cheer on in the World Cup tournament now? Should I choose Spain, France or Italy since those are the countries we will be visiting next year? Should I support England -- everyone knows about Beckham but Crouch scares me (6'7" soccer player is just too tall)? :confused3

Gotta go with my Anglo roots and stay with England. (Though, of course, Ghana looks like the team to beat! ;) )

Hi - we are just back from our first cruise and we loved it so much we booked this cruise!

I am looking forward so much to this trip. A little bio - All my life I dreamed of traveling - I never got to do too much until recently. Now, we are starting to travel!

I am a SAHM. We used to live in LA, but moved to Minnesota 10 years ago and love it!

I am mid forties - DH too. Next year will be our 20th anniversary. DS is 10 and DD is 7. Both would love to meet people. Both are very typical of their respective genders - son is into sports Star Wars video. DD is into dolls clothes singing dancing...

Any advice anyone has for what to do for a few days prior to the boat leaving would be highly appreciated! We are thinking of staying in London and then going to Barcelona, or to Amsterdam.

I read how most of the hotel rooms in Barcelona are drying up.

Can't wait to meet everyone. We booked so late we are down on deck 2! Kathleen
