June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

I am a little bit overwhelmed by the excursions. There are sooo many for each city, it will be hard to pick just one. I guess we will have to set a budget and go from there.

Most annoyed as it would appear from email received that us over here in the UK are not to receive the planning brochure - have written back and am most annoyed.

Ok, I have added up the potential excursions for my dd and I and ...holy cow..thats alotta mula! :guilty: I'd better ask santa for a lottery win! :rotfl:
Is anyone familiar with the french port stops and also , sardinia or palermo? If yes, do you know if we can just walk around the port or go to a local beach by foot? I'd love to cut down the cost w/o sacrificing anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anybody know when/how these excursions actually open up for booking? On RCCI, you can book (and pay) once they are posted, but that doesn't look to be the case here. Thanks.

Unfortunately disney does not allow people to book until 75 days before your cruise date. Unless you are a 2nd timer then 90 days or if you are in a suite...or something like that it's 105 days before. They just want to tease us? Whatever! :)

Can anyone shed some light on the booking process? I understand what you were saying about when we can book, but how is it done? Online? Over the phone? Our only other Disney cruise was 6 years ago and I think we did it over the phone, but quite honestly I don't remember. Is it like a mad rush when the excursions open?

Yes - fairly mad rush - the website unlocks at midnight Pacific time (3am Eastern) at 105/90/75 days as outlined above.....

Well then I guess I'll be sitting at my computer at 3am ready to go! Does the site ever crash? That would be my big fear.

Hope all had a great holiday! Looking forward to 2007. Question for anyone...do you know if you can use disney dollars towards your account balance on their cruises? My dd got some for xmas for the cruise, but not sure and couldn't find anything about using them.
Thanks..have a great new year!pixiedust:

Hi sorry cannot answer your question about Disney Dollars but am certain someone can.

My husband has been playing around on the computer and found our cruise advertised but it states there is only 2 swimming pools but a tennis court which I am sure was not there when we last cruised October 2005.

Anyone know if they are planning to do away with one of the pools?

Anyway - still plodding through the excursions and have made a short list of what I would be interested in and must get husband to look as well. Both my daughters managed to get home for Christmas but we had bad fog for three days and Heathrow and Gatwick airport were seriously affected with no domestic flights and many others delayed or cancelled. They have now both gone up North of England where eldest daughter is taking over as bank manager and the other one will be returning to the Channel Isles.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE Looking forward to meeting you all in June.

Sorry, don't know anything about using Disney dollars or the pool. I am checking in from WDW. We got here Tuesday and we'll be here through the 8th. It's pretty crowded, but not too bad. I am looking forward to taking more time to look at the excursions, they look very interesting.

I spent HOURS reading and printing out all of the excursions - and still have not picked any. The BCN excursions - has anyone looked at the dates? It doesn't look like many of them are offered around our embarkation date. Am I just reading this wrong? Maybe they just expect you to arrange this on your own. That is what I was planning, but the dates and times given really confused me. Oh well!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone:goodvibes

I totally agree with you.

Last night at New Years Party I pulled out Rome & Florence itineracy sheets that I printed out & I was getting some opinions.

I think I am set on almost all of them.

Yes, I also read about the tours in Barcelona, didn't pertain to our dates. I was disappointed in the tours. :confused3

For those of you who didn't book your rooms in Barcelona, I did last eve. Phew.......

Hi Everyone,

Must adit did not look util now for tours on Barcelona and see what you mean.

They are obviously only geared to those doing transatlantic both ways and not to people flying in for the cruise.

Perhaps a call to Disney may be in order.

Hope everyone had a great christmas and new year and now back to reality and planning for the summer.

Brenda

I looked at the barcelona tours and realized that I have planned to do 2 of them on my own and it will be much less expensive. I just bought books on sardinia and sicily to see if it's worthwhile to do on your own there also. It will be alot of money for all the excursions I want to take. I have saved all that I am interested in. So I'll do my research on the rest. I have plenty of time since I can't book until April 16th! Anyways...Happy New Year everyone...only 5months 16 days until we travel! I am so excited that it's finally 2007!

OK - that makes more sense - I just didn't think about repositioning cruises. We are staying an extra day when we get back to BCN - was planning on doing on our own (we may be too tired) they just had confused me on the web site - now it all makes sense. (isn't it so nice we have this board)

Yes, so much money for excursions - it's not like they are very expensive alone - it's just all together and multiply by 5!!

I'm going to B&N tomorrow to pick up some tour books.

It will be here before you know it!

Just wonder if and when Disney publish times for their excursions, we are on the main seating and also wonder what time they usually leave in the morning.

Also wondering whether to take Disney trips or plan our own.
Is everyone goiung to Rome? We are giving it a miss this time and wonder if we will have the Magic to ourselves.

Bren

We are going definately doing 3 main stops ..doing the big pompeii/sorrento/capri, rome and florence/pisa. I have bought books on sardinia and sicily to see if we should do on our own and am still thinking about the french stops. I wondered about dinner also, but we are late seating so the only problem that we would have is the rome and florence stops as we are so far out from the ship. We probably won't get times until closer to the first cruise. I would also assume that the all day excursions would leave within the first hour the ships docked. I think I have the excursions taken care of..as far as the planning tools, but I still want to get the dinner itin. so I can see what kind of clothing we will need. I can't pack well, so I need plenty of time to save space! Especially since I will have to carry most since DD is 9 and will be "tired"! :)

Does anyone know if you have early seating and you miss dinner what you can do? Can you go to late seating or do you just order room service? We have early seating and I imagine we could miss dinner a couple of times if we get caught up in the port.
