June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

Hi Carol,

Both of these hotels are very good and Dorchester is well known as being one of the top hotels in London. The Royal Garden being situated in Kensington is well situated close to all of the top shops of London and the attractions are easily reached from there. Shops such as Harrods are there within walking distance.

Dorchester is on Hyde Park again very close to amenities and nice position.
Just depends on what you want to spend on a hotel. Have just looked at the Royal Garden Hotel on the web site and they have lots of information on it also.

Bren

Thanks Brenda

Yes I recorded the 30 minute show. Interesting to say the least. I was a bit surprised as how much English may be spoken.

How does one post a message to this thread but not a reply to a specific message. I want to pose a general question regarding this cruise.

Thanks
smillingjack

For those who live in Florida it might be nice to meet in the Orlando area prior to the cruise to sort out any mutual details, questions or problems we are having.

The same might be possible in Barcelona. I am a bit concerned about transportation from either the airport and/or hotel to the ship. We are scheduled to arrive in Barcelona one day early. I have booked a hotel near the airport. I just found out that Disney is planning to pick up from six hotels in Barcelona but not the one we booked. I have no idea where they are as of yet.

In my last call to DCL they indicated there may be waiting lists for hotels. Considering the number of folks on the cruise that does not surprise me.

Maybe we might meet somewhere in Barcelona. We might consider wearing some Disney attire.

Just thoughts.

Please post your thoughts or suggestions, thank you!!!:cool1:

We are also staying in a non disney hotel in barcelona. I did some research on locations etc. and feel confident that we can get to the port with a taxi. . Alot of people in this link are going in 1-2 days early. We are arriving the 14th, going to be doing some on our own travel. Check out their metro system. I understand it's easy to get around and safe and clean. Excellent idea on the meet...lets keep that going and see what disers are interested! :)

Excited and freaking out a little. The excursions are going to drive me crazy:upsidedow It's been fun though! Any one checking out the 2008 cali cruises??

Hope everyone is having better weather than we are here with horrific gales 80 mph which sound like an express train going through the back garden.

Do so hope that we get packs from Disney giving details of the excursions so I can just browse through them. Am going cross eyed keep looking at them on the screen and it is not the same. Anyone heard anything about that yet?

Lisatex-
Just waiting until 1/31 to book the westbound repo! Funny enough, I emailed the TA working on the pre/post cruise europe travel for me and told her I wanted to book the repo so she needed to get done with europe so I know how much and feel secure about booking the repo. I don't need to be in debt forever..just this year will do! hahaha

On the packet front: I haven't received them but the cm I spoke with said they are usually mailed around 5 months before and she new they were preparring them when I spoke with her. I have learned not to rely on cm words, but am excited to get those packages. Although, I am a dork as I have done all my online registering already. Just waiting to book the excursions.
Have a great day! Looking forward to meeting all of you!
Steph :)

We are looking at the Eastbound Repo and wondering about the cost of this.
Apart from LA and CC it includes places we have never been to and all those lovely at sea days.

Anyone any idea what this cost last time just to give us an idea?

Hi. My family is booked on the June 6th 10 day Med cruise. A few of us live near WDW and are planning a pre cruise Get-Together and BBQ in the Orlando area. Possibly at Fort Wilderness or my small farm and maybe combined with a group day a WDW.

I thought we might open the doors and invite Med Cruisers for all the other Med dates except those Repositioning Cruiser types .... OK, I guess you guys can come too, but only if you promise to do the cooking.

I'm thinking April but no date has been set so suggestions are welcome.

PS: I was only teasing the Repositioning Cruisers.. They still have to cook though. wink wink

Sounds good, but for those of us not in Florida...anyone arriving early in barcelona...how does Lunch after check in sound? Maybe meet after we drop luggage and check in then do lunch or the aquarium ...suggestions?
Steph

Steph, we are arriving on the 15th. I am sure we will be wiped out from the overnight flight, etc. Are you arriving in Barcelona early? I have booked Disney transportation to the ship. This may not have been necessary but not having any experience with transportation in Barcelona motivated me to do so.

Disney at one time was saying that they had a limited window of time which the buses had to be at the ship. This question needs to be raised again to make sure everyone is aware of any unique situations.

We are staying at the Cuitat del Prat which is very close to the airport.

Keep the information flowing!

Thats good that you did the disney transportation. We are doing it one way as we are staying down on las ramblas before. We arrive on the 14th. Going to do some "on our own" sightseeing and my plan (as of today!) was to check in as early as possible on the boat and then leave and check out the aquarium. I heard it was amazing. So maybe a better meet would be on the ship at lunch time....does anyone know if they are serving lunch to us? NM.. I will call DCL now and see... I'll post again in a few :)

Ok, so more info...Once we check in we must actually board the ship, clear customs and then we can disembark. Additionally, Lunch will be available on board. We cannot board the ship until 1:00pm. She suggested getting there an hour early to do the paperwork, then just wait until the boat is cleared to be boarded. So we could all meet ON THE SHIP for lunch. Just throwing that out there. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

We are also arriving on the 15th, & staying very close to the airport. smillingjack is there a shuttle to take you from the airport to the hotel? We are staying at Renaissance Barcelona Airport Parc De Negocis Mas Blau I S

The next morn on the 16th we plan to drop off our luggage at the port & take the bus tour, for the afternoon.

Hope this helps

I checked the hotel we are staying and they do provide shuttle service both ways. You might check directly or online with the hotel that you are staying.
My plan as of now is to go to hotel on the 15th, no idea what to do then, but then take the shuttle back to the airport on the morning of the 16th and somehow find Disney transportation to the ship.

I think that getting to the ship early is a wise move. Maybe we will have learned how to manuver our way around Barcelona by then. Hopefully, the four years of high school Spanish my son has taken will come in handy. I know they do not actually use Spanish but Catalan is related loosely!

I think having lunch at Topsiders or Lumiers is an excellent start. We should come up with a "mark" to wear to identify usins! Some Disney "thing".

All suggestions are welcome. The more we communicate the better off we will be.

smillingjack:) :yay:

According to the CM I spoke with today...no you cannot drop off. You must check in and then board and disembark. I was dissappointed to, as I hoped to drop and run to not waste time. Thinking about it though, It will give us plenty of time to get to the port...check out at my hotel is not until 11am so we're good until then. We were just going to do the aquarium that day, so it's close to the ship. I figured..even though it will be in port, we should take advantage of all the stuff we paid for! Plus, I want to have a good spot when we leave. I usually miss the sailing out unpacking etc. All of a sudden I look out my window and we're moving! We don't have a window this time so I want to be preparred. I hope they have a good party planned! She also said that checking in online will make the port much faster! So I'd recommend it! I haven't received my packet yet, but she assured me they were coming. Have a good night all...
