June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

Just been looking on the web at Ernesto information and do pray that it does not do too much damage and keep safe.

Just looking on the site for royal palaces as we are thinking of going to Buckingham Palace again in September.

This site shows opening times, how to book tickets for all the royal palaces and also gives details of changing the guard etc.

Just in case anyone is spending a bit of time in London - although Buckingham Palace will not be open in June I feel that Windsor Castle probably will be and also Clarence House. Windsor is well worth the visit although it is a little way from the centre of London.

Site is www.royal.gov.uk and has some good information.

My daughter is feeling better and went back to school on Monday. While getting my haircut after work, I met someone else who experienced the 3 day stomach virus and they heard that the local hospital is also full with patients. Looking forward to the upcoming long weekend and the start of American (for my new UK friends) football season. The Cincinnati Bengals best player played last night for the first time since major knee construction in January and played great. They city is buzzing with excitement.

Just checking in on the meet thread...

Brenda...the palaces sound amazing, I am kind of bummed we aren't stopping over in London!

Jim...glad your daughter is feeling better. I'm not a big Bengals fan, but my dad is! I'm sure he'll be at a few Bengals games this season.

I am still trying to work on getting our flights booked. I am working with a great TA right now who is very helpful. We budgeted $5000 for airfare for our family of 5 and she is working hard to find us something in our price range! Hopefully it will get taken care of within the next couple days.

I just moved back to school on Sunday, today was my first day of classes. So now I am all set up in my new apartment and trying to get everything together for my Junior year!

Hope everyone is doing well, I can't wait for the 3 day weekend!

Sorry to hear you have this strange tummy bug in your country also. It seems to be going round here, I had it back in early June and it is really nasty and very strange. My daughter in the Channel Isles had it last week - does leave you very week.

The Palaces are incredible. We have just had our bank-holiday weekend and they did a three day t.v. programme. They were digging up the lawns in Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Hollyrood house in Scotland to try and find evidence of past buildings. It became compulsive watching and they found lots of evidence of what was on the site prior to the present buildings.Bet they have had to work hard to get the gardens back to normal before the Queen returns from Balmoral,

Hope you all manage to get flights and accommodation sorted.
Been thinking of various things to see in the different ports but am going round in circles so will probably leave that until the dark cold winter days.

Less than 4 months to Christmas. Looking forward to visiting WDW decorated for the Holidays.

Having better luck moving ahead with our 4-day 3-night trip to WDW on Dec 9th. We have our DVC reservation at GF, our AP purchased and used in June, our plane tickets, our Candlelight Processional Dinner package at Le Cellier for Sunday night, and our tickets for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and our ADR for Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner for Monday night.

It's a wonderful feeling to do the research, make the reservations and know how to work the parks. It's funny and sad when you hear stories of families going to the WDW and missing the best parts or not knowing about Fastpass,
etc.

See, that is just the thing that is stressing me out so much about this cruise! When I go to WDW, I know where to stay, how much plane tickets should cost, how to use FP, and all the little extras! But with this cruise I am so totally clueless. We'll be lucky if we make it to the ship with the way my planning is going...

I am also making a quick trip to WDW for Christmas, just 2 nights so I don't have to miss any school! I just really wanted to go to MVMCP and my sister is a WDW cast member so she got me 50% off a room at Pop Century, so I'm all set for December 1-3. It's so short, but I think it will be worth it, I hear they are taping the Christmas parade that day! And, it's always fun to get to see my sister, even if it's just for a weekend.

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Think we got the tail end of your hurricane over here - wind and rain and losts of the cooking apples down off my tree. Today is hot and beautiful blue sky and sunshine just right.

Just wondering, have asked DU and they say there is no availablility, would like to know the additional cost from category 5 to category 3. Not saying we will try just wondering what the price is. Know there may be availability around the 90 day mark and need to plan. Would love to surprise my husband but need to know cost first. How can I find this out?

Brenda

Hi Brenda

Actually this is what you need to do. First get your TA to put you on the waitlist for a Cat 3. That way if one comes up then you can say yeah or nay (they may not even be taking waitlists anymore, I have heard it both ways). The availbility may be there at 105 days, not 90 as the suites have to be paid for at that time.

And last, we need to wish you GOOD LUCK!

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day. It was actually quite cold here! Our pool party/cookout didn't go as planned since no one wanted to get in the pool with the cold weather!

We actually tried to book a category 3 when this cruise went on sale due to the fact that there are 5 people in our party. I got on the phone right when DCL opened, but they only had a cat. 3 on one of the July sailings to offer me. I am on the waitlist through my TA. Keeping my fingers crossed! Although, my TA told me the deposits for suites are non-refundable and around $700/person, so I am not sure who would cancel a suite! I am holding out some hope though...

Hope everyone has a great week.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the information on category 3 just was really wondering what the difference per person price would be. Will be satisfied with our cat.5 but can still wish and plan of course.

See that some people are getting paranoid about the stingrays now. Do wish people would just let animals live their own life and respect them.We had booked the Stingray trip for Grand Cayman last October but had to do the Eastern cruise becuse of Wilma being around. Would have no qualms doing that as would love to see them n the wild.

I am secretary of our local branch of the RSPCA (Royal Socieity for the Protection of Animals) similar I think to your humane society. It is all voluntary but we have to get involved with all sorts of strange situations and it keeps life interesting and sometimes very sad.

If anyone has a very rough idea of cost per person extra for the cat 3 would be very grateful but nevertheless still looking forward to next June.
Brenda

I don't know what the extra cost is off hand. We were debating booking two cat. 6's vs. 2 cat. 9's when we couldn't get the 3. The cat. 3 was significantly less than booking 2 category 6's, I do know that. Not that that helps! I bet if you call DCL they can help you!

Well Princess Jasmine, I am here if no-one else is.

Have had an email from Disney cruise Line clarifying the embarkation for our cruise so far.

They say and I quote.

Guests can embark the your cruise beginning approximately 1.0.p.m. Once guests have checked-in they will be permitted to debark in order to enjoy their day at this port. All guests must be onboard by 9.p.m.

Have written back and asked whattime the check in will be opening. Never too soon to sort things out.

We are booked on the June 16th Med Head Cruise. Looking forward to reviewing the shore excursions.

Hi All,

Hi Brenda.

Welcome Auntsue1. Are you touring before or after the cruise? Did you get your plane tickets as of yet? Are you staying in Barcelona the night before your cruise? If so, did you book your hotel with Disney?

Brenda, after the cruise, & we leave for LHR airport, is the airport far to the heart of London. I am still trying to figure out on which hotel to book on June 27th & I am really worried about how I am going to get from the airport to the hotel. I am thinking taxi or hoping the hotel I use, will have a shuttle bus. Any suggestions?

PrincessJasmine08, how are your plans coming? Did you book your air as of yet?

DD has started 6th grade today, "YEAH"

Have a good day everyone.

You can always book a hotel at the airport and take the train into London. I think Hilton has a hotel at LHR.

Checking back in! Hope everyone has had a nice summer. Only 9 months to go! So glad I'm not the only one who hasn't booked their air yet. I've been looking and Delta has had some nice fares, but I still can't decide on pre/post plans. Any info on when excursion info will be out?

We have a cat 3. I will try to figure out what the extra person cost would be and let you know what we paid (at least at the time we booked).

Anyone from Ohio out there? BIG weekend coming up in AUSTIN. Hook 'em!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Brenda, thanks for the info. It's good to know you're always here too! I totally agree, it is never too early to plan! I am happy to know we can get on the ship at 1, that will be nice. Let us know what you find out about when check-in opens!

Purtypat...I am still working on it! I contacted a TA about 2 weeks ago, maybe even a little longer. She was working on it for me but now all of a sudden I can't get ahold of her. I don't know what happened. Delta has flights for $1069 which I think sounds decent, so we might just book that since the TA disappeared.

If anyone knows anything about airfare, does $1069 sound about right?

LisaTex...I'm from Ohio, but I have no idea what the big weekend is. I'm guessing it has to do with sports but I am beyond clueless when it comes to sports!
