June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

Hay Brenda,

Just want to Congrat's you on your daughter :woohoo: how wonderful.

Jodie, I will PM you, and get your cell number. I would love to meet up with you in the parks. My husband is a lot of fun, would love to .

Lauren, I am so sorry about your Grandma. My Dad has hospice at his house. I am in full denial.
I will try to find Amanda, & if she's not there, I will leave her a pen (for old times sake)
We are booked on the Magic, next President's week 2009, would love for you to join us!!! Good luck with your test.

Hay Steph, how is Taylor doing? Was just looking at the girl's photo last eve.

So glad to hear from everybody.

Patricia

Lauren am so sorry about your Grandmother it is so hard but believe time is a healer although it probably does not seem like it now.

Dreadful weather here this week - have just had some icturs from my youngest daughter who lives in the Channel Islands and they caught the full force of the wind. They have very high tides there and with the wind they say this was 38ft so no wonder it flooded St. Helier and the seafront.

It was offshore wind here so we were very lucky this time as it was a combination of the high spring tides and the 80+ MPH winds that caused the problems.

We shall be in Orlando for christmas this year and wonder if anyone could recommend somewhere nice to eat on Christmas day - save cooking. Dont mind on or off Disney would welcome suggestions. Thought about AKL but dont know really.

Was just looking at restaurant reviews last night - Here are the ones with 4 1/2 stars . . .

California Grill (Contemporary)
Jiko (Animal Kingdom Lodge)
Victoria & Alberts (Grand Floridian) - 5 stars
Kimonos (Swan)
Citricos (Grand Floridian)

I haven't been to any of these, but Jeff Spencer said that the California Grill is his favorite - would be nice if you could see fireworks while you dine!!

Jodie

Lauren, sorry to hear about your grandma. It's hard to lose people. If your sister or you will be working may8/9 let me know. We'll try to catch up and say hi!
I won't be down there yet, but Amanda will be there. Do you and Taylor want to meet the real Ariel? ;) That could be arranged. You are going to have so much fun in Disney!!!!

Thanks. Hospice was so amazing. My grandma died at the actual Hospice, they didn't come to her home. The nurses there were so understanding and would explain everything to me in ways that I could understand. They were also just willing to sit with you and listen to your concerns or let you cry. They were willing to do anything for the family. I'm sorry to hear about your father. I'll keep him and you in my prayers.

If you and Jenna want to meet Ariel and give her a pen in person, just let me know!

Thanks, Brenda. It's hard to believe she's already been gone a month now.

What kind of place do you want for Christmas dinner? Casual or something nicer? You probably don't want to go into a park on Christmas day though. :scared: We'll be in Disney starting on December 21st this year.

I love love love California Grill!!! YUM! I would highly recommend it. They often do special dining events for the holidays with set price meals that are rather expensive though so I guess you could check into that. I didn't really care for Citricos but the rest of my family loved it. The food was too "fancy" for me. Jiko was really good and I loved the atmosphere, AKL at Christmas is so beautiful. Haven't tried the others.

Lauren...I am sure taylor would love to meet the real ariel. We will be in MK on thursday May 8th in the late afternoon early evening. We will be at WDW on May 8th and 9th so if your sister is working on either of those days let me know. She probably doesn't have her schedule yet, so just keep it in mind.

Pat...Taylor still asks if jenna is coming on this cruise with us! Too funny. Tell jenna we say hi!

Hi Everyone,

Just got back from a very crowed time in Disney World.

My family was picked by the "Dream Team" in AK & were treated to VIP rides.

We went to MGM, and while waiting for the shuttle, I ran into Pillow & family. What a small world. Good seeing you again Jodi. Wish we could have gotten together for dinner.

Lauren, tell Amanda I left her a pen, with the photograher "Will" Hope he gives it to her.

Steph, email me, I want to give you some tips.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Yes, how bizarre!!! Out of all those people, we were standing right next to each other at the shuttle!! Too funny! Wish we had more time to chat. It was fun seeing you guys! I hated to come home. It was 80 and sunny on the day we left. Yesterday it was 40 and raining here - ick!!

Hope everyone had a nice Easter. :goodvibes

I just spent al little time trying to catch up with everybody....

Jasmine sorry about your Grandmother!

Skallywag, we are also going to the Grand Californian Hotel (?right name) @ Disneyland. That will be my first time @ Disneyland! What an exciting time for you with the wedding!

Those who have stayed @ the Grand Californian is it worth it to go for the resort view rooms?

You all might have addressed this (I had laptop troubles for ahwile till I got a new one) but how is the Alaska trip going? We are still VERY interested!

Tay just let know about the plans. Still think of you when I look @ that cable car.

Love to you all,
Sue:)

California Adventure closes early, so I would ask for a room where you can see the fireworks. Plus they are doing construction right now, so you'll see alot of big machines. Hope that helps.
Also, storytellers breakfast buffet is pricey but goooood. I was just there last weekend...yummy. I also discovered the plaza inn (inside DL) breakfast buffet and that was good too. I hadn't done that before. I would also use the early entry and go STRAIGHT TO NEMO...if you want to do the submarine..otherwise you'll have over an hour wait. If you go in at 7am, you'll be able to clear out alot of the "popular" rides.
Hope that helps....glad you like the key chain!
Steph

Sue, we stayed at the Grand Californian once. We were using points and didn't want to spend them on a view. Our room overlooked the front of the hotel - nothing special. I think it depends on how much more it will cost to get the view. I agree with Steph - a view of the fireworks would be great! We loved the hotel by the way. It was great to be able to walk out the door and be in the downtown Disney area with great restaurants and such. Its so different than WDW where everything is so spread out and it takes a while to get anywhere. Have fun!

Steph, I admire your energy. I thought about you while we were at Disney . . . 4 parks in 2 days. I would turn into a mad woman if I did that. I can't wait to hear how that goes! I'm also really looking forward to reading your cruise blog.

Jodie

jodie...33 days until my craziness begins......I am not doing the pirate and princess party at MK. With the cost of tickets to WDW the thought of spending another 30-40pp ...yea no way! I'll save this for my pedicure on board.
Sue..when r u going to Disney?

Us too:cool1: . We leave for WDW the evening of the 8th. We're only going into EPCOT and DHS(Disney Hollywood Studios) on Friday. An artist is going to be at EPCOT and I'm bringing some prints of his in so I can get them personalized and autographed. We are really excited(I think I've mentioned that before) that we were able to get a reservation for the Panama Canal crossing:banana: . We have a Cat. 8 GTY and are looking daily to see if our cabin has been assigned. The waiting is unbearable. We've always asked for a specific cabin when making our previous reservations so this is new territory for us, but, we definately are hoping for an upgrade! Pixie dust please!:tink: :wizard: Hope everyone is well.

Vicki:flower3:

Thats right...vicki and I are cruising again. We're staying at the same place before...reliving the med!!

I look forward to seeing you again vicki...see you on the other thread...those peeps are crazy!

You've got that right! :scared1: I'm almost afraid to meet some of them! Afraid I won't be able to keep up with conversation:scared1: Not really, looking forward to meeting all!

Vicki:flower3:

Steph,

Do you have a Disney Visa? I called the 800# last eve & received the 5x Disney points for gas groceries, & airline tickets for the month of April.

I signed up, & received a $100.00 Disney dollars (which is the limit for the month) for charging airline tickets. :cool1:

For those of you that have a Disney Visa call.

They also had a promo where all you had to do was go to their credit card website and sign up online, and in turn they gave you a bonus 50 points (that was for existing card holders)!

Patricia, I thought the gas/grocery promo ended in March. Is it for the month of April as well? I can't find anything on the website about it.

Hi Jodie,

I called the 800# on the back of my card (last night) I spoke to an agent where he signed me up for the month of April. He said it was for grocery gas & airline tickets

I used to have the disney card, but was unhappy with the rate of return on points and the interest rate so I cancelled the card.
I use my hawaiian miles card for travel. Good thing that airline didn't fold. I plan on using my miles to go to hawaii when dvc opens their hawaii resort. ;)

Hello, Medheads.

Patricia and Jodie....I'm sorry I forgot to tell Amanda you guys were going to be in Disney. :guilty: It just totally slipped my mind! She did say she got her pen this time though! She says thanks.

I am so jealous of all of you getting ready to go to Disney, how exciting! :cheer2: And you guys going on the cruise in May must be super excited too!

I'm just trying to get everything in place for graduation, which is May 17. I have 2 upcoming job interviews. One is in Cleveland (5 hours North) and one is in Nashville (5 hours South). I'm a little nervous! After graduation we're going to go to my parents' vacation home in Florida since California didn't work out. Then, I'll head down to Orlando to work at Chef Mickey's for the summer. Will anyone be in Disney over the summer?

Hope everyone is doing well.

I stopped by the Grotto to see if she was there, but the line was LONG, and the man working the line didn't know if Amanda was there or not. We had a wonderful time, and I have a beautiful new pen now too!

Good luck with your interviews. Which city do you prefer? I bet housing in Nashville is lower. But then again, salaries probably are as well. Keep us posted. I know you'll do great! :thumbsup2
