Hi Everyone!

Princess Jasmine, I will be in Disney again this summer from July 18th - 23rd, staying at the boardwalk again. Would love to see you and Amanda if you have any time off from work.

Marie

We had a wonderful time, and I have a beautiful new pen now too!
Jodie

Laugh all you want about the pens. LOL

Last week while traveling home, my DD & I were in MCO airport. I gave the airline gate agent a pen & some body shop items. The agent was very grateful. To my surprise in yesterdays, mail were 2 plane tickets :thumbsup2

Now I have to plan another trip.

NO WAY!! Are you serious?? You really should be in sales! Magic pens!! Next time, can I watch you in action so that I can see how its done. Maybe I'll go buy some pens and give it a try. What are the body shop items? Can you use your plane tickets to fly down for your Feb cruise? Wish we could come too.

I am very serious!!!! We were quite shocked here yesterday, but very grateful. I just booked our airline tickets, last Tuesday for our 2/13/09 cruise.(3 days to late)

If you have a local Body Shop in your mall, ask for 2 samples everytime you go in. I save them for about a year, (I end up with about 25) then give them out to the CM's in Disney World, or while on the cruise, to the women on the ship. They absolutely love the Body shop creams.(so do I) Try the satsuma.

You crack me up. How the heck do you transport all these mini lotions and pens while you tour the parks? Is there some criteria a CM must meet before winning a lotion or pen, or do you just give them to anyone? I'm just picturing you roaming the park pulling pens out of your bra. :rotfl:

I'm not sure if we have Body Shop here?? I never shop. All our money gets spent on vacations!!

I love the satsuma. I have a ton of it. I am definately going to use your suggestions...BUT what kind of pens do you use?

I stopped by the Grotto to see if she was there, but the line was LONG, and the man working the line didn't know if Amanda was there or not. We had a wonderful time, and I have a beautiful new pen now too!

Good luck with your interviews. Which city do you prefer? I bet housing in Nashville is lower. But then again, salaries probably are as well. Keep us posted. I know you'll do great! :thumbsup2

Jodie
Thanks! I'll tell Amanda you were looking for her. ;) Right now I am leaning toward Nashville for several reasons. However, I haven't even actually seen either of the schools so that will be a huge part of it, if it goes that far.

Great! Remind me again closer to those dates. Not that I ever forget anything. :rolleyes1 We'd love to have dinner with you guys again, too. This time can we skip the torrential rainstorm though?

You crack me up!!!!! :rotfl: :lmao: I think you have a special talent. I don't think I would get free plane tickets even if I had pens. You must just be a natural! I just told my family that you got free plane tickets for pens and they were all laughing too but they weren't a bit surprised!

I think they must be pens made out of pure gold or something! :rotfl:

I have a good friend that went to college in Nashville, and she said it was WONDERFUL!

Hi Carol,

Our favorite dining spot in all of WDW is the Contemporary Grill. If possible, book it during the MK fireworks...they dim the lights and pipe in the music into the restaurant. Alternately, you can walk out onto the balcony and watch. Our favorite character meals were at the Grand Floridian and Crystal Palace. It really depends on the characters you want to see. The pontoon cruise would be a good option since the crowds will be big during the summer and finding a good viewing spot would be tougher without staking out the spot an hour or two in advance.

If you do one of the Disney water parks, go early. By late morning all the chairs are usually taken up and it's pretty packed. Blizzard Beach is my favorite park but tends to be busier because it's newer and has more thrilling attractions. Typhoon Lagoon is more laid back.

On tour plans, don't bother. The BEST thing you can do is get to the parks early...avoid them if possible in mid day (hot, humid) and then go back out in the evening. I personally also avoid the Early Entry parks, or if I go, I leave them by 11 am and go to another park. Ride the Fastpass attractions early, get Fastpasses as soon as your window opens up. Save the non-Fastpass attractions, especially the indoor air conditioned ones, for the hottest parts of the day. As an example, Hall of Presidents, American Adventure are great respites. :-)

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the advice. Maybe I will try and make us a reservation for the California Grill. I think that my kids will enjoy the Typhoon Lagoon water park. They are not quite into the thrill rides yet. I am still trying to talk DS who will 10 at the end July into going on some of the roller coasters with me. My DD might, she will be 7 next month and a little more daring than her brother. Keep the advice coming.

Carol

We've been there quite a lot as a family and I've always loved it. Plus, I think I want to be more south. The fact that I love country music surely won't hurt either!

I interviewed with a school in North Carolina that asked me to sign a contract on the spot. I told them I needed time to think. I also interviewed with a school in Virginia that offered me a contract on the spot but I ended up turning them down. It wasn't a good fit. I interviewed with 2 different schools in Nashville and one school in Louisville and all 3 of those schools are going to pay for me to come have a second interview. :yay:

Dont want to upset anyone but Tennessee was our favourite place in all of your lovely country that we have visited. We stayed at Gatlinburg and spent hours walking the National Park and then went to Fairfield Mountains and that was beautiful. We all spent a couple of nights in Nashville and of course did the Grand Old Opry (hope I have spelt it correct). We stayed at the Opryland Hotel (inside room of course) unbelievable.

It sounds like you have lots of options. Are these all Montesori schools? What type of schools are you interviewing with? Do you interview for a specific grade, or is it a general interview, and they just give you whats available?

I'm curious, where did you interview in Virginia? I'm just outside of Richmond in Goochland County. Also, where in NC? They Raleigh/Durham area in wonderful, and I understand the schools there are great as well.

Very exciting!!

Hi Brenda. Tennessee? We've been to Gatlinburg, but I felt it was way too touristy. I agree, the mountains are beautiful! Have you read A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson (think he resides in your neck of the woods actually)? Its one of my favorites - true story - very funny and well written. He and his buddy decide to hike the Appalachian trail (not hiker types). He talks about getting off the trail and stopping in Gatlinburg. It was hilarious! A very good read. I haven't been to Nashville; its on my list. Heard the Opryland hotel is wonderful.

Have you travelled out West? Colorado? Utah? California?

We're in Virginia. We love it here, but we're tired of the humid summers - would love to go West.

We've stayed at Opryland a few times as well. I just love it in Nashville. I have a good friend who lives there and I've visited her a few times. I think it might be a good fit for me.

Yes, these are all Montessori schools. Some are public and some are private. In Montessori we have combined classrooms. All 3-6 year olds are together, all 6-9 year olds, and all 9-12 year olds. I am a 6-9 major. That translates into grades 1-3. I will be certified to teach both a 6-9 class at a Montessori school and K-3 in traditional schools.

I interviewed for Portsmouth Public Schools in Virginia. I have to admit, I'm not even sure where exactly Portsmouth is! The North Carolina School is in Charlotte and it's also a public school.

HI Everyone!! It has been quite a while since we have talked to you! We are getting ready for the Mexican Riviera Cruise on 7/13/08. Stephanie, I saw where you were going on the Repo Cruise....You will have to give us all of the details! It doesn't seem like it has been a year since our Mediterranean cruise. Hopefully we will have no luggage crisis this time. Hope all of you are doing well.

Here is a question for you WDW veterans. Do you think my children, DS 10 and DD 7 would enjoy Disney Quest? Once inside do you have pay to play the games? I am trying to decide if I should get the park hopper water park option tickets. I was looking at the Maple Leaf tickets website. If we go to the water park and Disney Quest it is cheaper to get the water park option tickets. If we just go to the water park it is cheaper to just get the park hopper tickets and buy the water park ticket seperate. Thanks for any advice.

Hi carol,

Your 10 year old probably would but I think your 7 year old would be too young to appreciate most of what DQ has to offer. In fact, I think DQ is best for teens. There are some pretty cool family things to do as well.
