Hi
I am new to this so I hope I am in the right place, if I am not, someone please point me in the right direction. We are a family of 4 from Colorado going to Disney World on June 13 2005 then catching the Wonder Cruise on June 19th for 3 days. Is there anyone out there going to? I have lots of questions.

Hi Tammykva! I will be on the 3-night Wonder on June 16th. I am taking my younger brother for his 17th birthday present :) We went on a 3 night in October of 2003 so we are really excited to go again!

Hello dizneefreak29
That is a great birthday gift your giving he must be a pretty good little brother. This is our first cruise ever and we are all very excited, dont really know what to except. I been reading a few of the post here and getting a good idea of what to bring. Do you have any good tips or advice. I have one boy who is 9 and a girl who is 12. I really want to get her hair braided do you think it is worth it? What is the average price. Also what do you think of Nassau. We are not planning on any planned excursions we are thinking we will just hang out and explore the islands. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hello Everyone! I will be on the 6/16 Wonder along with my best friend and her daughter (8 years old) who is like a granddaughter to me. We go on an annual girls' weekend getaway and I decided to use my DVC points for this getaway. Looking forward to 6/16/05.

Jan

P.S. I started a 6/16/05 Wonder thread several months ago, but have not checked it for a while.

Nice to hear from you JanDav. Is this your first cruise? It is ours we just did the kids passports today so as you can imagine they are pretty pumped right now.

Jan--I was wondering where the thread disappeared to..??

Hi Shep
We will be staying at the Carrribean Beach, we will be there on June 13. We have never been to DW yet, boy is it Overwhelming with all the stuff to do, I am lost as to what to do first, what to see and where to eat. What do you think about excursions, are ya'll planning on doing any? I think we are just going to explore by ourselves our kids have never been out of the country so it will all be new to them.

Hi Tammykva--1st trip to DW?? :earseek:
Our first trip we tried a park a day and with fastpass we were able to do almost all the rides but then you might miss those little special things...
This trip we hope to do the things we may have missed/new things and maybe take it easy... :rotfl2:

There are a couple of excursions we hope to do...
On Castaway Cay i'd like to do a snorkeling trip & possibly tour Atlantis in Nassau...Also hope to schedule at character brakfast while at DW..Hopefully everything won't be booked...

btw--Welcome to the DIS.. :wave2:

Yes this will be our first trip to WDW. I am not so sure about the character breakfast my kids are 12 and 9 and most of the characters appear to be ones like cinderella, stich, goofy, so I am no sure sure they would like it. Is there any estaurant that you would recommend? We want to do two sit down dinners that would be someplace entertaining for the kids. I read the Epcot, Rainforest cafe, 50's Diner is good what do you suggest? Are you going to enroll your kids in the kids program on the cruise. I have read comments from people that say it is great, but I think they will want to to the exploring stuff with us.

Tammykva

We will be there! Me, DH and 2 boys ages 8 and 12. This will be our 5th Wonder cruise! I can not believe it, but I became an addict after the 1st one! Still have not done a 7 day though. We will be at OKW before the cruise, with about 20 of our closest relatives, who we are dumping...ahhem, I mean who we are sadly leaving behind....as we board the 6/16 Wonder Cruise! :teeth:

Hope to see you on the boat! :boat:

disneyelaine--what part of Ohio are you from? I am 20 minutes away from Cincinnati.. :wave2:

tammykva--can't recommend a dinner place..dinner is usually our time to eat junk food... :rolleyes1 ..Hope to do the Rainforest Cafe on this trip though..We'll probaly see what the kids want to do...They'll probaly sign up for a few things...

Hi Disneyelaine
Wow that a family reunion wish we could have ours at WDW. My kids are about the same age are you going to do excursions? I think we going to just bum around the ports and snorkel and explore. Are you going to enroll your kids in the cruise kids program. I am not sure if my kids would like that.

Hi Shep...your girls are cuties! We are about 60 min. North of Cincinnnati. You must live a short way across the bridge? We love taking the boys to the Newport Aquarium down that way!

Tammykva, I bet your kids will love the Kids Club on the cruise! Mine really do. They don't like eating dinner with us though. Cleaning up & sitting down to dinner is boring to them, so we will probably feed them early and have dinner by ourselves. Our youngest loves playing the BINGO on board. We spend most every evening there, but I think it is only an hour. My 12 yr old normally trys to meet a friend & play in the arcade in the evening or in the Kids Lab if they are doing something he finds fun. He feels so grown up to be able to go to Scoops and get Ice Cream, etc.. We take 2 way Radios to keep track of him.

We have only done 1 excursion in Nassau and that was the Nassau City Tour. It was interesting, but not enough to do again. We usually go to
Atlantis on our own. Sorry I do not know more about the excurisions.

On Castaway Cay we have snorkeled. Really fun! We also have rented bikes and that was fun too. This time I would really like to do the Jet Ski tour.

dizneefreak29 & JanDave, Just wanted to say that is so nice each of you are taking brother/friend & granddaughter on the cruise. They are lucky people to have you guys! Jan, we are DVC too! Not using points as we never have enough for a cruise.

Tammykva, Some restaurants at Disney that my kids have liked most are Ohana's in Polynesian Resort, Whispering Canyon at Wildnerness Lodge, Rainforest Cafe, and Coral Reef at Epcot because of the big fish tank.

disneyelaine--thanks..we had membership to the Newport aquarium the first couple years...Would love to go now & see the bird exhibit...You been to the zoo much? thats nice too...
I am trying to convince DW to do the Atlantis tour..
Coral Reef at epcot..?..sounds nice..do you need ressies or can you just walk in? I have a aquarium and we all love fish..

Have you ever used walkie talkies on the ship?
Would love to take them to use with the girls....

We had passes to Newport Aq. a few years ago too! We have only been to the zoo once, about 7 yrs ago.

Have you seen the pictures of Coral Reef at allearsnet.com? Click under Dining and then under pictures. You can see the huge aquarium there. People even scuba dive in that tank! It has a cool atmosphere. I don't know about walk in's there. I would make a reservation.

Yes we used the walkie talkies on the ship. It's really a neccessity if you ever have to split up on the ship. Like if I have to take one kid to the pool and husband is someplace else with other son. Also I have my 12 yr old use one so I can find him at any second. I freak if I am not able to have contact with him that way. Cell phones do not work on the ship. I do not let my 8 yr old have sign out priviledges on the ship, so he is always with one of us, if not in the Lab. I think at age 8, you get the choice. After age 10, it is automatic they can sign theirselves in/out of lab.

Not sure if I have been in Coral Reef or not...Might have to give it a shot..DW wants to have more sit down dinners on our next trip..

June can't get here quick enough... pirate:
