June 14, 2011 - Father's Day on the Wonder in ALASKA!

Hey everybody!

I'm looking into booking this cruise in the next couple of weeks. My family has a hard time picking a cruise because we all have different schedules, different interests, and different paychecks. As a bartender I'm always a bit on the low side. Plus, I'm going back to school next year to get a teaching credential. But if the family agrees this is the one, I will definitely save my pennies!

I just wanted to pop in and see what an Alaska cruise is all about and get to know you guys. Hope to have a room assignment by Christmas!

Welcome, Sarah! Should you decide to book this cruise and this week, we'll be glad to have you in the gang!

I took an Alaskan cruise very similar to this on HAL in 2006. You won't get a tan, but you will certainly get to see some beautiful scenery and wildlife. The excursions we took at these 3 ports of call were all memorable...and it's a bonus cruising with Disney any time! :thumbsup2

We now interrupt your regularly scheduled cruise discussion for this late breaking news:

Congratulations to the Cincinnati Bearcats on finishing with an undefeated 12-0 season! BCS game to be determined tomorrow evening.

:cheer2:

We now return you to your discussion, already in progress. :lmao:

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hey Drew!! How 'bout them Bearcats??? Are you still alive??? I would have had a heart attack by now, oh wait, I'm a Tiger fan and used to last minute finishes :lmao::lmao::rotfl::rotfl:

DH and I watched most of the UC/Pitt game - what a finish. I'm really happy for you guys!

And how 'bout 'Bama?? They really were the best team today. TTebow is such a cry baby  I will have to pull for 'Bama in the Championship game.

Hope everyone is doing well. We got back on Wednesday from a week at WDW. Great time, weather was great {it SNEAUXED here last night - how crazy is that??}. The only downer was DH strained his back. Cinderella's castle at MK decorated in the lights was the most awesome thing I've ever seen. I could stand and look at it for hours.

Any one done with their Christmas shopping???

It's good to hear from some people who have been on it before. I don't quite know what to expect. The only two cruises I have been on were both Mexican Riviera cruises. One in 2008 on Disney and one last month to Cabo on Royal Caribbean. I must say I preferred the Disney Cruise. It was two very different atmospheres. I certainly enjoyed the RC cruise, but the ship was mostly full of drinking, smoking, and gambling. Of the three, I only enjoy drinking! And not the extent that the majority seemed to be into. My mom and sister don't drink at all so we tend towards a more family-oriented cruise.

It was a rather good game. I saw it snowing down there on the weather the other day.

I got my shopping complete. Dad's B-day is December 8, so I got to take both out in one fell swoop.:thumbsup2

The big announcement is in less than an hour...but if everything holds true, looks like you might get to see the Bearcats at the Superdome against the Gators! I'm partial, of course...but I do think that Cincinnati has the offense to throw up there against the Gator D. Of course, Tebow will run all over us...

Glad you had a good time at WDW! Sorry to hear about DH's back, and hope it's better soon.

Sarah, we know just what you mean. I've often thought that DS (Smileneyesson) might prefer RCL because he's getting older. When I mention it, he sneers...only DCL for him!

Someone one here let it slip that today was your birthday - i hope it was a happy one and that you have many many more :cool1::cool1::thumbsup2

Thank you very much! Yes, had a great birthday...good day at work, and delicious dinner with my son at Outback. :thumbsup2 Thanks to Disney Cruise Line, he is not afraid to try different things, and so he had rack of lamb! Spending time with my son is the best present one could ask for!

to one and all :santa::santa::santa: !!

I hope everyone has a great holiday season. And not too much more snow for those in the frozen north!

I'll see you on the other side of the New Year!!

PS: Only 540 more days until we'll be Alaska bound :cheer2::cheer2:

Just a few more days and we can say we're going to Alaska "next year!" Hope you all have had happy holidays!

Hiya everyone! Can't believe it's been over a month since anyone posted in our thread! Happy 2010. And now we can officially say we're sailing Alaska NEXT YEAR! We got an Alaska visitor's guide in the mail this week.

Hope you all are well.

Hi, Cindy! Yep, it's amazing...felt like we had more time to post DURING the holiday season than immediately following. Doesn't make sense! :rotfl2:

I think we recently hit the "less than 500 days to go mark" (last week, perhaps?). Ahh, well...another day, another day closer to Alaska!

:surfweb:

Hi one and all: good to see some action on the boards again.

I checked my countdown counter and it is ~490 days until cruising time. I don't remember if I put the day we leave Vacouver or the day I thought we would leave BR. But it is less than 500 :cool1::cool1::boat::boat::tigger::tigger::tigger::mickeyjum:goofy:

I'm looking forward to the Olympics starting. Maybe we'll get to see some of Vancouver.

And can a girl get a little "high 5" action around here!

How 'bout them Saints :banana::banana::banana::worship::worship::woohoo::woohoo::dance3::cheer2::cheer2:

Folks around here are absolutely crazy about the big win last night in the Super Bowl. We watched at my cousins house and after the game sat in disbelief that the Saints had really won the game :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

All this Saints love has been really good in lots of ways for our state and especially for New Orleans. The victory may over shadow Mardi Gras next week.

Hope everyone has a good week and not too much snow where you are.

Congrats! We were rooting right along with you. 95 miles away from Indy, but we were hoping the Saints would win. :thumbsup2

As for us, we're up to our tushes in snow. It doesn't seem to stop!!! DS and I had a long weekend together for President's Day, and basically stayed inside and played video games...except to dig the car out, watching some dude skiing up the street (pulled by a 4WD vehicle). :rotfl2:

Hopefully it'll let off for a while. Matthew's birthday is on the 23rd. He'll be 17 (wow time flies). He's finally ready to learn how to drive. :scared1:  :scared1:

We've seen only a little bit of the Winter Olympics but it has been nice to see some of the Vancouver area. We are arriving two nights pre-cruise so we'll have a whole day and part of a day in Vancouver before we sail. When we did the Med in 2007, we flew in one day early to Barcelona and felt like we barely got to see anything what with some travel logistics and jet lag -- so we thought we needed to plan better for Alaska!
