June 14, 2011 - Father's Day on the Wonder in ALASKA!

GEAUX Bearcats !! I'll certainly try and catch a few plays tonight.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!!

Wow...they actually pulled it off! A little bit of a surprising win on the road! :cheer2:

Mary, the boys don't have to be embarrassed to use their FE gifts now. LOL

Janie, thanks for the support! Can't speak for my son (he's an Auburn fan), but I'll be screaming "Geaux Tigers" on the 24th! :thumbsup2

We are bailing on this cruise already! I just realized this week that my oldest nephew will be graduating from high school during this week. My sister would KILL me if I missed his graduation.:scared1:We are now booked on the June 21st departure instead. Have fun everyone! I am off to see if there is a thread for the June 21st departure.popcorn::

Sorry to hear, but am glad you're still going. Yes, there's a 6/21 thread already up and running. Enjoy your cruise!

Happy Weekend everyone :cool1::cool1::thumbsup2:thumbsup2:banana::banana::banana:

May whatever team you are rooting for win. I know The Tigers will win, just not sure if it is LSU Tigers or Auburn tigers. :confused3:confused3:confused3

A friend who is going on a July Disney cruise posted some excursions information on their thread. I think it is the July 5th cruise. Any hoo, she posted some info on the excursions Princess offers and thinks that Disney will probably offer similar items. For some of them, you may need to start saving those coins that jingle in your pocket :scared1:

Drew- how could you raise a son who pulls for Auburn :rotfl::rotfl:?? Maybe I'll try to convert him while we are on the cruise :woohoo:

Go Bearcats! Geaux Tigers!

Janie, sorry...it's not my fault! :rotfl2: My late father was a 'Bama fan, and my stepmother (from Huntsville) was an Auburn Tiger fan...made for interesting fall Saturdays. Matthew had a fun, competitive relationship with his "Papaw", and thus sided with "Mamaw". Now that he's getting older, he's learning to appreciate the "'Cats" in Cincinnati. We'll be at the game today. Oh, for what it's worth...I went with my mom to Gatlinburg/Dollywood this week. Saw almost as many LSU fans as Volunteers...in TN! :confused3

Thanks for the link to the thread. Wow...prices have certainly gone up since I was there 3 years ago. You're right, I better start saving...three excursions may add up to the amount of the cruise fare! :scared1:

We are just back from our first sailing with Royal Caribbean on Freedom of the Seas. I got some pictures of the Wonder both last Sunday and this Sunday as she was in port while we were. We were talking this morning about how the next time we'll see her will be in Vancouver!

So how was it to cruise with RC?? We've only cruised with Disney and don't have anything to compare it to. Where did you go? How are the cabins? and most importantly, how was the food??

Is the Wonder in dry dock??

Drew, thanks for the story of how Matthew got to be an Auburn fan. Sorry, well not really, that they lost last weekend. Cincy and LSU are right next to each other in the polls. {BTW, it sure is fun having someone to "talk" football with :rotfl::rotfl: Thanks!}

Hope everyone is having a great week. Just think, every week that goes by is one closer to our cruise :woohoo::woohoo:

Hi. RC was great - we enjoyed it as a cruise line and met some really nice folks. The food in the buffet was really good - we only ate in the main dining room once because we never found much on the menu's that we felt were worth the 1 1/2 hr dining experience (we checked the menu each day - one day they were serving pan-fried cauliflower cakes!). They had nearly all the main entree's and sides up in the buffet.

The Wonder was in dry dock - in fact, both the Magic and the Wonder were in port on Saturday before we sailed on Sunday.

Cabin-wise, DCL / RCCL were similar only the sleeping arrangements were not as conducive to our family as DCL is -- we had a comparable cabin on RCCL to what we normally get on DCL -- DCL has the drop down bunk but RCCL doesn't - the sofa sleeps two on RCCL. We ended up having the bed into twins for the boys while DH and I slept on the sofa which was ok but not as comfortable as the bed was.

thanks for the info Cindy - I see in your signature that you were at THV in September. How was your stay there? We have friends staying there the week of Thanksgiving {only about 4 weeks away :cool1::cool1::cool1:}. My DH and I are going to overlap our trip with theirs, staying at SSR. I'm anxious to check them out.

{I know this isn't about our cruise, but with it so far away, we've got to keep our thread alive and get to know our fellow cruise mates!}

Hi Janie. Gosh, I do need to update our sig line and add Alaska!

The Treehouse Villas were nice - we were only there for a weekend, as in arriving late on Friday and checking out early on Sunday - but we were there with our friend and her two daughters and another friend, so we had eight in the villa. We were not crowded or stepping on each other. If the weather had been cooler / less muggy, we would've enjoyed using the deck -- by Thanksgiving, it should be perfect. Our unit was near the bus stop at the front of the THV area so that was convenient, although you do have to transfer over at SSR. We would def. stay there again, but only if we could stay longer!

We are now awaiting word for when we can book the new DCL ship with our DVC points - we had planned to use points for the Alaska cruise but with several other factors involved, we decided to do cash for Alaska which meant we have DVC points we didn't anticipate having - so I told DH that since the new ship will sail from Port Canaveral and all that is involved for us with that is a hotel stay the night before, then we should use our points then!

We are gearing up to plan our Baltic cruise - working on the London portion now as we'll be there a few days prior to sailing. Then once that's settled and done, we'll be ready to fully focus on Alaska.

Sure hope we get some more DISers to join us!

Checking here!

I 'm recovering from galbladder removal surgery. Ouch! At least it's now & not on the cruise.

Our family roots Nebraska "Go Huskers!" & 2 of us also like Notre Dame. I can't say we're crazy fans though. The Fall is always way too busy 4 camping trips total thus far + many many other scouting events. My oldest Liam wants to be a Eagle Scout so he's working hard at his current 1st class level. My youngest has the most immature den (including my son). It takes 3 leaders to keep them moving as Weeblo I , w/ Scott & I both being leaders along w/ another Mom.

Has anyone had any ideas for a name for our group? I'm waiting on that or waiting for someone w/ technolical abilities to create a logo for us. I'd love to have our own custom group's AK countdown to AK. We've got some time....:lmao::rotfl:

What do you guys think about the Dream?
I'm impressed by the Aquaduck, Vibe, & Edge and otherwise holding off judgement until I see it finalized. I've got mixed emotions thus far. I don't know what I was expecting except maybe much larger pools.

Anybody signing up for the Dream tomorrow?

Having just come off the Freedom of the Seas, we're very excited about the Dream - looks like they will have some similarities, and we really didn't mind the bigger ship - we never felt crowded at all. We won't be booking right away, though, since we have the Baltic and Alaska already booked - but once we get the DVC points prices, we'll look at what we can do :) I'd pick a 5 night over a 3- or 4- because we agreed that it would be all about the ship being the destination, so we'd want to be aboard long enough to get to know her. We may wait and see what she picks up for her 2012 sailings when the Fantasy goes into service.

We're not booking the Dream either. We have three trips to WDW in the next year and then Alaska - that's about all the budget can hold right now. But I'll be watching/reading as others have experiences on her. The AquaDuck looks like loads of fun - even for big kids :banana::banana:

Mary: I'm not too good with making up names for the group. I'll think on it some and maybe I'll get inspired - :rotfl:

Drew, those Bearcats are doing great!! We just might meet up on some football field for a bowl game in january. I sure hope the Tigers can pull off the upset and down 'Bama. That sure would be sweet!

Happy November and Happy week to all. According to my countdown counter it is only 598 days!! {Give or take a few!}

Hi, all! Sorry, been away from the boards for a few days.

We're not going to be booking the Dream immediately either. We're considering a late summer 2011 trip on the Dream...but I want to see how things shake out before then. We're already locked in for the back-to-back Wonder cruises June of next year, plus Alaska. Also, it'd be nice to book the Dream on the Wonder in June for the OBC/discount.

I'm still working on a name as well...just not getting anywhere. One idea is trying to tie in "Snow Dogs" (particularly with the sleddog excursion). Another I had is to tie in the "Mighty Ducks" hockey movies (ice)...but I can't seem to put my finger on something catchy with either.

Janie, I'd LOVE to see LSU and UC in the Sugar Bowl...DS and I are debating bowl tix IF UC gets a BCS berth...but I'm sure the Tigers (and fans) would prefer that they run the table and maybe get the National Championship game. A longshot, but it could happen. ;)

Mary, I'm still working on getting Lettie and/or Jill to book with us...if you happen to talk to them, maybe a little "nudge" from you will get them onboard?! :thumbsup2

Just wanted to check in and see how all are doing. It's been awhile since anyone posted.

I was going to put up a "how-many-days" update, but the dvc web page is down :confused3 and that is where my cruise countdown is.

We're off to WDW next week {wish it was this week!}. Will arrive Wednesday before Thanksgiving and stay until Thursday of the following week.

Drew - a prediction in our local paper was Cincinnati vs Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Guess who I would be pulling for??? Geaux Bearcats :cheer2::cheer2:
We're just hoping to win out the last two games. It is doable, depending which team shows up. I was at the La Tech game. A fun time. I try to go to one game a year.

If I don't get back here for leaving next week,

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Enjoy your time with family and friends or where ever your plans find you.

Hey - thanks for checking in. We're doingw ell - just busy with school and work and upcoming holidays. We're going to WDW after New Years for a few days - just saw the Osbourne lights will still be up for a day after we arrive, so that means I don't have to try to figure out a quick weekend pre-Christmas (because I just didn't have one).

As much as I'd like to see the UC Bearcats in the National Championship, it'd take a minor miracle, pixie dust, and my left leg in trade. :rotfl2: I'm gonna hope we win out and make it to the Sugar Bowl. Matthew and I have discussed going if it happens...but it doesn't look too promising, since we have 3 cruises already on payment plan. :laughing: In the meantime, Geaux Tigers!!!

Enjoy WDW next week. The Grand Floridian should have the gingerbread house up by then! I'd love to do WDW during the holidays...will have to hold until at least 2011, I suspect.

For those who check in before then, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
