June 13 2010 5 Night Bahamas - Double Dip

Final draft of the FE list has been sent to all who're participating (the big change is the inclusion of princessCKL's particulars).

Four weeks from tomorrow...yes, our countdown is really in earnest now! :goodvibes

Wow...four days without a post...seems like we've been a quiet bunch. Does that mean that everyone is packing? :cool1:

haha! I am a schoolteacher and I have ssooo many end of the year "duties" to get done by the end of next week I cannot even begin to think about cruise things unfortunately! :headache:

Same going on in this house..........end of the school year busy! Once the kids are out it will only be a few days and it will be cruise time...........which means I need to get going on things we still need for the cruise.

Happy to say I finished up my FE gifts for the kids and hoping to get the adult gifts done this weekend.

Working on getting my magnets for the doors done this week.

Everyone has dressy clothes for formal night, it helps that we cruised last year, so somethings still fit! :) I agree with the other posters.........really anything goes on formal/dressy night....we even saw people in t-shirts:confused3 Any nice dress for woman and polo's for teenagers or dress shirt and tie and you will fit right in.

Still need to pick up sun lotions and other misc. things

On line check in is also done.

It feels good to cross things off on my to do list and exciting at the same time!

Happy Packing to all of you!

That's right, I forgot...we do have a few educators in our group, don't we? :thumbsup2

For those teachers in the group, please feel free to track down my teenage son at the DisMeet and offer him your words of encouragement. He has decided to major in Secondary Education and become a history teacher. :cool1: I couldn't be prouder!!!

Drew, It is a small world after all. My daughter is going to be a secondary history teacher. She swore she would never teach and then went back to college to become a teacher after working in the business world for many years.
On the other hand, I am finishing my 30th year as a kindergarten / first grade teacher. My daughter claims that the 5 and 6yr olds "scare her"

Just how many teachers are in our group and what level do you teach?

Hubby is having our house painted inside and out and new floors put in while my daughter and I are on the cruise. I am thrilled and grateful!

However I am simultaneously trying to end school, pack up my classroom for summer, pack up my house for painting and floor replacement, and pack for the cruise. :) Serenity Bay Here I Come

I'm very jealous you finish next week! We go until June 10th. I don't know if I will make it! I have a picture of Castaway on my desktop and that is what is helping me get through these last few weeks!

2 teachers in our stateroom!!

Sara teaches Kindergarten right now, but is moving back to 1st grade next year and I teach 3rd grade. We are both moving to a new school next year and have to pack up and store everything until the new buidling is completed.

Congratulations on 30 years of teaching! Especially in Kinder! I don't think I could do it!

Sorry, I must've confused you...not a teacher here...I manage a title insurance agency. :) I'm just very proud that Matthew has decided on that for his vocation.

We do, however, seem to have quite a few teachers among us...SaraDlug, DisneyJenn23, heatherlynn444, and now yourself (and I think I'm missing one or two others).

Also, congrats on 30 years! 5 and 6 year olds may scare your daughter, but I'm sure they look up to you...as I did my kindergarten and first grade teachers. :thumbsup2

Hmmm...painting a house, or Serenity Bay? :confused3 Nope, that's an EASY decision for me! :rotfl2:

Two optometrists here.... And two kids who will officially be in 6th and 3rd grade on June 10. That gives us a day and a half to pack after school gets out! Throw in a birthday party for the 3rd grader who will turn 8 on June 13 (embarkation day) and we're pretty busy right now!

bummer! when do you start though? we started the 10th of sugust this year1

:banana:What's your excitement level? It is 4 more days till I tell the children! I am so excited!!! I am ready to go into super packer mode. I have my crusin playlist going in the car. Our FE are done, magnets, check. I have gone a little OCD with the tee shirts. If you see a family matching everyday that will be us...eek! I noticed stateroom wise we are right next door to another FE diser! But we are trying for an upgrade at port! So that may or may not stay the same. Are you all getting ready??:cool1:

HA! I wish! I still have to go over to Houston to do some clothes shopping. :rotfl: We have been finishing things up for the "end of the year," my daughter's dance recital, son's baseball season, etc. School will end Wednesday (May 26) for the kiddos and Friday (May 28) for my hubby. I just left my job at my law firm Friday (May 21) to go back to school full time. So we have had a LOT going on around here. :lmao:

My hubby teaches 6th and 7th Texas History right now. He has taught all History classes for 6th-8th over the years. He's also a coach.

Has anyone worn the patch behind the ear for sea sickness?

I have worn it on a majority of my cruises. I stopped wearing it after my last 7 day cruise. For some reasons I ended up with a weird reaction and had to take it off. About 4 days into the cruise my vision became very blurry and I was unable to see close up. I have also found that it really dries me out and I end up losing my voice. I stick with Meclyzine and that seems to do the trick!

Sounds like you were using a scopolamine patch. Scopolamine is a cycloplegic. It is what eye docs use to dilate your eyes which also knocks out your ability to focus. There should have been warnings all over the package to make sure that you don't touch the patch and then touch your eyes. Dry mouth is another common side effect. Sorry you went through that.

I just bought a red straw hat and matching purse for the cruise. Hopefully it will fit in my suitcase.:rolleyes1

Assuming Disney Transport gets us to the port in time for the Meet, you will know me by my red straw hat :yay:
