I have NO idea what to do! We are booked for 4 days land at WDW before we go on the cruise. So we have that part down. My husband and I are trying to figure out which excursions we should do for CC and Nassau. Any suggestions????
This is our first
DCL, so we want to soak up as much as we can, but we also want it to be a relaxing, fun-filled Disney time as well.
Hmmm....well, this is one person's thoughts, based solely on our likes and our experiences.
In
Castaway Cay, we've done the stingray adventure and the "extreme getaway package" (the one that comes with bike, tube, and snorkel rental). We did the stingray excursion back in '05. Matthew was 12 then, and really enjoyed it. As long as the kids don't panic around the stingrays, I think they'd like that. Getting to feed the stingrays is quite an experience.
Personally, I don't like the snorkeling at CC. With all of the families in and out of the water, the sand gets kicked up a lot, reducing visibility. Also, I think the snorkel equipment gets a lot of use...for us, this meant that the goggles didn't hold as well as we would've liked. As we both try to snorkel once on the trip, that means we look to Nassau for our snorkel excursions.
With that said, our excursion experience in Nassau is probably limited. We've been there 3 times (2005, 2007, and 2008). In 2005, we did the "Blackbeard Cay snorkel and stingray adventure. Very nice, and we got plenty of time with both events. We did another snorkel excursion in 2007...can't remember which. In 2008, my mother went with us, so we just took a horse-drawn buggy and saw the sights in Nassau. It cost us $45 for about 45 minutes. Our cabbie was humorous and had plenty of the history down.
I've heard plenty of good things from other DisGang members about how nice the Atlantis excursion is. We've never really had the desire to do it, but I hear it's fun.
Nassau on land tends to get a bit hot, and wears us out...much like the heat/humidity of WDW in the summer. Unless you're doing something in Nassau that involves water, you may wish to be prepared for "Mom, can we go back to the ship?".
This probably doesn't answer all of your questions, but hopefully it helps.
