Hi! I'm Jen! I've been on a two Disney cruises, but this will be my first time on the Fantasy. My parents are taking me on a cruise as a college graduation gift! I've never really heard much about the Fish extenders before, but it sounds fun! What type of things would I need to bring?

Hi Jen!

Everyone does something different for the FE exchange. First thing you would need to bring is a fish extender. This usually takes the shape of a cloth 'hanging bag' that goes over the metal fish hanging on the wall outside of your cabin door. If you Google 'fish extender', you will see some examples. You can make your own or order one from a place like Etsy.

Then you would need to bring a gift for everyone in the exchange. Right now we're looking at having about 20 cabins in the exchange, so that would be about 20 gifts. The gifts can vary. Some of the common ones I see are candy, chapstick, tote bags/drink coolers, small toys, etc. It is nice if the gifts have a Disney and/or a vacation theme, but that's not necessary. At some point during the cruise (the exact time is up to you) you will deliver the gifts to all of the other cabins in the exchange. Since everyone delivers their gift at a different day/time, it works out that you'll be receiving 2-3 gifts per day. It's fun to come back to your cabin and see the surprises!

I was so busy yesterday and I fell into bed, forgetting about online check-in at 9 pm! But I did it first thing this morning. I had no problems, was able to get a 10:30 PAT, and there were multiple openings for Palo brunch and dinner, so I got everything I wanted!

Hope everyone else was able to get their reservations in as well!

I pulled late night duty for our family last night. Also got the 10:30 port arrival time we wanted plus Bippity Boppity Boutique and Royal Court tea for our daughter. No hiccups with the website using Google Chrome and latest version of windows. I did see all the C.C. cabanas are gone when silver club booking opens but the price would have kept me away regardless.

Hello everyone. Just joined this group. This will be our 2nd time on the Fantasy and our 3rd Disney cruise. We did the Western Caribbean in 2012 and we did Alaska in 2014. I can't believe the cruise is only 90 days away! We did the Fish Extenders on the Alaska trip and my daughter loved it.

Hello All - I never really have participated in forums since my wedding (a long time ago!) so bear with me! This is my family's first cruise ever and we are so excited!! I booked it when we were buried in 30 plus inches of snow and am just now getting on my planning so I know I am probably late to a lot of things as far as popular things but I am sure we will have fun regardless!!

Hi Mamahawk! Welcome back to DisBoards and to our roll call! I have added you to the FE list (see below).

Generally, people spend $1-$3 per cabin on a FE gift. I know that doesn't sound like much, but when you multiply that by 20-30 cabins, it adds up. If you wish to allocate your budget such that you give a gift to everyone in the cabin, you may do so, but most of the gifts I have seen are one per cabin.

I don't know of any restrictions, although size is certainly a consideration! You have to get the gifts to the ship, and the recipients have to bring them home (except for consumable items, which is why you will often see consumable items as gifts). The only courtesy is that it is nice if you include a card or sticker or something indicating who gave the gift. This is not mandatory, but it's always nice to know who gave you the wonderful present!
