My family and I are safe and sound... we are hunkered down in a suite at the Rio in Las Vegas. My DD, DGD and I decided to leave California on Tuesday to avoid the rush and panic that could happen in situations like this... but we got stuck just outside of LA. as the freeway was shut down in both directions. The winds were too strong... over 100 miles an hour and there were downed power lines and flipped over big rigs and fires, smoke, ash all over the freeway. We had to spend the night at a Sheraton in LA and from our window, we could see fires in all directions all around us! Luckily, the wind was blowing away from our location so we were safe there for the night. The next morning, the winds subsided to 35 mph and we hi-tailed it out of there and made it thru to Vegas. My DH, DS, and DM all followed that day along with our pets. We are all now in Las Vegas, waiting for the soot and ash to clear before we return home. So far, we hear that our homes are still there, although there are fires STILL burning not more than 5 miles away!... The important thing is that we are all safe and together. I can't imagine how I would get thru this if all of us had not been able to get out together. I thank GOD for that. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost their home and loved ones. My prayers go out to them.

So glad you and your Family (pets included) got out safe. This is so sad. I do agree with you, my hart and prayers go out to everyone in CA. This is so terrible. As I was reading what you wrote I got goose bumps all over. This is such devastation. Hope that this gets under control soon.

Has anyone heard from Huerita?... She was in Mexico when all the fires started up and was just returning on Monday in the middle of everything and couldn't return to her home so was going to stay in San Diego!... I hope and pray that she and everyone with her are OK and back home soon.

Ok... I talked to Huerita this morning... they are fine. She is home and says things there are ok except the air is terrible. Lots of "particles" floating around in the air, ash, soot, smoke smell and just plain yuck. They are being told to stay indoors and close up the house to keep out the yuckys. I think I'll stay in Vegas a little longer. Glad they are ok.

We're baaaaaaaaaaaaaack...!
Its good to be home... and to HAVE a home to come back to. My DH spent all day spraying down EVERYthing.... everything has soot all over it... the grass, the sidewalk, the front door... everything. I'm expecting children to start arriving again tomorrow so everything has to be clean or it will get tracked into the house! So that is how he spent the WHOLE day. He also went over to DD house and cleaned hers. But we are thankful and grateful to have homes. My heart and prayers go out to everyone that has been affected by this tragedy.

I agree with you my prayers go out to everyone that is effected by this tragety. I think what upsets me the most is that some one might have set this! That is so sad!

Love the costume. We only got one kid to are door. Now I stopped at my friends house and she must have gotten at least 60 kids while I was there.
Did you carve all the pumpkins. They look so nice. Looks like you had a grat day.

Now on to your favorate holiday? Christmas! mine to.

Just ONE kid at your house?!... we must have had 300! I ran out of 3 HUGE bags of candy! Our neighborhood gets herds of kids... they keep coming and coming long after you turn off your lights.
AND my pumpkins are fake...LOL
I use them every year and everyone believes they are real... did you notice that the middle one is a Mickey! That is my favorite one and EVERYone that sees it tries to buy it from me... I have to really keep an eye on it so it doesn't "walk" away during the night!

Yes, Mickey was the first one I noticed. I don't blame evyone for wanting it. You are brave for keeping it out on Halloween. 300 Kids that sure is allot. But I love to see the little ones all dressed up.
