June 1, 2008 7-Night Mexican Riviera Cruise All Aboard is now back on Land

We are not signed up for any excursions. We might decide to, but like you $125 x4 people just gets too pricey. We did this same Mexico/Disney in 05, and we loved it. We did some excursions in some ports, but I think this time, we are going to stay on the ship. My DH and 2-DS's they are not into the excursions, and I don't want to go off by myself, that doesn't sound fun. So If I hear of any of the ones some of you are doing, I may join in..
We couldn't decide between an Alaskan cruise, or Disney. My DH and boys, wanted to do Alaska, since we did Mexico before, but they wanted the Disney ship. My boys think the free soda's are the BEST. They will be 18 and 15 by then. Last time, they loved going to the movies and the stack. I like traveling, so I didn't mind Mexico, but my DD's aren't coming this trip, just boys and mom, so this trip will be different. But I still can't wait.
I am haven't gone back and read all the previous posts, about door signs, and parties, and things, so I guess I should go back and read all of this.
But it is coming soon, when I think I booked this last Jan. 07, and now we are almost to March 08. Wow, time flys.

minniemoms:

If you go to Page 66 post 660 you will find out the plans for the cruise.

I am looking forward to the me time when DS and DH are on the zip line excursion. I can walk around and look in the shops with out hearing are you done yet.

take care

Sandy,
DH want to kknow what you mean about the "The Mercedes truck ride out to the jungle canopy area was something of an experience to say the least. He goes is that good or bad. That is were DS and DH were going to do it. On that one I will be on the ship or walking around town. I do not want to do that. I will have me time.;)

If it is that hot in Mazatlan we will just take a walk around town.

Flo...
I've included some pictures... I hope this does not ruin it for your DH and DS... they WILL have fun... my comment about the truck ride is that it was wild, fast and the road was dirt, bumpy and on the edge of a mountainside.

Our Mercedes Transportation...

The road out there...
see how close we are to the edge of the hillside?!

My DSIL on the zipline.... about 90 feet in the air...
maybe more like 120 feet.

All in all... this was the MOST fun thing I have EVER done.... my DH and DSIL of course have done this many time in the Marines, but for me... it was a ONCE in a lifetime thing... I'm glad I did it. And like I said, the ride out there and back in the back of that truck was a VERY wild ride... we were glad that we booked the FIRST early morning excursion because as we were leaving, it was already sweltering hot. WE got all dusty in the back of the truck... that mixed with sweat... NOT a pretty sight.

minniemoms, I'm with you... if anything, we will get off just to do some quick shopping, I always need a few postcards for my scraping.
When did you go in 05?... we went on the first cruise out of LA.

Sandy:
We went on the first ever Mexico cruise? May?? The one with Ducky on board? Were you on that same one? We went with 4 of our 6 children and took my parents. WE have a wonderful time. My 2-dd's we did an excursion in PV, In Mazatlan, my DH 2-2s and 2 DD, did a tour through an outside source. It was nice, and we went shopping too. IN Cabo we went shopping on our own. It was nice I am so glad I did it, but honestly, I really don't care to go again, and my 3 boys, DH included, they DON'T want to get off the ship, so I probably won't go by myself.
We have struggled with this, we LOVE LOVE LOVE Disney, but we are in Category 8 for this cruise. I get emails all the time from other cruise companys. Found out we could do a minisuite, with a veranda to Alaska for less money than our NO veranda on Disney. That was on NCL. I have never done NCL., only Disney, and Celebrity. MY DH really wants a veranda, but we do love Disney, but we don't love Mexico, so..... It has been a struggle. Have you ever done NCL???

We have only ever cruised on DCL and I too have noticed that prices are WAY more reasonable on other cruise lines, but I have also heard from people that have gone on these cruises that there are ALOT of rowdy, drunken wild party goers... not that there is anything wrong with that... but this is why we prefer Disney, although my DD and DSIL want to do an Alaskan cruise also, so we have been tossing that idea around for awhile now... but ALL of us agree that we want to go back to Castaway Cay soon which would mean another trip to Florida and WDW.

:wave2: And YES, it sounds like we were on that same cruise as you, the first ever Disney cruise out of LA toward the end of May , I'm not sure of the dates right now as I'm not at my desk , (I'm on DH's computer) That was our FIRST cruise ever and we were thrilled to be on Disney and going out of LA... We were there to greet the Magic as it arrived that morning, we had green balloons tied on the dock, we had welcome signs, we were all dressed in lime green and we blowing air horns, waving, yelling, jumping up and down... we were your basic nightmare to the poor people sleeping in their boats on the water! ( we didn't realize that people actually slept in their boats until they started coming out to see what was all the ruckus) :headache: We had a great time, we enjoyed everything and meeting Ducky was the icing on our cake. But living so close to Mexico, we also are "bored" with Mexico and probably will not do much by way of excursions... we will be happy to just relax on the ship.

Sandy, I am so thankful that your son-in law made it home safely. God was with him. I had tears in my eyes too. I love our soldiers!!! My office mate has a clip on his computer where there are some soldiers walking through the airport, and people start standing up and clapping for them, and they smile and continue to humbly walk through the airport. that is how it should always be!! i am teary eyed right now thinking of it, if you pm me your email address i can send it to you.

Mendoza:

I had that clip on my computer to. I deleated by mistake. I do agree with you that is the way it should Always be! It never gets old for me. I got goose bumps every time I watched it. This is a great county and in part it is because of them.

Thank you, I appreciate everyones prayers for his safety...
and I've seen that clip too and it choked me up...
The night that my DSIL got home, they all marched in as a group and stood at attention before they were dismissed... it was so heart wrenching, I was a blubbering mess by the time he was dismissed. And then watching him and all the others run to embrace their families and meet their new babies, was way too much... I'm telling you, EVERYone was crying.

Sandy:
I haven't been following this very long, so I didn't know about your SIL, but I am also glad he is home safe.
Isn't that funny that we were on the same cruise before too. What are the chances of that. I know I met one time with a group of Dis-boarders, but I hadn't signed up in the beginning, so I didn't know any of you. If I remember right someone was passing out a book they had written??? We had a wonderful time last time, and I know we will have a great time this time too, I am just sorry we won't have the veranda.
I too, would like to go to CC again. That was my DH and my first cruise ever, Eastern Carribean, and we loved it. My DS 15 yr old, said, he would rather do the Carribean than Mexico again, but to fly all of us out there, and pay for the cruise?? WEll, unless we did it in Jan. and then we would have to take both boys out of school for a week, and they are both in sports, and they can't miss a week of sports either.
I have done an Alaskan Cruise 2 years in a row now, and I love going to Alaska. It is just beautiful. We have done 2 Celebrity cruises and I would recommend, them. They are very nice, and they aren't like some of the party cruises, where people get drunk. Very nice people on board.
I won't do Mexico again, except for Disney. However, I am willing to try another line to Alaska, HAL?? Princess? NCL??
On our last cruise, our table mates, the woman had been on 47 cruises, wow... Most of them had been with Celebrity. She said each line has some nice qualities, but she is such a frequent cruiser with X, that she almost everytime, gets to sit at the captains table. Wouldn't that be fun.
Another couple was on their 30th cruise. Most of theirs was on X too....
Well, I will be staying on the ship most of the time. I may get off for a short bit, but I think I would rather just relax....
Have a great day.
Judy

Just woundering! Is any one doingPalo?

We are going to do it on the first sea night?

flo
:surfweb:

We never do Palo....
no particular reason why... just don't...
:confused3

We never did either. But he last cruise we did. For one you have a great view. Also, the service and the food were great. So we thought we would try again. Last time my DS son was not 21 so I wanted to try now that he is.
They have the best pizza I have ever had that they gave us.

We opted to hit Palo and skip formal night as well. We got a 7pm seating. My husband is already dreaming of the chocolate soufflé! Yum!

As for excursions, we are doing the Dolphin Family Swim at Cabo. Nothing at Mazatlan. And the Canopy Ziplines at Puero Vallarta (booking non-Disney).

Anyone else book yet?

I am spending lots of my cruise in the Vista Spa... :cloud9:

:rolleyes1 JUST a REMINDER,....

Of the 16 DIS'rs that are signed up on this thread...
ONLY 6 have given room numbers to join in the activities....
Door Tag, Fish Extender Gifting, Post Card Exchange, Scrap Swap...etc

If you want to join in on the fun...
please PM me your room numbers so we will know where to "gift" and "tag" you
and how many people and ages are in the rooms to know what kind of "gifts" to leave
in the extenders and how many post cards to bring... we don't want any little ones to feel left out.

I am making up a DIS Navigator that will be issued out at the 3pm Scoop Meet.
Our names, and Room numbers will be on it...
