JUN 06 2007 Magic - 10 day Mediterranean ( READ INFO POST # 1 )

Well, any upgrades to report? I am out of town, so I don't have my docs yet. I am jealous of you all. It will be Monday afternoon before I will be back to the house, so I guess it will be a waiting game to look at all my paperwork. Can't believe we are two weeks away!! Yikes!!

How exciting!!

Pisa tower tickets, done
Academy tickets, done
Uffizi tickets, sold out!! oh well.....we all wanted to see David anyway....

Still waiting on vatican tour confirmations...anyone else waiting???? We are wanting to do the scavi tour, and/or a tour of vatican museums. We have submitted all the faxes, etc and I guess we just wait?????? I emailed again today just to see if they could give me any idea on how this process works for scavi tour. Is anyone else doing this???? On my other selection, they say fax them confirmation 7 days before the tour or else they cancel reservation. What does that mean??? We have a tour or not???? On the academy tickets and the pisa tower tickets, just as vague, but we now have confirmation on those two, and are on a wait list for uffizi. More i think about it though, really, I am ok without seeing uffizi!

Ok, so trying to study, get things ready for trip, for williams 7 week summer camp, and study some more. I can not concentrate for one second, ugh, darn this trip!!!

If anyone has experience with vatican museum reservations, please let me know!!!

And on monte carlo, is anyone interested in doing a group thing to the casino in the evening?? Doing the train/bus over there!???? Just curious....

Thanks all
Sharolyn

Kevin & Brenda would be interested in Monte Carlo. Any idea how far from the ship it is? Isn't that where James Bond hangs out?? I wonder if it is more "high class" than Vegas.

Ok everyone - looking at the number of posts we have all made we seem to be a group of relative newbies . Although we have cruised with Dis a few times before we have never joined in with the Disboarders onboard but I gather from looking at other cruise threads some Disers leave gifts for each other outside the rooms on the fish hook. I'm all for this :cool1: but just trying to work out the logistics of it . Do we just wander the ship looking for door signs ( in which case I'd better make one :rotfl: ) looking at the list on page 1 there seem to be around 25 'groups' :scared1: ...... some larger than others ....... you know who you are :dance3: . For those at the bottom of the list could you give us a clue to the number of people in your cabin.

Just one more thing to add to the list of things to do !!!!!!

Thanks

Rachel :goodvibes

How about one gift per room? If you add all the people up :teacher: that's a lot of people (and a lot luggage space). Not sure about the logistics...

grizbuzz , that's the idea I was going with . Something small and not too expensive as we will all need our $, £, e, in 2 weeks time !!:cool1:

Still no docs yet !!!!! :sad2:

Iwish I had room for gifts, we are traveling w/ only one 20" carry on each!!! Dont know how I am going to make it with that little amount of clothes and shoes !!!! I will try to bring at least a magnet or similar..pirate:

We also do not have docs, but they are coming from the TA who has been out of town for the last 2 weeks! not much service during that time!!!!:headache:

Well, we are still thinking about what we are doing. i have contacted a private tour company mainly to get us to Florence and Pisa. Well in the talks with them, I went ahead and asked about Rome and Naples, and Barcelona and Monte Carlo. I am actually leaning towards the private tour company for all the ports. It ends up being about 50 - 80 euros per person depending on the port, but they pick us up at port and drop us back there, there is no hassle with trying to catch busses, trains, etc. Anyway, if anyone is interested, let me know, the more the cheaper it is for all. They have a bus that can hold 50 people!!! I was adding up the costs and yes, this is more than doing it on your own in Rome, but for the other ports it is a wash. I am really excited because in Naples we are doing the Amalfie coast, going to pompeii, and the kids (all hundred of them, hahahaha, are climbing Mt.Vestivius as part of our deal.) That tour for 23 of us is going to cost 65 euros a piece. On Rome we are wanting to do the Vatican and the older sites, and for a 10 - 12 hour tour with a guide taking us all around Rome, it is looking like it will be about 60 euros a piece. In Florence, we are wanting to do the Uffizi and the Academy - then on to Pisa to see the leaning tour of Pisa. That one is also about 70 - 80 euros including museum entrance fees and leaning tower fee. In Monte Carlo, we are looking at about 30 - 40 euros to go to the casino at night, leaving the boat around 7ish and returning around 11:15ish. anyway, I was excited thinking about catching the trains, but when i realized that it does not work in florence - the train gets you in to late to really enjoy Florence, I went to looking at the tour company. You can check them out at travels with friends dot com

email me or pm me with any questions.

I have a. . . I think stupid question but my DH asked me and I don't knew it!!!

Is the charging inside the ship going to be in EUROS or in US Dollars? (for example the stores, the drinks. . .)

The Johnsons, Kevin 41, Brenda 44, Miranda 14 and Travis 11 are from Fort Worth Texas!

Jen (37), John (37), Max (4) and Nicholas (2) are from the San Francisco East Bay in California.

The Alonsos: Rafael (42), Debbie (35), Danny (12), and Andres (10) are from Miami, Florida.

Not a stupid ? :)

Everything charged on board the ship will be in US dollars, including drinks, stores and excursions, they will put it on your account and you pay by cash or credit at the end of the cruise. Anything you do off the ship expect Euros...

We're from Chicago.

I don't know about the gifts, just because of the limited suitcase space and the fact that many of us are going to be traveling before and after, however if people want to do it i am sure we can find something small to bring for everyone.... what is usually done?

Other threads were talking about nametags, lanyards, candy(for a group movie night), wine (for a wine tasting party), rubber ingraved bracelets, magnets & postcards, I am thinking the the smaller the better if anything.... (bandaids might be a good idea with all the walking we are going to be doing) .....

 We are from Tulsa...

pjtulsa, thank you!! I have been in the ship before but for some reason he thought it was going to be everything in euros. . .

The majority of our group is from houston, we have a couple from LA and one from Las Vegas.

On the tours, we are booked now, and really have no more room. On Monte Carlo, since we are doing this on our own, anyone is free to join. We can discuss details at our meet and great on Thursday at 1. We are also doing things on our own in all the ports BUT Naples, Rome and Florence...hopefully we can exchange ideas and work this out onboard.

:cheer2:

:dance3: Yes Yes Yes :dance3:

We have docs !!! Now if we have them surely you must have them as we are from the UK ( think most of you know that by now !!:rotfl: )

I have sorted small gifts - please do not get excited in any way ! It's more of a token gesture thing I think and the buzz of coming back to your room to find stuff !

Next question - do we all walk around looking for Disers rooms so getting exercise and allowing us to eat even more food or do we declare cabin numbers ...... and promise not to knock on each others doors as we may be 'resting':goodvibes . !!!

Ahh bliss - I have docs !:woohoo:
