I forgot to tell ya'll something.....I had an online chat with Disney yesterday and asked several questions about the CBR, AOA and possible May/June discounts.
Here's the part of the conversation pertaining to possible May/June discounts:
you: We are currently looking at booking a Disney vacation package. Our travel dates would be May 23rd through June 2,2012. This past May, we were able to take advantage of the free dining promotion. This saved us a ton of money and allowed us to stay on property for more days. Do you have any idea when or if Disney will have any promotions that will cover my 2012 travel dates?
Laurence: We do not have any offers for that time as of yet, however new offers are posted quite frequently. I would recommend checking back with us periodically. That being said, if you reserve and an offer comes out for your dates, we can still apply it to your reservation as long as the offer is for your travel dates. Currently the free dining promotion runs through the end of March, 2012. We have not been told if it will be extended, but I would recommend checking back with us.
you: I would hope that if they were to offer something it would come out soon. I really need a good offer so that we can extend our stay again. Believe me, the money we would save would go towards Disney merchandise so Disney would still be getting our money.
Laurence: I understand. Well it should not be long before offers are posted for that time of year, but we do not have any quite yet.
you: I am definitely not going to hold you to a specific date or your feet to the fire but.......do you have any idea how long is "should not be long"?
Laurence: I would recommend checking back in 3-4 weeks, as that has been the norm lately as far as new offers coming out. As we are up to the end of March currently, offers for the next quarter (Apr-Jun) should be coming next.
you: Ahh, I would love to see them come out in within that time frame. I wish they would go ahead and release them as early as they did last year but I can live with 3 to 4 weeks. HA!
Laurence: Well I would definitely check back with us around that time.
Here's the part of the conversation about the CBR:
you: Okay, question number 2. I know that Port Orleans is currenty undergoing a refurb and that they are getting queen beds. That makes the Caribbean Beach Resort the only moderate resort with full size beds. Any word on whether or not the CBR will be getting queen beds any time soon. My son would love it if he didn't have to share a full size bed with one of us.
Laurence: They are next on the upgrade list, and all we have been told is they will be complete by the end of 2012. We have not been given a time frame on when the changeover will start as of yet.
you: That's where we were planning on staying. Wonder if they will have any rooms done by the end of May.
Laurence: I would say it is possible, as it is close to the middle of the year, but as of now no word on when they will start. If it is something that may only take a month or two, then it may not be underway by May.
you: I'll just keep my fingers crossed that they get a move on and we have queens when we go.
Here's the part of the conversation about AOA:
you: I think this is the last question. Our friends are thinking of staying at the new Art of Animation resort. When will the standard rooms be available. Well, I guess this isn't really the last question but multiple questions about AOA. Will the AOA share buses with Pop? Will they have one bus stop like the other values? Believe it or not, the one line/uncovered bus stops are a big drawback for us.
Laurence: Ok, here come several answers. (smile) Phase 1 of Disney's Art of Animation Resort consists of the family suites in the Finding Nemo Section. The opening date for Phase 1 of Disney's Art of Animation Resort is May 31, 2012. We have not been given opening dates for the other phases, but the standard room in The Little Mermaid section will be the last phase to open (phase 4) and those will be open by December 31, 2012. As for Busses, Disney's Art of Animation Resort will have its own stops, and its own busses. It will not share busses with Disney's Pop Century Resort.
you: Thanks for the information. I'll pass along the information to my friends.
And the question regarding the new refillable mugs:
you: I'll just keep my fingers crossed that they get a move on and we have queens when we go. Let's move on to question number 3. I know that All Stars Sports is trying out the new chip thingie (yes, that's a word here in Louisiana) in the refillable mugs. Are they going to do this with every resort? I only ask because if we purchase the dining plan, then we will each have a refillable mug with our package. Just wondering when the change will take place, if at all.
Laurence: It is still a pilot program at the moment, so no word on if it will be expanded or simply end, until the powers that be analyze the pilot program.
you: I, personally, thing it's a good program. Will keep tons of folks that are using non-Disney mugs in the food courts. I couldn't believe the number of people doing that when we were last there.
Laurence: I agree. Unfortunately everything cannot be monitored all of the time, but they are working on ways to help in those areas.
I think I'm going to do another online chat and ask about the progress of the new Fantasyland. If I am remembering correctly somebody said they heard that some of it will be open during 2012. Is there anything ya'll want me to ask while I'm chatting?
