July vs. August

How do crowds compare in mid-July (well past the fourth) vs. early August?
How about the weather?

When we got there this year our town car driver said the week before the crowds had been really light (last week of July). We're not looking at quite that late in July (mostly because you can't even search plane tickets yet for them), but right in the middle of July...lots worse, worse, same, better, lots better?

I looked at two different websites that predict crowd levels at WDW. Both of them show equally large crowds for both the last half of July and the first half of August, so no difference there. As for the weather, both months will be extremely hot and humid also. The only difference in times of going would be that the Brazilian tour groups tend to visit in July, if you want to avoid them.

Who can really predict crowds? July & August are probably equal with numbers of people and wait times.

We went July 29 - Aug 7. It was pretty crowded and VERY HOT. My husband said he'll never go during that time again. If you go early in the morning, it's better. The water parks were really bad.

I honestly think that the Free Dining promotion messed up the predicted crowd levels that you can find on certain Disney websites. We got there August 9th and it was SOOO less crowded than I expected. Then as soon as free dining hit the crowds really picked up. It's so hard to determine when there are promotions like that. I think this year, the closer you got to free dining the less crowded it will be because people pushed their trips back to get it. My theory is expect the worse and hope for the best when you're traveling there in the summer months.

Summer 2006 July 11-18
Summer 2005 around Aug 20-25

Both years were hot, but late August the parks seemed less crowded. We were ok with days at TL and BB as well os the OKW pool.
