July trippers: anybody book their flights yet???

My friend(she used to work for American airlines) told me it is way too early to buy ticketsfor July(actually,the end of June) because the airlines will change their
schedules many times before I actually fly! She keeps telling me to wait,but I'm getting anxious to just buy them! She also said that Flights out of Boston will be lower because of Jet Blue and competition. I HATE WAITING!!!!!

It all depends on if you find a "good price". We booked our June 26th trip 2 months ago via US AIR. The price was $190 for a non -stop Pittsburgh to Orlando, with good times.

Yes the airlines have a right to change flights and times. We have always booked at least 6 months out and , and have been lucky that our times and flights have never been affected.
We also needed 7 tickets at that price ($190).....so that was to good to pass up.

I use frequent flier miles to book our trips. In order to be able to get decent flights with 4 available seats, I have to book as early as possible. Our July flights were booked in August. I think that the going rate for PHL to MCO was $203 with taxes at that time.

Our trip is the end of July next year and I have been watching the
rates for a while now. The best I have seen from Phila to Orlando is 206.50 but the flight to Orlando is not until 12:00 in the aftenoon and I really would l ike an earlier flight so I will keep watching a bit longer.
Generally as soon as I see the flight time I want in the general price I am looking for I book it. I have been pretty lucky with USAir the flight changes that they have made were not that dramatic.
I like to keep an eye on AirTran as well, but they do not have their flight schedule for the end of July yet. I hope to make my reservations by the end of January beginning of Feb.

We usually wait until January or February to get tickets for July. We almost always get a great price.
