What kind of discounted rates does everybody have for July or early August? I usually stay one or two nights onsite in order to have Express access but the rates are very high this Summer. The discounts are not very deep at all until after August 15th. Even the Entertainment rates are high. I can usually book a room with a weeks notice and get amazing rates. Were the discounts this poor last summer? I don't remember because I had like five 50% off vouchers from renewing annual passes and used them all throughout the summer. I was getting RPR club for $150 and HRH club for $165. Any help would be appreciated.

I know what you're saying RyGuy. We originally planned to go beginning of August but the rates were just too high, even the Entertainment rate and we needed two rooms. We were flexible in our vacation time so we chose August 21-25 when the ER came down to $119. We are paying $156 for the one Saturday night Aug 21 though. I think that the rates have been much higher this year than they have in the past. I'm pretty sure we paid $119 for the 4th of July week last year, I don't think the rates are even close to that this summer. Oh, I am talking about the Royal Pacific Resort.

I could have had RPR club for $223 w/AP but chose the AAA rate of $255 because I wanted our 10 nights (July 19-28th) to count towards Loew's "qualified" stay. I also booked my mom in a reg stand. room for July 21st- 23rd at $280+ (w/tax incl) I booked my own family's 10 night stay way back in March and just recently added my mom's room. I guess I'm lucky I booked ours when I did. I tried to get mom on club level with us, but it would've been $319 plus tax per night!! I liked club level last July....but no way would I pay that price for it!!

OH MY GOSH!!! I haven't been paying attention when I posted recently. I just looked at my countdown clock.....YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to give you an example of how rates can change over time, even a pretty short time ... I've been planning a trip to Universal with a July 4 - 6 hotel stay for about six weeks now (I know that's not very long compared to most folks on this board, but for me, that's about as far in advance as I ever plan one of these trips) ... I kept putting off the hotel reservations ... when I started RPR was $175/night with AAA and PBH was $188/night with APH ... the rates have fluctuated and both the RPR and HRH have alternated between being available and sold out, the HRH never having any discounted rooms though, so I never really considered it ... the PBH's annual pass rate dropped as low as $181/night but then the less expensive rooms started selling out. Finally this morning I decided with 5 days left before our arrival I would go ahead and book a Bay View at the PBH for the $202/night that was there yesterday with APH. Of course, when I go to check online today that rate is now gone, the cheapest rate is $216/night (with 2 queens, I want 1 king) and the cheapest king room is $258/night for Club level. Well, figured I'd be booking AAA at the RPR for $197/night (both AAA and APH were $197/night yesterday, and I'll take AAA since you can still get Loews benefits) ... but I checked the APH first ... $139/night!!! ... naturally I jumped all over that rate and have finally booked my room.

Beckles- Thanks for the info. Just lowered my APH rate for the RPR from 153.00 to 139.00. Staying July 16-20. Again thanks.
Have to love these boards!

When you are talking about these rates, how many people are you including in your room? We are paying AAA $255 a night for 4 adults in a PBH Garden room. Same date frame July 16 -18. I would love to get that rate down.

Beckles,

Thanks so much for the info on the APH discount. I had checked APH rates online only a few days ago and they were awful. We are thinking about July 5th for one night and $139 is just what I was looking for. Today, I am waiting to hear from my "hook up" at HRH to see if he can get me a better rate but if not I am going for RPR at $139. Thanks again for the heads up. If you have any questions about room locations or whatnot at RPR feel free to ask.

Thank you so much from me as well! I had booked the PBH CL for APH rate of $258 per night. Then the RPH for $159. Now I have RPH reserved for $139 per night! Thanks so much for the heads up!

Just saw this post and called to change my hotel and rate!!!:jester: I am doing the one day deal just for the express passes. Went from $ 181 down to $ 139 APH. I am so happy!

Thanks Beckles!
I just called and changed my RPR rate from $164 to $139. We booked back in April and I never would have thought the rates would have gone down. Awesome!

Okay.. i just changed my rate from the FAN club rate of 164 to the AP rate of 139 also.. Thanks!! :) Except I will be picking up my AP when I get to the parks.. just like I do at Disney.. now I know Disney has in 10 years NEVER asked to see my pass... I truly am an AP holder.. and some years I just don';t have the pass in my hand.. only my voucher which I activate when I get to the parks... as this is my first time staying on property at Universal... is it the same here? or do I need to go activate my AP before checking in? I am sure this question has been asked before.. but I am SURE not quite as eloquently as I.. LOL!! So.. please indulge me.. those who know!

Kathy

Kathy, I also purchased my APs online and will have to go through the same stuff you will. I have received several different answers to the same question when I called RPR. One answer even had me dragging all my luggage (family of 4, 10 nights worth) to the park in order to get my voucher exhanged for an actual card BEFORE I would be able to check in!! Supposedly RPR would not even hold our luggage while we did this! Another call and the person couldn't believe I was told such silly info! Reading these boards leads me to believe that I (and you) will be able to check-in with just the voucher and just bring the pass back for verification. We stayed at RPR last July and only encountered very helpful, friendly people. I can't imagine having any type of problem with these online AP vouchers. Guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks!
