July or August?

Sorry for yet another Date question thread but we're reasonably new to sticking to school holidays so wondered what others feel.

We have always gone in May or September before but went for a second trip this year in August which we absolutely loved but were blessed with brilliant weather with only one day of sporadic rain.

Realising we got lucky with August I wondered how different July was? We went for the end of August so it was pretty quiet most days and rarely had to queue for long, how is July?

Rather than two trips next year we're going for one so it could be up to 4 weeks. Is July consistently busy or would we get two weeks of crowds and two weeks quiet for example? Is the weather really any better than August? We don't mind the heat to be honest.

July will be busier than the end of August. The end of Augustthe US schools have started to go back - they are all off in July as the finishe middle of June.

Weather is the same July and August.

Thanks, I knew the weeks around the 4th is likely to be horrendous and it would be by no means quiet but is it bearable? We'll have a 5 and a 3 year old so although heat and crowds don't bother them, they do like most rides and dislike queuing unless carried!

We have usually visited the last few weeks in August, but this year we arrived at the end of July and TBH didn't find the parks as busy as we had expected.

Our final week (7th to 14th August) was noticeably quieter in Disney than the previous week, due I suspect to the restart of the US academic year. I suspect you would find that the crowds would lessen slightly more towards the end of August.

I've been twice in July - from the start right to the end- and found them MUCH busier than the end of August.

In July, we spent all day queuing - and using the fastpass system - but in August we were walking straight on to the rides. We used 1 fastpass the entire 14 days.

I doubt we'll be going July again

Also remember that in July you get all the school groups making it very busy.

Thanks all, I thought as much but best to hear from people who've been.

It's just a shame the villa we want is available July not August.

Certainly not going to change dates for the sake of one villa though!

I am so pleased this was posted as we are also experiencing the "joy" of only being able to go in school holidays. We were toying with the end of August which sounds OK.

From what I hear from friends, July is always so so busy and massive waits for all rides etc, We normally go in May but now restricted to school holidays for our D/D

We have opted for last week August / First week sept next year hoping it will be ok....

That's when we went this year and it was brilliant. Some days it felt like we had the park pretty much to ourselves for the first hour in the morning it was that quiet.

I struggle with the heat so we decided never to go in summer again, even though with school holidays it's the most convenient time to go.
We have been late August and crowds were not bad at all.

I do disagree slightly with what was said earlier about there being no difference in the weather, July is unbearable, I remember we were in a mall talking to a shop assistant in August and we were saying how hot it was, he said it was nothing compared to the previous month , even the locals find July difficult to deal with.
Plus the added crowds make it the worst month to go.

Yes i have heard that before also, Got a few friends in the US they always avoid DW at that time too....
