July- Fitness Independence for Hakuna Matata!

Another great stage of the Tour, powerful sprint to the finish, amazing.

Will be watching the repays during the week.

Dave our pups never stop sheding.

Good Morning All

Mark and I were a bit late this morning for 4 miles. We were tempted to do the new 5 miler that Miranda worked out but it was HOT by the time we were almost done 4 and I was started to overheat. So we kept it at 4.

We are taking a day to do some laundry, Mark is washing the car and Nick helping create some DVD's for us. I will sit back and wait for the rest of the crew to finish and do some hand sewing. Bliss!

Have a great day all, I have an extended weekend, we took Monday as a vacation day. Will try to do that 5 miler then - only early in the morning since it's suppose to get hotter this week.

Eva, the Dirty Diaper Game we played - they used candy bars like Snickers, Three Musketeers, Butterfinger, etc - smeared it on a diaper (it looked realistic too) and you had to smell-guess what it was. :lmao:

:hippie: Thanks, I think! :goodvibes Hope the new shoes fix your toe discomfort!

Rest Day if you can call sealing the deck in HOT, full sun, 86 degrees, a rest. Still have the gazebo to do :rolleyes1

Good evening team!

It was a lazy weekend, we did some little chores, I took dogs out for the paper each morning, for 1.27 miles! Tomorrow I will have to get back into the longer walks. My job for the week will be to sand the dry wall in the basement - we did not even touch it this weekend! When I finish sanding, Scott can mud it again, then I will get to sand again! If we get it textured by the 20th, I might get it painted before we leave for vacation.

Today was cooler than it has been, it was cloudy all day, the air conditioner did not go on all day, and I never had to close up the house.

Have a good evening!

The party was great and yes Margie, that's the game we played. People were eating it and everything. Soooo gross...but fun!! I do have a heck of a mess to clean up today on top of my 9 mile LR. It's humid already and not so cool out considering it's 6:30, but the hourly forecast says that it won't break into the 80's till after 10:00. I better get my butt out there!

Hope you guys all have a great day and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!!! :drinking:

Good morning Eva and the rest of the Team.

Erica and I are preparing for a 9 mile walk ourselves. This will be Erica's longest walk since the Goofy last January.

I hope my new shoes arrive today but it will probably be wed. I'm hoping the new Mizuno Precision will be my LSD and general trainer and the bright blue revolvers will be my short fast race shoes.

Ok time to get ready and get on the road before the rain gets here today.

Have an awesome day and walk/run strong.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Eva, glad you enjoyed the game - it is hilarious!

:hippie: hope you and Erica have a great 9-miler :thumbsup2

Lynn, I am so glad you are human and took a weekend off...Geez, I was starting to feel like a slug! :upsidedow

Connie, I will PM our miles & times tonight. Hope your fishing trip was Fantastic! :cool2:

Did an early 4.5 mile walk. at 6:30am is was in the 70's with high humidity, but that still way-way easier than in the 80's - full sun or thunderstorms that they are forecasting this afternoon.

Need to get out there an try to get a little sealant on the gazebo before the rain starts. :rolleyes1

What Eva said - hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, keep cool, and enjoy all the moments!

Hello!

Dave and Erica - 9 miles in the heat - not for me! Good Luck. Mark and I did 4 miles and now it's off to the shower.

We're going to VT today for some fun.

Big news here in Manchester NH. One of our local women Joanne Dow has won a place on the race-walking Olympic team. She's 44 and says that she'll probably be the oldest person on the track and field team but we're all excited for her.

Off to VT, have a good day!

Good morning Team!!!

I haven't had a chance to catch up, but I wanted to tell you how our weekend fishing trip went!! I will come back later and read all about you all!!!

Anyway, we put the river boat on the truck and away we went. Off to do some fishing and relaxing on the White River in Arkansas. Everything was going along smoothly until we stopped for fuel before heading north off I-40 to our resort. A guy backed into ua and broke the mounts on the boat motor. Result: We had a boat, but no motor for our relaxing days of fishing.

Okay, we can make do, rent a boat or possibly even a motor and if we have too, we might be able to buy a motor somewhere. We get to the resort and, WOW! The will rent us a boat motor while we are there. Yay! vacation is back on again!! We spend the next day running up the river (20 miles) and float fishing down. We catch and release 27 fish and just enjoy the day. We even packed a healthy lunch and enjoyed it along the river.

We returned to the boat dock and the resort owner said that we could tie up our boat on the dock and then we wouldn't have to load it out. Seemed like a great idea at the time! We cleaned up and met friends at a local restaurant for dinner.

During the evening and night time hours, it rained. And it rained hard. Over three inches. We slept in the next morning, but at 8:30 we get a phone call, they need us at the dock. Jon gets dressed and goes down to the dock and our boat is underwater along with the rented boat motor.

Jon manages to get in the cold water and they managed to get enough leverage on the boat to raise it. Chis (the resort owner) starts reading manuals and begins figuring out how to save his motor. While Jon uses a sump pump to pump water out of the boat. Chis does manage to rescue the motor, so everything is looking UP again. We had plans to spend that day, the fourth, with our friends, so we didn't bother going back out on the river.

I also discovered that morning that there was a critter living under the sink of our bathroom. I kept opening the sink to see if I could see the critter, but finally gave up. I let Julie (Chis's sife) know that there is a problems when I grabbed coffee to take to Jon, while he is rescuing the sunken boat. When we return to the room, Jon unlocks the door and pushes it in and I see........a bird! A bird flies across the the room into the bathroom. I go into the bathroom and the poor thing braves the doorway and gets away.....no more critter.

Saturday dawns bright and we decide to try to take the boat out, again. We stay pretty close to the dock in case there is a problem. There was. The bow of the boat keeps dipping down and comes level with the water. If a big wake comes along at the wrong time....the boat will swamp. We decide that God says, "Don't fish the river, how many times do I have to tell you this". And we give up on the whole the riverboat thing. We spend the day driving around and going to Farmer's Markets and then take in the fireworks at the resort that evening.

It was an exciting trip! We met some really wonderful people. Our next door resort neighbors were two 20 something couples that were just delightful. The resort owners were just as nice as they could be and even the guy who backed into the boat couldn't have been nicer. We made it home safely with our boat and our motor! I will be making some blueberry goodies today and freezing blackberries. Everything is great!

I hope that you all had an exciting fourth, too!

Great Report Connie!
Goodness, you certainly did not have a problem with being bored! But very glad you did Enjoy all those Special Memory Moments. :lmao:

Rain in the forecast so I could not apply sealant on the gazebo. I had to switch plans and give the deck furniture a very good scrubbing. If it don't rain I am going to be :sad2: as I don't have many days without a little one to get these things accomplished.

Hagen's Daddy is off this morning - so I had a few extra moments. Now I am off to get bit more training in at DD's office. :upsidedow

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone had a great weekend!! I got out and ran on Saturday and Sunday. But I slept in late and boy oh boy was it ever hot when I got out. Needless to say I have a nice tan and tan line from the Garmin :) I think one of my goals for this month should be to get onto a better sleep schedule.

I also had a visit to my dentist about a mucocele (sp?) on the side of my mouth - it's basically scar tissue that's formed after I bit myself. It doesn't hurt or bother me but he suggested I have it removed because they don't go away by themselves. He said it would be a really easy procedure - the surgeon would use a laser and that would be it. The surgeon he referred me to, removed my wisdom teeth many (many) years ago. But something this time made me uncomfortable about his office. He hasn't updated it since I was there last - I don't just mean the decor. He doesn't have a computer and he doesn't take credit cards. No laser either which means he's going to use a scalpel ... Yuck! So I guess I will be looking for someone else.

Connie - That was quite the adventure! 27 fish - wow! Is your boat motor covered by insurance?

Denise - I'm looking forward to the Olympics! I wonder how the factories shutting down for several weeks is going to affect the pollution levels in China. A friend of mine took a trip there in March and said the smog levels are pretty serious.

Margie - The dirty diaper game sounds funny! I'll have to remember that the next time I go to a shower :)

Stay cool and hydrated today everyone!

Hi everybody!!

Had a pretty good 9 miler this morning! I was able to increase my speed and maintain for 3 miles. I settled down and did some technique work until mile 7, then it was persevere as toe started being a pain again. Took the last mile really slow...a cool down mile says Dave. All in all I happy with it!

9 miles in 2:39 for a 16:39 pace!

Everybody sounds like they had a fun weekend, especially Connie.

Erica:)

Connie, Kewl Adventure.

You guys are getting some great training in, I didn't sleep well last night, didn't want to go to work, etc etc... so no morn run, but I did get home and went out for a 5K. Kinda warm I leaked alot.

Lynn is down stairs sanding away, what a trooper. Want to watch the Tour recap tonight, did check a web site or news to see how it came out.

Work travel tomorrow for an overnight will pack up the running gear.

Vicky, good luck with the Dentist, youch!!!

Denise, Kewl about having a local on the Olympic team. and a person of age LOL, see there is hope for us older folks who refuse to grow up.

Later

Way to Go Erica...good pace on your first 9-miler :cheer2:

BunnyFoo - glad to hear it is not serious and do wish you success on finding a Great Surgeon! :goodvibes

Connie, will PM our miles & time as soon as I finish here. On my way to my July Goal - lost 2.5# this week.

Bonsoir l'équipe,
It's a hot one today. When I went out at 8:30 this morning for my six miles run it was 22 celcius with 75% humidity. (message to me: wake up early for long runs during summer). So instead of doing 10 min run and 1 walk I did 5:1 and it wasn't too bad. but I did it and very proud of it.
Tomorrow is a bike day and the weather is supposed to be worse!!!
I just heard there was a shooting during the night very very close from where I work. Glad I was home! But I must say it is scary. I call at work and everyone was OK.
And before finishing, I must say another fantastic day au Tour de France. The experts were sure that the 4 guys in front would be catched but they were wrong. And just to see the finish: those guys are incredible to sprint like that after 5 hours on the road.
Diane

Bunnyfoo, I had laser done to my gum last year, it wasn't bad, I was even able to go back to work the same day. But if this "old" dentist doesn't have that, move on!

Had a lovely trip to VT with Mark in our small P/u truck. It's better on gas than our others - trailblazer and tahoe. Small but we fit in just fine.

Went to Chester VT about 2 hours away and then to the VT Country Store. it was very relaxing and GREEN. That state is beautiful. Bought some fabric for a future quilt - yes I don't need any but Mark insisted that we drove that far, we should make it worth our while. :cloud9:

All in all, a great day and of course the end to our long weekend. Next Saturday we're off to NYC for the day. I'll get some miles in walking the streets of NY. Miranda, Hope and I - the girls in the big city.

Yes I'm only 4 hours away and will of course visit the Disney Store on Fifth Ave! Gap has a great dept - Body by Gap for workout wear so it should be another fun filled day.

Off to bed, no walking on Tuesday, too darn hot for us. Will ease into the week.

denise

Good morning everyone! It is a super humid day in Toronto. I was lucky enough to hitch a ride with DF who was nice enough to bring coffee and breakfast! It wouldn't have been a good day to get squished into a bus or subway. I think I'll probably do my lunch time walk indoors.

Denise - Glad to hear the laser option is an easy recovery! I've had my wisdom teeth removed, cavities filled and regular teeth removed but something about the scalpel made me nervous.

Erica - Awesome time on the nine-miler! I'm trying to get DF use to walking at about 16 m/m so that he won't be totally shocked in January.

Diane - I had to slow my pace down on the weekend as well due to the heat. There use to be a public water fountain half way on my route but it's been removed :headache: I will have to take my water pack with me this weekend. It was definitely slow going without the water.

Connie - Sent you a PM with my hours and miles!

Everyone else - Keep cool and stay hydrated today :)

Hello Team!!

Connie - Holy Moly!! You had quite a trip didn't you?!?! Berries can make anything great though, can't they??

Denise - Sounds like you had fun in VT! It is beautiful isn't it?! I went last year for a weekend trip and went to the Ben and Jerry's factory...yumm!

Vicky - I do not like the dentist AT ALL! I avoid going at all cost! I'm sure I'll regret that later though!

As for me...I ended up having a bunch of stuff to do and didn't get get out for my 9 miles untill 9:15 yesterday. Man...was it HOT!!! The sun was blazing with not a cloud in the sky. No bugs though..I think it might have been too hot for them!! I ended up waking quite a bit of the 9 but still finished with a pace of 12:15. I really, really, REALLY need to be on the road by 6:30 for my long runs from now til the end of summer. Anywho...I am at work and already getting busy. Hope all is well with everybody.

Connie..I will PM you later with my miles.

-Eva

Yes it was a great finish of the Tour yesterday, Go Team Garmin Chapolte, they are #1 for now. Time trials today.

Got up adn out for a solid 5K this morn, before and during sunrise. Packed up my running gear for the road trip.

Getting some stuff together for work.

Remember kiddies Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate...... I think I heard that here before, but great advice.

Later.

Good morning Team.

Connie did you get your submarine I mean fishing boat repaired? Remind me to tell you my story about the broken boat axle, the Holly sleeping bag and the Hells Angles.

Eva, you northern princesses have way more bugs in the summer than we southerners. I was eaten alive by black flies when I was stationed in up state New York. And it gets as humid as the tropics there. I never did figure out how to survive there.

Denise, that NYC trip sounds fun, maybe someday Erica and I can go with y'all. Erica is from there but hasn't lived there for about 30 years.

Scott, I have yet to get to watch the tour or the trials.

Bunny, good luck with the dentist.

Margie, Kim, all the princesses:hug:
