July- Fitness Independence for Hakuna Matata!

Scott, if you get the position are you planning to move (Thinking of all yours & Lynn's work in the basement) :upsidedow And Oh So Happy you thought to give Lynn a nice gift of a massage :worship:

Eva, will check out your link. :)

Gym is closed today. I did a 4.5 miles this morning and plan to take Hagen for a short walk before the fireworks tonight. Got a call this afternoon and a local 'Real Race Walker asked me to walk with her at 7:AM tomorrow. I absolutely love walking partners! :goodvibes

Hagen today also, but still will be able to go to see the fireworks. :upsidedow

Enjoy the weekend activities...we have beautiful weather in this area and hope you do too!

Happy 4th of July Team!

I finally have got some time to get on the computer, I have not been on since Sunday, so there was alot to catch up on!

Dave - Gatlinburg in Dec sounds like alot of fun! If Scott gets the new job, he will be working from home, and just traveling to Sacramento when he needed to meet with folks, and probably traveling to teach in various places.

Eva - January will be the first marathon for both Scott and me - Scott is going all out and doing the Goofy, but I am apprehensive enough just doing the marathon.

We have been getting up at 5am every morning and going for walks/runs. We just did short walks for 2 days, but today we both did 6 miles. It is really nice at 5am - but I do not know if can keep getting up that early! I have managed to get in a few minutes of core work each day after my dog walk, but have been gaining weight all week!!! We have been starting work on the basement at 7am every day, except today. Scott's shoulder is really sore today (not surprising after 6 straight days of lifting drywall, screwing in drywall, mudding and taping drywall!!!), so we got in only 3 1/2 hours of work. I have to say that my arms are also sore after sanding drywall all day yesterday - that makes a great arm workout!!!

We have the Tour de France set to tape every morning, then we will both watch it when Scott gets home from work.

Have a great weekend!

We also have a wedding to go to in August the same day as the Susan Komen 5K race here. The race is early and the wedding is an evening one, so it should work fine.

We enjoy 5K races as well as 10K races.

The Muppets were great!! Thanks!!

Erica - I am curious, after spending years working graveyards - do you switch to a day shift for your days off, or do you stay on the grave sleep schedule? (I am so glad I am off of graveyards, it is the one thing I refuse to do in retirement!!!)

Happy 4th of July to all of you.

Thanks for the link to the Muppets Eva. Me too, when I am at Disney, I have to go see their show.
I'm like some of you, I know what it means to work on holidays since I've been working days, evenings and "graveyard" for the last 20 years. But you know what, it's pretty fun to do the shopping, go to the repair shop for the car, etc during the week when everyone else is working.
As for me I went for a nice bike ride this morning. I'm following a duathlon training program for the summer to add some variety in my training and I must say, it's good for the morale.
And I'm ready for the Tour de France.

Have a nice long week-end.
Diane

Yes will get up early to run and then watch the Tour, this will really make the basement go slow on the weekends.

Lynn - Yep...my first 26.2 is gonna make a wimp outta me. I just know it. I'm gonna cry like a baby when I cross that finish! :sad1:

Diane - Nice to meet you! Glad you like the Muppet show too. It's one of my all time favorites!!

Scott - You are a nutcase for doing the Goofy for your first marathon!! My mom kept telling my that I should try for it, but my dad (the ex-marathoner) kept saying I should just try the half this year. Sooo...I signed up for the full!

Dave - Rolling Pin = Good enough for me!! Thnx!!

Glad all of you liked the link!!

I had skipped my 4 miles yesterday and will push my week ahead. I have 4 miles today instead, 50 minutes cross tomorrow and 9 mile LR on Monday.

Tonight my DBF and I are going to see my friends band play. It's always a good time. Then the same guys that are in the band will be at my house tomorrow morning playing baby shower games...LOL. Too funny considering they are a metal band! :rockband: Lucky for them we have only the coolest of games to play."Baby Beer Bottle", "What's in the Diaper?", "Baby Rock Star"...yep it'll be fun times. And since it's mostly the guys playing games I have bottle rockets and roman candles as prizes. Yay..I can't wait!!

Well...my 4 miles awaits me. I slept in too long by accident!

Oh and we DID make it to see the fireworks on the bike last night. Very cool!

Happy training to all!!

Boy I have a lot of catching up to do.

LOVED the Muppets that was GREAT.

Brookstone hand held massage, mine is quite a few years old but is similar to this:

Lynn as someone who hates the heat and I too get massive headaches if I over heat, we've been working out at 5am too. I'm way too tired at night when I get home from work and it's so darn hot so am is best.

Yesterday we had the family over for the 4th. It was fun. The DH and the kids did their thing with pellet guns and had a blast. I on the other hand, watched and laughed. Miranda was the best shot. I wouldn't want her ticked off at me.

We also stored 4 tons of wood pellets at 40lb bags in the basement. We're set for the winter. I didn't lift too many but the family sure did.

Well off for the first cup of coffee. TTFN

Good morning team mates.

Eva we can't wait to meet you. You have certainly earned your membership in the YARC. So refreshing to know people who don't follow the herd.

Lynn we are doing the "Max" with you, 5K and full marathon.

Scott, I know you need an assistant to cover your back when you are on your secret missions. Hey I watched the old TV show Mission Impossible I can do that.

I'm off to the gym now, walking and weights on the menu for today.

thought I would share.

Lazy morning will watch the Tour.

We watched fireworks from the backyard last night, I crashed early,

Will do some basement work later,
Denise, we had a pellet stove in the Jackson house, we did the full circle. Wood stove, cutting our own wood, (6-8 cord a year)messy and dirty, then to the pellet stove, lots of bags o pellets, (boy the price of those sure has gone up I remember the days of $85 tons, then to gas, we have a gas fireplace here. Lazy with age.

Eva, have fun at the baby shower, should be fun,

Enjoy the day , you all are getting so much stringer every day,

Vicky, Margie, and Connie you guys are doing great, WOW what a team we have.

Diane, Tour starts soon.

Good Morning Team!

Because of the Tour, we have the morning off - so I got to spend some time at the computer again! Scott went for an early run while I slept in until 5:30 today - he was up at 4:30. I will head out for a short loop with the dogs to pick up the newspaper - it is supposed to be in the box by 7am.

We mostly watched fireworks on the TV, but we could see several private displays from our back yard last night. I am amazed at some of the nice fireworks that private folks put up. We also got to see the cities' display - I watched the whole thing, Scott went to bed after about half of it.

Have a great day!

:cheer2: :cheer2: We Sure Have a Great Team :cheer2: :cheer2:

I too seen a beautiful fireworks display last night. Little Hagen even stayed awake for them and did not fall asleep until we were on our way home.

Was out by 6:30AM - Early mornings are so much nicer, cooler, quieter, and more peaceful. Did a nice 8-miler. :goodvibes

Awesome sunrise, Scott!

Eva great games - are you doing the 'What's in the Diaper' with different candy bars? The first time I played that I thought it was hilarious (and some are pretty realistic)! :rolleyes1

:hippie: Hope your workout was great!

Denise,
I am off to check out your massager - thanks for the link.

Are you girls wear running skirts - if so were is the best place to purchase?

I have decided to follow team Garmin-Chipolte.

I have been spoiled by the all the pockets on the Race Ready running shorts, if they made a skirt with the pockets like the shorts, I would sure be tempted to try it!

Thanks, Lynn

I need pockets too! The runningskirts.com have the athletic skirts with compression short & pockets but they are $50 plus. :scared1:

Bonsoir l'équipe,

I'm in a french mood after watching le Tour this morning. Disappointed that there was not a prologue to start things but what a finish. And the speed those guys kept for over 150 km: 43 km/hr. I do that also but when I am going down a good hill.:rotfl:

There is a lot of new teams this year and from the expert on the chanel I watch (not OLN) the winner of this morning has a good chance of winning The Tour. Will see.

As for me I went for an easy run (5 km) this morning and 90 minutes of cutting the grass.

Bye bye
Diane

Hi Team, I just got off work and had some Boca Chilli for an evening meal.

I buy my shoes from the running warehouse, I have been waiting for the release of the new Mizuno Precisson 9:

http://www.runningwarehouse.com/viewlargeshoe.html?pcode=MP9M

It was released today and is available now so I ordered a pair. This is the next step up in padding from my Revolver racing shoes. Being a walker I don't need a lot of padding but I wanted to try this shoe for my long distance walking. At about mile 22 of the marathons my toes are starting to get sore and the next couple of days are rough for wearing anything but flip flops.

Maybe this little extra padding will take care of that. It's in the catagory of a light weight trainner. I will still wear the revolvers for 10Ks and below.

I'm off to bed now everyone have a restfull evening.

Sleeping Panda:hippie:

Dave - Good luck with the new shoes!! I was very touched by what you said about earning my place. It's been a long time since I was a "part" of something. I must say...it does feel really good!

Margie - Yes..."What's in the Diaper?" with the candy. It should be pretty funny!

Scott - Great picture...it's nice having an audience like that isn't it. I read somewhere that long distance runners have the best audience in the world (refering to nature). Sooo true! Us runners/walkers never take a nice morning for granted!!

Ladies - I bought a running skirt from Target this year for 15 bucks. The shorts ride up on me though. I really think I personally need the fabric on my thighs...it helps with the chaffing. I tried vaseline and all that, but I found that by just wearing capris or pants I am much more comfy. Irregardless...I would like a skirt from skirtsports.com they seem super high tech!!

OK...off to prepare for the shower. Have a great day team!! :thumbsup2

Well Eva, I don't know that being a pretty princess of the court of YARC is something you want to put on a job resume but we are glad you joined us. You can never have enouth free thinking friends don't cha know.

I still think Margie was CIA in a former life. She is under cover as a loving grammy but Angelina Jolie has nothing over her.

Erica and I are doing a 9 miler together tomorrow. She has some new kicks to so she should do even better now. We have to go out early since our mornings are nice, around 60 degrees, but then it heats up to the 90s.

Today will just be some mall walking while I'm waiting for her to get off work so we can go to breakfast. Then some mowing after I get off work this evening.

Have an awesome sunday y'all.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Morning KIds, today is a total rest day.

Getting my mind set for going back to work tomorrow.

So I shouldn't have put YARC on my resume????, bummer my resume reads like a YARC handbook.

Will watch the Tour this morn, clean up my side of the bed, make a shelf to disply and store our medals - to put in the work out room. Maybe work on a September Cruise project.

Yesterday we did get registered for a 10K on July 19th at FE Warren AFB, I was told the course is totally on the base, should be fun.

I had sticker shock yesterday when I priced the material for book shelves, then priced pre built shelves at a furnature store, cost of one set (3X6 foot)of built shelves (partical board shelves)equals the cost of material for about 4 larger units(3X8) I can build.

Later Team,

Scott I bought one of those premade just put it together and stain it book cases. We have stain on the floor in the kitchen, it was all over the dog and dog hair was all over the wet stain of the book case. Note to self, don't stain furniture when dog is shedding.

Erica still hasn't figured out how I got one of the shelves backwards, 11 times! It just didn't look right the other way, don't go there!

Turkey and spinich omlet, no cheese and banana bread for breakfast at Bob Evans with my pretty princess.

Work today then, Mexican supper and mowing the grass.
