To get all our heads in the right place for the weekend...

"Running is a mental sport...and we're all insane!" - Author unknown

So if you happened to look at my Twitter pic yesterday, you would see that thanks to Mother Nature, there was no way I was going to get a run in! :scared1: So I gutted it out on the elliptical and did some body weight exercises. Then turned around, swore at my alarm this morning at 4:47AM  and did an HIIT workout on the elliptical again. :faint: Everyone have a great weekend workout!! :yay:

7/18 - 47 mins elliptical, 10 mins strength training
7/19 - 23 mins elliptical HIIT/abs

495/1000

Should have walked 5 more minutes yesterday and I'd be half way to my goal. :)

Catching up for three days here:

15th: 2 mile 30-minute Walk Away The Pounds DVD
16th: 1 mile 15-minute Walk Away The Pounds DVD and 30 minutes gardening
18th: 1 mile 15-minute Walk Away The Pounds and 15-minute walk through the park in town. It was a slower walk than normal since it was so hot and humid. My car thermometer said 99, and with dew points in the low 70's the humidity was pretty much unbearable. When I was walking in the shade it wasn't too bad but in the sun it was brutal so only made it once around the park. Normally I would cross over the railroad tracks to the cemetery and walk another 30 minutes there. Not yesterday. Just too hot! :worried:

But! Happy to have reached my first major WW Online goal of 20 pounds (since May 16th). It allowed me to set my own goal now so I set it for 125. I'm supposed to weigh 102 - 128, so set it kind of high for now. 31 pounds to go to reach that, then maybe another 10....we'll see. :)

Today's exercise - 108 minutes

Warmup walk - 5 minutes
Ran 8 miles - 93 minutes
Cooldown walk - 10 minutes

July tally - 1998/3000

I feel like I'm so far behind, but it's been so darn hot even the basement is not a reprieve.
How are the rest of you beating the heat?

7/17 - 20 min walk with dog in AM; 10 times around the high school track in the evening for another 40 minutes
7/18 - 15 min walk with dog in AM; 25 min at the pool doing laps and walking against the current

Am taking it easy today as I want to run/walk 5 miles early tomorrow with running club.

BandMB - it IS too hot for much! It's only 10AM here and already 88 degrees. My solution is to get out earlier, do a small amount, and do a bit more when the sun goes down. Also, slow down your speed and don't expect to keep up with your cool weather pace/abilities. For me, summer is mostly for maintenance rather than improvement...I've kind of got a 'just get thru it' attitude.

I am just forcing myself out of the door, but carrying more Gatorade and slowing down my pace. I am also getting out earlier, but that really hasn't helped much this week. The "real-feel" temperature was 85 degrees at 5:30 this morning at my house, and it has been that way for a while. :faint:

It's been hot here for a couple of months so I think I FINALLY got acclimated to it. I get out there early and try to stay in the shade. And I'm trying to stay hydrated all day long, especially the day before a long run. And I keep repeating "October...fall...crisp...breezy...cool" to myself to remind myself that summer doesn't last forever!

30 minutes running and 30 minutes lap swimming today.

I have seriously become a crazy runner. I spent 5 hours out in near 100 degree temps here in Hershey park and THEN came back to the hotel and ran for 50 min. I'm either very committed or very stupid. Thank god the hotel had a treadmill.

So speaking of "October" and "crisp" weather, I'm kinda hoping we get another mild fall and winter this year so that training for the princess half is cool but no snow. But yes, I can't wait to run in fall weather too!!!
