July Conference - What would you do?

Hi everyone! I have a conference July 14 - 17 at the JW Marriott Bonnett Creek. I'm flying in from Seattle on July 11, spending 2 days at Pop Century, moving to JW Marriott for the conference, then moving to Port Orleans French Quarter from July 17-21, flying home on July 21. My sister and niece will be joining me the last half of the trip.

This seems like a lot of moving. Does it seem more feasible to stay the entire time at a WDW hotel and Uber or Lyft to the conference? Just not sure how much that will cost me as far as time and money. I don't really plan on eating at the conference (even though it includes breakfast and lunch) as I have Celiacs disease and buffets are really difficult.

Also, if I keep the plans as they are, if I purchase the refillable mug at Pop Century, will I be able to use it at Port Orleans, as there is a break in WDW hotels?

Thanks in advance for the advice!!!

You can get an estimate of Uber Lyft costs by doing practice bookings on the app at the approximate time you’d be traveling each day - just don’t confirm the ride request. You can also use an app like Ride Guru, but I’ve been told it doesn’t take surge pricing into effect.

To get widest exposure for your question re cost, I’d post on the Transportation forum and the Orlando Hotels and Attractions forum too.

As far as the refillable mug, it’s good for 14 days from purchase, no matter where you’re staying.

PS i personally hate split stays, so I’d book one hotel for the duration. Travel time between POFQ, for instance, and the Bonnet Creek complex is pretty short, like 10-15 minutes. I just don’t know what the cost of rideshare would be, and I don’t know your budget.

I dislike split stays... huge waste of time in my view (I know others like them)...

I'd be curious if the swan/dolphin might be an affordable option, otherwise I think POFQ or Caribbean Beach might be worth looking into based on what it seems to be your budget.

I'm doing my first split stay soon too. I try to look at the moving day as a chance to do more relaxing things like the pool or some off property shorter things...I'd say you have to experience it to know whether it'll work for you or not.

Do you like to get up early? If so staying at a WDW property and ubering to your conference is likely fine, but if the things you need to attend start early and the convenience of being able to just walk downstairs is important to you, I would understand that for sure.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I've decided to book Pop for 6 nights, then move to Port Orleans. I don't mind rising early to get to the conference, so I'll just Lyft over there.

Since my sister and niece will be joining me Sunday morning, and have never been to WDW, I thought POP would be a better choice as it is definitely more Disney and they can experience the skyliner. I'm assuming (hoping) that Disney will still transport your luggage from one resort to another, which will make moving easier.

Again, thanks. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to respond!

Yes, they will transport your luggage from Pop to PO. They won't transport anything that needs to be kept cold or frozen, however. You would need to move those items yourself.
