July/August Code Watch

I agree, they have also cut down the discount for CMs too. We use to get a straight 50%, now we get 50% and 40%. When the 50% rooms are gone, we only have the 40% rooms available. It would only seem right if they cut our discount percentage, that it would be fair to do it for ALL. BTW, once those discounted rooms are gone, we have a 25% option. By then, I would choose to pull out my AP option for a better savings. I think the smaller discounts on rooms to all is a result of higher attendance numbers--or at least a projection of higher numbers. All I know is that when we were there in Oct, Dec, and Jan, we noticed the increase of attendance, especially December. Never did we expect to see a park reach capacity in early December (the 10th at MGM). But, call me crazy, we'll be there for 2 weeks in May to help kick off the 5/5/5 celebration. woohoo!

Now that CMs can make our discounted ressie online, I expect to see this option for passholders next. That will be great. Just log in with your passholder ID and make your discounted ressie. I thought I would never see the day that they would make this available to CMs, but that time is now, so passholders have to be next!! that will be great a perk, unless you have a voucher and not an active pass.

I hope you are right, n2mm. That would be very helpful for AP holders. We have access to a CM discount and I was very surprised to find it at 25% for our requested resort. We decided to go the AP rate, since it is better. I would have REALLY liked that 40 or 50% though!

Add me to list of those waiting for August.

Did you go last August? How was the rain? My DH and I went in Aug '02 and for the first four days we had no rain and so the humidity was really low. It was great! Hoping for that again this year.

Hi Trissy,

We have visited in August for the last six years. Late August is much better as far as the crowd level. You can't believe the difference! If you can visit the last week of August, I highly reccomend to do so.

Though in August, it is hot, humid and it does rain, pretty much every single day. Usually in the late afternoon you can expect a down pour. The rain does not last long, usually no more than a half hour or so. Very different than here in NY where if it is rainy, it is usually lousy the entire day.

:sunny: I love WDW in August. :sunny:

We went mid August last year for 3 days. It rained for about an hour or so 2 out of the 3 nights. Each time around the dinner hour so we lucked out and were at dinner each time. The rain started winding down around the time of the fireworks shows. The mornings were warm but comfortable, the afternoons very humid and the nights cooled down and were comfortable. The crowds weren't bad in the mornings, very very crowded at MK in the afternoon and evening. MGM and Epcot weren't bad to walk around but the Fantasmic show was filled to capacity and many many people were'nt able to see it including us. It was very disappointing. We even bought the dinner show pkg but were a couple of minutes late for the special seating section.
I would go again in August but take more time to see everything and take a break in the afternoon back at the pool or somewhere air conditioned and then head back to the parks at night. ::MinnieMo

I booked June with a code but due to DD sports schld. we have to change our dates to July so let the waiting start again .... Oh I hope a code comes out.....

I'd like to go mid-August this year....Aug 10-18 or so,waiting for a summertime code is EXHAUSTING !!!!!

Me too. Just got back 3 hrs ago and I don't think I've ever been more depressed about leaving Orlando in my life. Sad thing is we didn't even go to Disney... I can only imagine how bad it will be when we do go. But we got a taste of the resorts this trip!

I know what you mean...I feel as if I am holding vigil or something :hourglass

I'm waiting for Aug. too. I only need one night before we check into SSR. Don't really want to borrow the points for the Sat. night stay, so I was hoping for a code. I called CRO this morning to see what the cheapest rate I could get for two rooms at either the All Stars or POR and they quoted $99 per room per night at *** and $149 at POR. I think I'll wait and see if something better comes out. Heck, I paid $79 at POR last June (with a code)!

We were there early-mid August last year and had quite a bit of rain. Of course, Charley was there too. Going a week earlier this year, hoping to avoid hurricanes.

Talked my husband into going back (okay I pouted) after a years absence. I invited his whole family so he didn't have much of a choice. The thing is, I have never had an AP and I don't know if it is worth it now with the MMYW tickets. We have always used general codes in the past, doesn't look promising for late July. I'm driving myself nuts trying to decide if I should wait for a post card or get an AP. If I make a ressie do I have to already have a voucher in hand for an AP? We will be there for 10 nights. Of course if I get an AP we would have to go back........hum :rolleyes1

I didn't have the voucher in hand. I would wait. You could always buy it in the same phone call. That's what a friend of mine did.

I am waiting for a general code for July 3rd to the 10th. We already have a room booked at All-Star Sports for $99/night. We want a code that we can apply to that resort or any other if it is cheaper than what we are paying now.
